A Dangerous Road
All the color drains from Amillia’s face. Now she really has to get to Damian. He had been taking care of the kids ever since she stayed in the mortal world pretending to be mortal. There’s no way that she will ever let that happen.
Seth’s head jerks upwards at the words that Sonja said. His eyes land directly on Amillia, he can hear her heart racing, the beat of her heart is matching his own. This wouldn’t be the first time Cole has come for one of them, and the memories from last time still haunt both Amillia and Seth.
“Just one more reason we need to get to Damian as soon as possible,” Amillia says, putting on her best poker face while feeling as if she’s going to be sick.
“When do you want to head back out?” Seth asks her.
“As soon as possible, I’m not trying to wait around and be unprepared when Cole goes to make the first move, and he will. Setting Cole up into a trap will be all too easy, but we need Damian, and I need know that my children and family are safe.” Amillia answers.
Amillia’s just hoping at the kids are still where they’re supposed to be. She knows that they can’t hide forever, that’s not a part of their destiny, but at least for a little while longer wouldn’t hurt. They’re still too young for all this crap to be thrown at them.
Damian, Jayven, and Daniel traced the boy’s mother and sister to a small town in Virginia. The boys don’t believe that it’s the same demon that they would be after. How had the thing got all the way across the country?
Jayven and Daniel still don’t know a whole lot about the world that they have been fighting for the greatest majority of their life. Damian has been trying to fill them in, but he finds them a bit annoying and egotistical. He is very interested to know how Amillia ended up getting twisted up with these two men, they’re decent at their job, but beyond that they’re not very appealing people.
“Does anyone even live in this town?” Jayven asks as the three of them enter it.
One of the good things about Damian and him having powers is that he can transport himself, and anyone he wishes, in the blink of an eye to a different location. It’s something that has come in handy over the last few years.
“Yes, there’s people here, and I can sense more than just normal people as well. We need to lie low until we can figure out exactly what is going on in this place,” Damian responds.
“I don’t get what my mom and sister would be doing in this place.” Jayven comments.
By this time Damian is beyond frustrated. He’s told this man numerous times to be quiet and let him scope out the place and see what’s going on. Yes, this is a small town, but it’s quiet, too quiet. Damian doesn’t like it; he’s got a bad feeling about what’s going on in this town.
Damian doesn’t bother reminding Jayven that he needs to shut the hell up, but he is however considering abandoning these two. Yeah, sure that’s not the nicest thing to do, but those who don’t listen have to feel, and they’re about to feel. Something isn’t right here, and Damian doesn’t want to end up getting caught up in the middle of something that’s not really any of their concern. He has people he has to get back to eventually.
All of a sudden, out of nowhere, the three of them became surrounded by bears. Really big, humongous, black, and brown bears. Every one of them has their teeth bared too, growling with saliva dripping out of the corner of their mouth. They’re surrounded by completely pissed off bears apparently.
Damian turns around facing the biggest, and closest, one to them and holds his hands up in surrender. Luckily the two brothers are smart enough to follow suit.
“I’m sorry if we’re intruding on your land, we’re looking for two mortal hunters and this just happens to be where we were lead too, we honestly mean no one any harm,” Damian says as he lowers his head, dropping his gaze from the big bear as a sign of respect.
The big bear lets out a snort and shakes his head for a moment, and then he transforms back into a humanoid, which freaks the two brothers out a little bit. Yes, they’ve heard of the shifter, but have they ever seen one before, nope, not until now.
The newly transformed man takes a good look at Damian, and then a glance at the mortal boys. He’s sizing them up, deciding whether or not he would be able to trust them. He’s been burned before by others, and that’s why this is a small town and will forever remain a small town. The less interaction with the outside world then the better!
“What are you, you’re not mortal, and yet not a shifter,” The man asks Damian.
‘How the fuck am I supposed to answer that without getting us all fucking killed here, or at least without causing some major fucking fighting.’ Damian thanks to himself.
“I’m a warlock,” he answers simply, “with some elven blood.” The best bet, her decided, is not to tell the whole truth, but tweak the truth just a little bit. That way he’s not lying, but he’s not letting them know he’s the son of the Lord of Darkness either. His demon status can remain a secret for now.
It’s obvious that the big dude that’s leader of these people doesn’t quit trust Damian, in fact he’s one hundred percent skeptical of them. He watched them shimmer inside of this land, and that’s a trick not a whole lot of warlocks can accomplish without draining out too much of their energy.
“Who are you looking for? No one comes in or out except through my people. So, if someone is strange here, we would know. I haven’t seen or heard tale of anyone not supposed to be here, being here.” The leader said.
“Jessica and Charlotte Dinsmore, they’re out mother and our sister,” Daniel speaks up.
The leader snaps his head in Daniels direction only briefly breaking eye contact with Damian. He doesn’t trust him, and he doubts that Damian will ever be someone that he could trust. There’s just something off about the man that the leader of the bear shifters just can’t figure out, and it’s perturbing to say the least.
“My name is Jarod, I’m leader of this pack,” the leader introduced himself, holding his hand out to Damian in expectance for him to shake it.
Damian has showed nothing but respect for these shifters and has no plan on changing that anytime soon, besides if the war is at their back door, then the more warriors they have on their side the better. They already know that the other side has been recruiting, why can’t they do the same thing too?
The two gentlemen shook hands with one another, and then Jared continues. “There had been two women here, severely hurt. They are still here resting. I will send word back to them about your arrival, and if and only if they agree with you will you be allowed to see them.”
Damian can feel the tension that is coming from Jayven and Daniel and being denied being taken directly to their family, especially after they have spent so many months trying to find the women. They’re close, but the two brothers are only one mistake away from fucking everything up for everyone.
Damian shoots the brothers a look that tells them they better stay quiet. For the first time since meeting this man they can see the evil that is contained inside of him and they both experience goosebumps running up their arms and down their spine. Neither of them says a word.
The bosses are furious that no one has any information as to where Amillia and her band of followers have disappeared too. What Cole had done to Erik isn’t anything compared to what the bosses had done to him. Sadly, he sold his soul to the devil, so to speak, so it’s not like he’s going to die by the hands of his bosses anytime soon. After all, they owe the Lord of Darkness as well. They have no right to take what is rightfully his.
“Sirs, we have word that they have acquired a van and is now travelling across the country. Their destination is still unknown. They haven’t made but one stop in three days!” The man who had rushed into the bosses’ chambers clamored on before being given permission to speak.
The oldest one of the bosses’ who sets in the middle of their long rectangular table looks down at this disrespectful man. While appreciating the information that he came to share, he still broke a law, and all law breakers must be dealt with accordingly.
“Take him to the dungeons!” The elder man says. “Your information is much needed, but your rudeness will not be tolerated!”
With that, the guards took the man out of the room.
Now… To only figure out where these people are headed, or better yet, maybe a way to ambush them along the way. If they know the general vicinity of which direction they are heading then setting up a trap for them shouldn’t be too hard, especially not with all the powerful workers they have for them this day.
The boss at the end of the table speaks after the man who was taken to the dungeon and the guards were completely out of the room.
“Sir, we’re going to need a plan. Chances are she’s going to meet up with Damian, and from what Cole has informed that Erik warned, we don’t want her meeting up with Damian.” The old man said quietly.
The lead of the bosses knows this of course, it’s not secret. They know good and well that Erik wasn’t just taunting his dad. They had watched the video from the dungeons. Erik’s deranged, and a bit sadistic, but to taunt Cole just for fun isn’t something he’d do, especially not with a lie.
Now, to move on to their course of action.
It’s been three days of nonstop traveling only stopping for snacks and gas. They have switched vehicles a few times, even on day taking two and meeting up again to switch back into a third-row seating vehicle.
Amillia has told them all about a bad feeling she has, and they have all discussed Sonja’s vision in detail. What they know for sure is that Damian left with mortal hunters to help them find their mom and sister while Amillia went to find her sisters.
They have no idea what’s happened to Damian and the two brothers except for the fact for some reason they’re in some deserted town in Virginia, which makes no sense at all and just happens to be on the other side of the country! They also know that the Wyatt family, or at least their elders, their bosses, are unhappy with Erik and Cole for letting them escape and that Cole is torturing Erik because of the mishap that happened.
They also knew that Cole has a plan to no longer go after Amillia but instead, to go after her children now. Which is something that she’s dead set against letting happen. Whether to raise them or to kill them, if the Wyatt’s get a hold of them then their lives might as well just be over. Amillia wonders if Erik would ever let Matthew grow up the way he did in his family, but it’s not something she’s ever felt necessary to be put to the test.
“How much farther do we have to go?” Sonja asks Renee, who has been steadily keeping an eye on the crystal over the map just in case Damian’s location moves. It looks as if he’s going to stay put for now, but that doesn’t mean that Renee is just going to stop staring at the map. She knows the moment that she does that he’ll change directions.
“We’re about forty-seven miles outside of Pamplin City, if we stay on course, it should only take us about another hour or two and we’ll make it there.” Renee answers.
But before they could go any farther, a huge eighteen-wheeler truck plows into the side of their van. The truck came out of nowhere and slammed right into the driver side door, slinging Natalia out of her seat as passenger seat where Jackson had been setting.
The car rolled about four times after being hit. Once it stopped not a sound could be heard. It went from talking and laughter, to hearing metal hit metal, to silence. Deafening silence. Smoke filled the air from the van that they had been driving, everyone was lying in a heap of bloody limbs.
Seth was the first one to recover quickly. He had cuts and scrapes all over his body, but thanks to being a Lycan, he’s already started to heal. Khalil is the second to wake up and make his way out of the vehicle, carefully taking Sonja with him. Amillia, who luckily didn’t get hurt as bad as Natalia and Jackson, crawls her way out of the vehicle next. She has a cut on her head and blood running down her face, and she believes her arm is broken from the pain that she’s experiencing.
“This car is going to blow,” Amillia states, barely able to talk at this moment. She reaches up and feels her neck where she can feel warm stickiness flowing out of it as well. A piece of glass has been stabbed into her throat, although the depth is uncertain at this time.
“Let’s just get everyone out of here and away…” Seth says looking around. The truck that hit them is parked about sixty yards away from where the van landed. No one has left the truck that they can tell, but then again it did take them a couple of minutes to come to and make their way out of their vehicle.
Khalil made sure that Sonja was well enough away from the car and went over to where Amillia and Seth are trying to help Natalia and Renee out of the vehicle.
“Go, set with Sonja, and keep an eye on her. I don’t trust her over there alone with that psycho driver out here still,” Khalil says to Amillia who just nods her head in agreement after helping Renee out of the van.
Amillia and Renee make their way over to where Sonja had been placed by Khalil, she’s still out of it. She looks bad, bruises forming all over her body and not an inch of her skin isn’t covered in blood. There’s no way they’re going to be able to travel to that town now, not with everyone being injured and their vehicle in the condition it’s in. They got lucky though, being hit by a semi-truck thing could have been a whole lot worse. If it hadn’t of been for Amillia trying to place a protective shield around them at last minute things would have been worse.
She hasn’t mentioned that to anyone yet, although she knows Seth knows she used her powers. That means that the Wyatt’s can trace the power surge and locate where they are. They’re no longer safe, not that they ever were, but now, it’s a whole different ball game. If they were to be attacked in their current condition, someone will die!
Finally, they all make it out of the car, just barely though. Khalil and Seth had barely hobbled away from the vehicle carrying Jackson between them when the car exploded with a ground shaking bang. It sent the three men flying. Amillia, being more of an action taker, took off in their direction ignoring her protesting aching body. She had to know they are okay, and that the explosion didn’t cause them anymore damage.
Right as she reached them the driver of the truck got out. He had been patiently waiting inside of the semi hoping that the crash alone would take them out. He should have known better though. He knew that he had hit them with enough force, but he had also felt the small shield that Amillia had managed to produce upon impact.
He would not fail this mission and those three sisters will die! He had failed once, the last time he had went to attack Amillia. He just hopes that either she doesn’t recognize him, which he knows is a long shot, or that he can kill her before he has a chance to kill him. Either way it goes, without her head on a platter his life is over.
The short, muscular man walks toward where the three guys lay on the ground. They seem to have been knocked out due to the explosion and the impact it had on them. Amillia is kneeling down beside Seth trying to get him to wake up. That’s the last thing he needs is for the Lycan to wake up.
“Get up bitch!” He barks coldly at Amillia who is still attempting to wake Seth.
Amillia looks up at the sound of the voice. She already knows who it is, although she never expected to see him again. She had figured the bosses would have killed him the last time he attempted murder and failed. They normally aren’t to kind to the ones who fail them.
The man froze for a millisecond with the look that Amillia is giving him. Hey eyes are a sparkling crystal blue with the gold rim shining brightly. She’s pissed and her true self is showing. He isn’t sure which side of her he’s walking up on, but he takes in a deep breath and continues on as if the look of death doesn’t faze him any at all.
“Zander, I give you once chance to leave and one chance only,” Amillia says.
Seth starts to stir besides her, and so does Khalil. He knows that he’s in trouble now. There’s no way he’ll be able to take on all three of them. Seth and Amillia alone are a force to be reckoned with.
“Not a chance Miss Black, I’d rather die here tonight than return a failure.” Zander smirks.
“Again,” Amillia adds for him because he had forgotten a whole part of his sentence. She isn’t about to let him forget that they’ve defeated him before, he just got lucky and ran away with his tail tucked between his legs before they could actually end his life.
That one word was enough to fuel the fire burning inside of the man, and his eyes turned black with his rage. It doesn’t faze Amillia though, she’s not scared of him, she knows fighting him alone he’s going to lose, even he knows this. That’s why he attacked the way he did, in a coward way, trying to take them out the easiest way possible not thinking that they’re all a bunch of supernatural beings that aren’t that easy to kill.
Amillia stands up, her legs are shaking, now she’s sure that she may have a few broken bones in one of them. She’s entirely indestructible, but she can feel the rage building inside of her, if nothing else, she at least has this fight left in her.
She doesn’t even think about it before she throws her open hands up in front of her, making the man's arm shatter into a million pieces and him scream out. She had given him a chance to run, that chance has now passed.
Next, she took out both of his legs, blood pouring from his stubs of his limbs that remained. She hadn’t intended on this not being messy, that’s why she didn’t want to do all of this right now. She’s tired, but this jackass deserves more than he’s getting.
Before she could do anything else, Seth wakes up, looks at Amillia, looks at the man, and then back at Amillia. It all registers to him. It doesn’t take but only two seconds for Seth to be able to piece together what’s going on and what Amillia’s doing.
Instead of allowing Amillia to destroy herself and draw unwanted attention to everyone, Seth races to the man, getting there in no time at all, and snaps his neck clean. In fact, he snaps his neck with such roughness Zanders head detaches from his body.
That doesn’t help the anger bubbling up inside of Amillia, in fact, it does the opposite. Her attention and anger is now turned to Seth. He drops the man’s head and walks toward Amillia. She shoots him with a couple of fireballs, but they don’t faze him. She’s done worse and he knows that she can’t kill him, or at least she wouldn’t ever kill him, he’s almost certain she could if she wanted too.
Seth grabs Amillia and hugs her tightly. He’s taking in all the emotions that he can from her. It’s the bond that they share that allows him to be able to stabilize Amillia when she gets in this type of condition. There’s only two people in any world that’s able to bring her back from the darkest parts of herself, well, technically four, but two are minors so they don’t count, and then there’s Damian and Seth.
“You should have let me kill him Seth,” Amillia says with absolutely no emotions.
“Why?” Seth responds, “So that you can lose your soul and be punished by the fates again along with destroying all the worlds. No ma’am I think not.”
She doesn’t want to admit it, but she knows it’s the truth. So instead of arguing, she hugs Seth back. After a moment of them embracing one another, they both turn around and look at the carnage behind them. The car is aflame, Jackson is still out of it and so is Sonja and Renee. Natalia is just barely awake, but she’s not registered anything that has happened at all. Khalil is starting to wake up, he looks at Amillia and Seth and shakes his head.
“So, do I get to know what happened?” Khalil asks.
“Semi, accident, boom, death,” Amillia responds. “Fire pretty.” She meant for that to come out sarcastic like, but she doubts that how she sounds.
“What are we going to do, there’s more of us down than standing. How are we going to travel forty-seven miles on foot?” Khalil asks.
Amillia looks up at Seth, who nods his head, and then she looks at Khalil. Seth still has one arm around Amillia’s waist, and he doesn’t seem to want to be letting go anytime soon.
“We’re not walking,” Amillia answers, “I’m going to shimmer us there.”
It’s not something she had planned nor wants to do, but it’s the safest way to make sure everyone arrives at their destination in one piece. Although Amillia is quite nervous because she has no idea what she is shimmering everyone into, and that more danger is awaiting them once they arrive.
