The Hunters and Jackson
It's been a while since Amillia has had to deal with any of this. For the last seven years, she’s just been living peacefully in this town, in her home. All she can do is shake her head and wonder what kind of trouble is about to start. She just wonders what they want, what are they doing here, and why have they come to find her? She’s assuming they’re seeking her out considering they went through Jackson to attempt to talk to her. The fact that they’re hunters just adds icing onto the cake.
They went back to her place, she’s not worried about them knowing where she lives, chances are she isn’t going to be staying here much longer anyways. If her suspicions are correct than it’s time for her to continue the mission. It’s been a nice break though; she must admit that much. Boy, has she dreaded her mission.
Amillia welcomes everyone into her home and into the setting room. Her house is a decent sized brick and stone country cottage. Just the way she has always dreamed of her home being, so when she had this place rebuilt, she done it just the way that she has always wanted. There’s three bedrooms, two full bath, a kitchen, an indoor green house, and a setting room. On the outside there’s a wooden wrap around porch connected to the stone cottage and a beautiful garden that Amillia grows full of herbs and flowers. Out back there’s four different barns of different sizes each housing different animals, a chicken’s coop, and a beautiful creek that runs alongside it. Her home is marvelous and in the middle of nowhere, literally out in the middle of the woods with a big solid white oak tree setting at the entrance of her property.
Walking out of the town for about one and a half miles the two hunters start to grow nervous. If anything was to happen, or if this meeting goes south then they are both very much screwed. They are far enough away from town to where if Amillia wants too she can make them disappear and pretend to have never met them. But this is something that must be done.
Amillia shows the men into her house and as the men take a seat in the living room Amillia starts to make tea in the kitchen. She’s only alone in there for a couple of moments before Jackson enters the room leaving the other two men to wait by themselves in the setting room.
“Amillia, I’m sorry, I didn’t want to say anything in front of Renee.”
“Say anything about what?” She asks as she looks at him with a bit of anger, mistrust, and curiosity mixed on her face.
He just stares at her for a moment. What is he supposed to say? Tell her the truth about who he is right now, with the other two in the living room? Nope, she’s not going to be too receptive to what he has to say, and honestly, he’s not quite sure how to tell her the truth.
There’s awkward silence between the two of them until the tea pot announces that it’s done, and then Amillia returns to the tea all while giving Jackson the chills with her emotions. She picks up the tray with the tea and the cups and walks into the setting room and offers some tea to the men setting there.
Amillia takes a seat on the love seat that is setting opposite of the couch that the men are setting on. No one says a word for a while, silence, and tension building all around them. She sips her tea while waiting on them to speak, they however look as if she might be trying to poison her and like as if they don’t trust the beverage they have been handed.
“Well, I guess someone has to talk,” the shorter of the two strange men says with a cheeky smile on his face as if he’s trying to make things go easier.
Even though he’s shorter than the man setting beside him, he’s still quit tall, but then again everyone is tall standing next to Amillia who stands about five foot two. And yes, Amillia is well aware of the fact that she’s short, but that doesn’t make her any less capable of doing things.
The man continue. “My names Jayven, and this is my brother, Daniel, we also have a mother and a sister out there somewhere to. I’m assuming you know that we’re not typical hunters considering your reaction in town.”
Amillia nods and rolls her eyes at the same time, like that isn’t obvious. But they better not be part of that despicable family that she despises so much.
“What are you doing here?” She asks, she just wants them to get to the point, her nerves can’t handle the suspension, are they fighting or what?
“Well…” The man hesitates a minute, “this might sound crazy, but we were looking for our mother and sister because we haven’t heard from them in a while and we ran into some woman, who kind of looks like you honestly, she has black hair though, and she told us to find you. She said she has a message for you as well.”
Amillia is looking at him through very skeptical eyes. Someone that sort of looks like her, with black hair, has sent strangers to find her to deliver a message. Who the hell would do that? She thinks to herself because there’s no way it’s anyone in her family.
“Look, all I know is she said her name’s Layla and that she couldn’t stay long, but she wanted us to find you and tell you to be careful of your surroundings, she’s awake and they’re closer than they appear. She also said that you will help us find our sister and mother because it’ll help you to find the others.” Jayven tells.
Amillia is just looking at him with her expression changing from the mistrust and disbelief to shock and amusement. She can’t help but the laugh, she laughs so hard tears start to roll down her eyes. The two strangers, Jayven, and Daniel are looking at her as if she’s gone mad while Jackson is just looking worried standing beside the love seat she’s setting on looking down at her.
But then it hits Amillia, the name he said, Leyla. She’s awake, after everything Amillia had tried to do to wake her when she had the chance and failed. Amillia silently wonders what it took to wake her up. These men are human, mortals, perfectly normal like the majority of the rest of the world. She can tell and doesn’t sense any sort of magic on them. How and why are the basis of so many questions that are running through her head right now. Except one, what was said to be careful of her surroundings. With that thought her head snaps up to Jackson and she jumps to her feet.
It's as if she’s looking at him in an all-new light.
“Who are you really?” She asks demanding and very authoritative. “You know Leyla don’t you, you know who I am?” Anger building again wanting to desperately rip Jackson’s throat out, especially if he’s been working with the others this whole time.
Jackson just looks at her for a few seconds, with his chin between his index finger and his thumb. He’s rubbing his chin as if he’s considering what he’s wanting to say, prolonging having to say this just a couple more seconds.
“I’m Damian’s brother Amillia, and yes, I’ve always known exactly who you are.”
Amillia’s jaw drops open. The two strange men just look between the two of them with curiosity on their faces. They haven’t a clue who this woman is, they just know that someone said that she may be able to help them and sent them here. They are both wondering what any of this has to do with whatever is going on between this woman and man.
“You’re one of the three?” Amillia asks quietly, but before he could respond her eyes turn a very, very dark shade of blue and she says, “Should I kill you now or later?” That one came out loud and clear.
Jackson holds up his hands in surrender. “Look, if I had a white flag I’d raise it, I swear. I’m here because Damian can’t be. He asked me to come here and help you.”
“And what’s the proof of that?” Amillia asks.
Jackson smiles. He takes a locket out of his pocket and hands it to her. She recognizes it immediately and opens it to look on the inside. It’s a locket that Damian had once given to her, back when they had first met, it’s a heart made of gold with a diamond in the middle and around the edges.
There’s a note in there from him along with a small copy of a picture of them with the kids inside the frame. She reads the note and then places it back inside of the locket, shutting it once she’s done.
She looks at Jackson. “You’re lucky, for now, is all I know to tell you. This better not be a trick.” And then she turns back to the two strange men. “Who’s your mother and your sister?”
“Um… our mom’s name is Charlotte, and our sister Jessica, Dinsmore,” Jayven answers. Amillia is assuming that he is the oldest because he’s always the first to speak up and seems to be in charge of things while the other one just sets there all quiet and observant.
Amillia’s never heard those names before. She had to ask though because the majority of the hunters that are in this world come from a special family, and they’re a specially trained group of people. They are brutal and ruthless to the core. There’s only very few not a member of that family, and those are the ones that normally don’t last long.
“Are you related to the Wyatt family? A group of hunters, well, a family of hunters?” She asks.
They both shake their heads no, not knowing who she is talking about. They’ve never even heard of the Wyatt family before. It does pique their interest that she is curious about their lineage though, and it makes them wonder why. It’s apparent that this woman has a lot of secrets and hidden knowledge.
“I’ll help you find your family, on one condition, you help me find my sisters,” Amillia offers a deal.
The two strangers accepted the agreement without a second thought. Jackson has sunk into the background wondering what Amillia will chose to be his fate. He knows that breaking her trust is dangerous, Damian had warned him against doing that, but he just didn’t know how to tell her the truth, or when too for that matter. She seemed so happy with her life now and after the small parts he’s aware of she deserved to get to enjoy the peace while she could. If he had told her the truth when she first moved here then she never would have got to relax and enjoy some down time.
