Ravi's POV

"So Mum Dad, you guys will go to your rooms and shower and clean up while Adrian and I get started on dinner, how does that sound? " I said when we got into the house.

She frowned saying, "Uhm that sounds good but do you think it's wise to let Adrian in the kitchen?I am sure that he can't. I mean he is a guest after all. "

Adrian eyes downwards and nervously shifting from one foot to the other says, "Sorry for the inconvenience Sonia. "

"That Mrs Dun_"

"Stop it SONIA. " I just couldn't take it anymore, belittling Adrian like he is a nobody, "Don't you dare saying one hateful or belittling word to him again... Come on tell me what is your problem with him, that's if you have one because you just met him so how could you possibly have a problem with him. "

She gasped and stared at me with wide eyes, "Ravi, you can talk to your mother like that... Tell him Victor. "

"Tell him what? Huh... To stop defending his innocent friend from your hateful words... If that's so, you are not going to hear anything from me. " Dad said, turning to walk away. Something is definitely up with him and I am going to find out what but first ,deal with this woman...woman because she's not my mother.

Adrian was already squeezing my arm, telling me to let it go but I promised to protect him from anyone including my own mother and I wasn't about to go back on my promise to him, " listen to me mother, I don't want to you talking to him like that ever again besides he is not a guest nor a stranger here because he is my best friend and brother and that makes him family so you don't get the right to belittling him especially in my presence. "

After that was said, I left Mum in the living room, mouth wide open and dragged Adrian to the kitchen behind me.

"Ravi, that was wrong of you on so many levels I mean come she's your mother, you don't get to talk to her like that no matter what. "

"Look babe, I promised to protect and defend you no matter what and I wouldn't go back on that promise Adrian besides she was the one in the wrong, you know I love my mother and would do anything for her but not if she is preying on the weak or people that she thinks she is higher than. "

He sighed, " I know that Ravi and I am so grateful for everything but_"

"No buts Adrian, I meant what I said earlier. You are my best friend and brother, the brother that I have always wanted and_"

He cuts me off, "but you don't even know that well for me to even be considered as your brother besides we are not of the same blood. "

"I don't care about blood Adrian because family is not made from blood but love and I don't need to Know you to want to be your brother. "

"Enough of this back and forth discussion Adrian, I know you enough as it is and we still have more years ahead of us to get to know each other. "

"Adrian, there is nothing more to say. We need to get the food stuff to prepare my parents favorite food... There is absolutely nothing in the fridge and cupboards. " I said checking around to see if I could find anything in them.

"And what is their favorite food? "

"Well it's my famous spring roll meatloaf. " I said smiling.

"I don't understand, what's a spring roll meatloaf."

"Well it's a meatloaf that is the size of a spring roll. "

He cocked his head saying, "Ok so why is it their favorite again?"

"The sauce is the magic in the dish." I said smiling. I remember how I mistakenly made the sauce...it was totally by mistake.

"Oh what is in the sauce that makes it so special?"

"Sorry Adrian, a chef never reveals their recipes."

He huffed, "fine, let's go already."

"Ok you big baby." I grabbed the car key and followed him out.

"Target or Walmart?" He asked.

"Oh no you don't, I am never going to Target with you ever again."

"Why?Wait, don't tell me that you are still hanging over that ONE time? "

Is he serious?, "of course I am still hanging over that day... You almost broke me. "

"Oh come on, don't be ridiculous Ravi. I am sure you and I know that your bank account can never go broke even without your Dad paying your monthly allowance... Come to think of it, why the hell is your Dad still paying you a monthly allowance? I mean you are well above the age of 18? "

"Thank you!... You know sometimes I can't tell my parents enough of the fact that I am not 18 and can't baby me anymore. " I said and he chuckled, "this is not a laughing matter. " I said, scolding him.

"Hey whatever. "

"Walmart it is. "

We arrived in record time...well mostly because I broke almost all the traffic rules.

"Ok we are going to split the list so we can shop faster. "

"Fine but I'm getting a cookie dough ice cream to accompany me on what I am sure is going to be a long shopping trip. " He says as a matter of fact.

I blinked rapidly in confusion, "I don't understand how eating ice cream is going to make shopping easier. "

"You don't understand science Ravi so I don't expect you to understand. "

I huffed, "whatever, let's just go. "

I tore the list of groceries into halves, I gave a half to Adrian and took the other and went on my way.

Hmm... Maybe I should get chicken instead of beef; totally.

"Ravi! "

What the fuck.

Who the hell would be screaming my name in a fucking supermarket... Unless Adrian!

"Adrian, where are you? " I said, turning around frantically looking for him.

"Ravi over here. " He says walking is more like running towards me, "we need to get the hell out of here right this second. "

"Woah woah hold up Adrian... What do you mean by that I mean we aren't done with the groceries and we can't just leave. " I said, trying to reason with him and at the same time make sense of what's happening.

"Look Ravi fucking this shopping because if the get to up...we wouldn't need them so let's go. "

After that, I didn't even get a choice to say something or even ask what he was talking about because he was already dragging me out of the store and towards the car.

"Ravi get in and drive like the fucking maniac that you are. " He said, shoving me into the car.

"Ok Ok, I would drive but first calm down and tell me WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON? " I yelled, "because I can't take the suspense anymore, ok? "

"Ok fine sorry but I will explain everything to you including the most useless of all details to you if you can get us out of here in 30 seconds. "

Wow oddly specific...I like it, "ok fine. Get in. "

I got us out of there in 28 seconds which should say something about my driving skills but we don't have time for that now because we are currently being chased by four black SUVs.

"Ok so now that we have established a common ground... I am hoping that you can explain to me IN DETAILS why 4 SUVs are currently following us. " I said, trying to sound like I am not freaking out .

"In one word... Marcus. "

I swear I lost count of how many times my jaw dropped. "Marcus as Marcus Rain aka the Monster. "

"Yes and is that really what you call him in your head. "

"Ah yes totally... isn't that normal. "

He stares at me blinking calmly, "no it's not. "

I pinched my brows together because this is not the time to be socially awkward and sarcastic which is why I am letting that statement go.

"On a serious note Ravi, what are we going to do? " He turned back to look, "Ravi said. "

Think..Think Ravi, what are we going to do?.

"Uhmm wait...call Dad now and put it on speaker. "

It took dad a few seconds to pick up which is a big surprise because he hates technology.

"Dad, listen to me carefully... We are being followed by 4 black SUVs and we need your help. "

There were a few seconds of silence before... before I heard Mum's voice instead of Dad's.

"Oh Ravi baby, you can be such a fool at times. " She said in a mocking voice.

What the hell.

"Mom what the fuck is going on?, Where is Dad? "

"Your father wouldn't be there to save you Ravi...and that includes you too Adrian but be sure to tell Ravi the truth before you both die which will be happening sooner than expected. " And she hung up.

"Tell me what? " I said, turning to look at Adrian.

"Ravi, please let me... Ravi Look out! " Adrian said, looking at the road.

And was the last thing I heard or saw before we crashed into a side bridge and lost consciousness.
