Chapter 16

Ravi's POV

Things were very calm for a few days, work wasn't even that stressful as it was before the vacation which brings my mind to the things my Dad has been telling me about Mom.

He said that they would be returning home tomorrow after his meeting with Mr Ivanov, I was wondering why the rush and he just broke down saying mom has been acting strange and weird for a while now.

I didn't see it as something that he should be worried about, maybe she does have something troubling her mind and I am sure that when she is ready, she will tell us or MAYBE she IS pregnant..... Nahh not possible, my mother hated the changes happening to her body when she got pregnant with me so I don't think she will want to go through that again.

"What are you thinking so hard about Ravi?" Adrian said.

I sigh, "nothing of much importance to you."

"Ok if you say so but just know I'm here if you want to talk, ok?"

"Ok thanks."

"Good now get your butt off that couch and go cook us some dinner."

I chuckled going to the kitchen as ordered by my boss Adrian. It's good to see him finally wanting to eat more and to get more flesh on his bones which is good but I am completely out of things to eat, all the food stock in my kitchen is gone.

"I want spaghetti and meatballs!" he yelled from the living room.

"Yes your highness! " I yelled back laughing at his silliness.

Come to think of it, my mother hasn't called since I came back, maybe I should call... Yeah I totally should and could try to get some answers as to her recent behaviors.

"Ravi, can you add bacon for me?"

I scowled, "why the hell would you want bacon in spaghetti?"

"I don't know." he shrugs.

"Whatever, can you please go back to the living room and let me cook."

"Ok fine." He groans.

I brought out a pack of Golden penny spaghetti, I think one would be enough because I don't really eat much. After I prepared the food I called Adrian to come and help me serve it.

"Can we just eat it in a big bowl?" He says out of nowhere.

"Why would you want to eat it in a big bowl.... We have good plates that actually work, you know."

"I know that but I want to bond with you."

"Uhmm why? " I stared at him curiously. If I didn't know better I'd think he is feeling guilty about something.

"Nothing I just.. I don't know, I guess I am just feeling emotional." his eyes downwards.

"Aww baby why the hell are you feeling emotional." I said I was going to hug him.

"I don't know Ravi, I'm just a little down.... I want to tell you something." He says after a pause.

I cocked my head, "tell me something, what? "

"Promise me you wouldn't be too mad at me... or..or even feel betrayed.".

It looks like this is something that has been bothering him for a very long time and it seems very serious for it to make his eyes water.

"Look I can't promise you something like that baby but what I can promise you is that I will have an open mind to listen and hear you out."

"Ok I guess that's enough for me now."

"Good now let's eat and after that you can tell me what you want to tell me, ok? "

"Ok."

We ate in complete silence, I didn't even hear the sound of the TV talking which made things a little bit awkward because we always have something to say to each other especially when we eat together.

We cleared the dishes in silence too. Uhg.... Why the hell are we even quiet? I mean we have talked about some awkward things but I think whatever Adrian is going to tell me is going to take the crown.

I got us a bottle of wine to help reduce the tension, "let's have this discussion in the living room, ok?" he nodded his head in response.

We sat down on the couch facing each other, "so I haven't really been honest with you.... Especially with the Adam issue."

I narrowed my eyes brows in confusion, "what do you mean Ad-" I was cut off by the ringing of my phone. I looked at the caller ID and saw that it was mum, I wasn't expecting her to call me at all. Maybe it might be important for her to call, especially at this hour.

"Hold on Adrian I need to answer this, just give me a few minutes."

"Oh ok... I will be right here when you are done."

"Ok thanks." I said answering the phone and going to my room to talk in private.

"Hey mum"

"Hey son, how are you going?" She asked

"I'm doing great mum."

"Good now to the main reason as to why I called you..... What has been going on between you and your father and you better tell me the truth boy."

Uhmm what the hell I thought, "odd question mum. Why are you asking?"

"No important reason, I just want to know what has been going on. You guys are hiding something from me. I am sure of it and I want to know what it is."

"Well if you want to know so bad, why don't you just ask dad?" I questioned

"You know how your father is, he wouldn't tell me anything besides he has been busy for a while now."

Well I am guessing that means he is actually looking up to Mr Ivanov, "well mum if dad doesn't want to tell you then I suggest you respect his decision, ok?"

A few seconds of silence she says in an oddly yet calm voice, "ok son you are right, I should respect his decision."

"That's good mum, don't worry too much for I am sure he has a reason for not telling you." I said, trying to cheer her up, "so mum I hope you don't mind catching me up on your vacation stories and the latest gossip."

"Oh son do I ever mind." she said as we both laughed.

I got caught on the latest gossip by my mother, I also told her of what has happened in my life except for the Adrian part of course. All in all I had fun catching up with my mum.

Oh shit Adrian I thought as I hurried to the living room, I got there and found him sleeping on the couch looking all cute and adorable. I guess time actually doesn't wait for no man because I think I spent over 2 hours talking to mum and now I feel very bad about that because I left Adrian hanging.

"Hey Adrian, wake up." I shaked him up.

"Uhmm Uhmm i'm waking up." he groaned trying to keep his eyes open.

"Wake up babe, you need to get to your room." I said trying to get him to stand up, "I'm sure you don't want to have a sore back tomorrow.'' The couch was very comfortable but I'm not sure it was made for sleeping.

"B-But I am yet to tell yo-"

I cut him off, " tomorrow we can continue ok, you need to get some sleep immediately because it looks like your head is about to fall off your neck. " I chuckled as he muttered rudely.

"Alright tomorrow it is." he said walking towards his room, "goodnight Ravi boo."

I laughed, " good night Adrian babe "

After we got the new phones, I called dad to ask him what his relationship was with Harper. He didn't really give me the answer I was hoping for, he just said that that would be a story for another time. I don't even know why I am that interested in their relationship.... I guess I just feel the need to know everything since this whole issue with Adrian started. I mean I love Adrian and all but I feel like I had no choice but to help him which meant being dragged into his world of drama...not that I would have had it any other way, it's just that I felt so lost in all this, I felt like I couldn't contribute anything to helping Adrian find his brother and get justice for all he went through in the hands of the one Who was supposed to love him. I love Adrian like a brother and a best friend and I hope that after all this he would be willing to stay and whatever he is going to tell me wouldn't change that. I thought of sipping the very expensive wine I stole from dad's private wine seller. He wouldn't miss, I am sure of it.
