CHAPTER 5
I get to the training grounds and I toss Adam his keys.
I’m too tired for training today, after spending the last few hours working on my gifts.
I see Josh across the field.
And he is doing some serious damage to
another warrior. What a douchebag.
Josh sees me and smiles real big. “ I’m ready for a fresh one.” Josh yells.
I hope the next one kicks his butt... I’m thinking.
That’s when I see Eric step up to Josh and say something I can’t hear.
They are too far away.
Eric and Josh take their stance..
Josh lunges, but Eric side steps him easily.
Josh catches himself before he loses his balance..
Turning around he lunges again.
Eric side steps him again.
Eric tells the students on the field, that if you can let your opponent wear himself out that
will make it easier for you to take him down.
Josh is looking at Eric as though he could kill him.
Eric side steps Josh attacks again. And again.
Josh is looking tired. While Eric still looks fresh.
Josh is so mad he starts to shift right in front of everyone..
Eric turns around and in his Alpha voice he commands Josh to “get your wolf under control!”
Josh stops the shift and shifts back in his human form again.
Eric tells Josh infront of everyone “Thanks for your help showing the trainees how to dodge attacks.
Eric makes It sounds like They were putting on a show to help train the students..
Josh stared at Eric for a few seconds and said “ Not a problem. Anytime.”
Everyone is clapping and cheering.
Students start pairing up and heading onto the field. using the training technique that Eric and Josh just performed.
Everyone is enjoying the different ways of dodging an opponent.
It looks like fun. I decided to try it.
But I don’t have a partner.
Then I see Tony wiggling a finger at me. Motioning me to join him.
“Hey Tony.” I give him a brilliant smile.
His smile is so big, I think his face is going to crack.
“Come on Ala.. Try to dodge my attacks.”
I get ready for Tonys attack.
With my Right foot out in front, and my body turned sideways.
Tony Stands tall with his head down and arms outstretched, he charges at me.
I lean down and pivot on the ball of my left foot sweeping my right leg out and tripping Tony.
I go under his outstretched arms and come up behind him.
“Hey, you're supposed to dodge. Don't trip me.” He's laughing.
Sorry, reflexes. I’m smiling at him.
I reach down and put my hand out to help him up.
Tony grabs my hand and pulls me down beside him.
Sorry, reflexes. Tony said laughing.
I can’t help but laugh. Jeremy was watching us with a grin.
“OK you guys. You're supposed to dodge.
Don't try to hurt each other.”
“That means no tripping Ala.”
That means Dodging only.“ Jeremy said with his arms across his chest.
Ok. I said with a sigh.
I take my stance again.
Tony hunched over this time. Charges at me.
I put both my feet together and jump over Tonys head.
I land facing him.
How did I jump that high?
Tony is over six feet four inch. Tony stops and looks at me over his shoulder.
“What the f....” How did you jump so high?”
We can jump high, but not seven feet high.
“I'm not sure.”
I've never done it before.” I tell Tony.
He shakes his head. “OK,
Are you a witch?”
“WHAT? NO!” I told him.
“Ok Teala, what's going on?” I ask Teala in my head.
“Just one of your gifts.” You're also faster than a regular shifter, Teala said.
Shit. What else can I do?
You can slow time and which gives you time to prepare for your attack. No one will see you slow down time. To them you are just really fast.
Ok thanks Teala.
“OK, everyone. Switch positions.” Jeremy said.
“YES! My turn!!” Tony fist bumped the air, and said excitedly.
I just smile and tell him to get ready.
Tony takes his stance and I run as fast as I can.
Tony doesn't have time to react before I ram him with my arms outstretched.
We both go flying to the ground.
Ben yells, “ You gonna take that from her?”
“She is not even the size of a pixie.” Ben is laughing.
Tony picks himself up off the ground..
“Ouch!.” That hurt!” Tony said to Ala.
Tony and Ala Both break out laughing.
I really like Tony. He’s so easy going.
Jeremy walks up as Tony walks away.
“Ala, how did you do that?” Jeremy asked.
I don’t know what to say. I can’t tell Jeremy yet.
“Um, I'm not sure.” I just can.”
“Maybe all this training is paying off.” I tell Jeremy
“Maybe I'm getting stronger and faster.” Jeremy just glares at me.
I hate lying to my brother. But what do I say?
Jeremy is called away by Adam. who also saw what I did on the field.
