Chapter 17
"We will fix the date in five weeks, In shaa Allah." Bashir lowered his gaze, smiling. He was thankful to God for having an understanding parents. "Masha Allah, this is great and to show you that I'm very happy. I will buy everything for her. Furnitures, clothes... Everything you know a bride needs."
"Mama thank you very much for this. I know she'll be so grateful for all these gifts." He smiled brightly. "Anything for my son and daughter. Now I hope you're planing on staying at your house that's next to ours." He slightly nodded. "Yes mama, the house just needs to be furnished that's all."
"That will not be a problem. We will start furnishing immediately the date has been fixed. I will be traveling next week Friday In sha Allah."
"I will remain indebted to both of you for all my life. Your unconditional and selfless love has made me so strong. Its truly a blessing having wonderful parents like you I just want to say that I truly respect both of you. You two are simply the best in everything. And this just makes my heart swell up with happiness. Thank you for every mama and baba. You have done a lot for me and now this. Jazakallahu bil jannah."

"Aidah you have to help me please," malika sobbed hard. "Okay deep breath girl. You want me to go meet her and ask how much she needs to leave Bashir alone? I can do that." Malika nodded rapidly, "yes please when she tells you the amount she wants just call me. I can't bear the pain of losing him. He has built a strong metallic house in my heart, it's unbreakable."
Aidah talked further more and assured her she'll go meet Ameenah that moment. After their call, she got ready and left for Badiko, where Ameenah lives. After reaching their, she parked the car in front of the house and hopped out. She adjusted her Abaya veil, walking into the house without a Salam.
That time Ameenah was washing her mother's clothes. Aidah chuckled dryly, gaining attention from Ameenah. She turned to see Aidah. She washed her hand and walked towards Aidah. "What do you want? Are you here to hurt me again? I'm ready for you two! Where's the other psycho...."
"Hey just shut up!" She cuts her off. "I'm not here so you could blabber whatsoever you want." She added, raising a hand. "Malika sent me. I know you'd like this offer cause, well... just look at where you live, yuck," she grimaced looking around the old house. "Well anyways, tell me how much you need to leave Bashir alone, delete him out of your life. Whatever the amount is, tell me and we'll pay." She finished talking, giving Ameenah a disgusting look.
Ameenah laughed hysterically. "You want me to sell my love for him out just like that? I'm not that cheap, my love is not that cheap. My love for him is priceless. With the way I got him to love me, tell youe stupid rude friend to do the same. Oh, we all know he does not like Malika. Let's say I accept your offer, it won't change anything because.... he does NOT LIKE HER. Not one bit. He is already mine she can't do anything to separate us and if she thinks threatening me or giving me money will work then, game on. Lemme see you guys do it!" After she finished talking, she turned and went back to what she was doing.
"We have followed you the easy way, but you're too stubborn. It's about time we follow you the hard way. You'll see." She sashayed out of the house.
Ameenah hissed loudly, "that is your problem." She murmured and continued washing her mother's clothes. She thanked God Aunty didn't come out, that means she didn't hear anything.
After she had finished the house chores, she headed back to her room to rest before dinner time. She sat on her mattress same time Bashir call came through. "Salamu Alaikum," she answered, all her worried suddenly washed away. "Wa'alaikumus Salam, Precious Gem. How are you today? Sorry I didn't had the chance to call. Was covered with a lot of work and meetings."
"I am good and it's okay. Hope you're home now."
"Well no. Not yet. I’m on a five minutes break before heading to another meeting. I will be traveling in two days to Berlin about some business meetings and purchase some goods." He explained. Her smile suddenly fell. "Hey don't be down my love. I'll be back in less than three weeks. I won't miss our engagement or the day you'll leave for school."
"Ya Rabbi! Three weeks?" She gasped. "I'm afraid so," he sighed. "I wish we were already married I would be taken my wife with me." He teased. "Do you have to go please?" She pouted. He chuckled softly, "I'm so looking forward to all this whining, it's so cute. And I have to go my lady, it's very important. We'll get more rich when everything gets settled. You know babes My heart is only beating for you."
She smiled sheepishly, "my heart is only beating for you too." He rest his back on the chair. "This means you love me?" He asked. She laughed a bit. "Call it whatever you want."
"Hmm, Ameenah I know you love me! And I will never take your love for granted." She chuckled softly. "How's everyone at home?" She asked. "Oh they're all fine. I'll come along with safwana tomorrow. And yes I'm coming tomorrow to see you."
"I can't wait to see her," she grinned from ear to ear. "Oh that means you don't want to see me?" He feigned hurt. "Oh no! I don't mean that." She defended. "I do want to see you too." She added. He chuckled. "I miss your pretty face." And they continued talking for half an hour before saying goodbye.
The next day, she prepared lunch for them. She had her bath and dressed nicely. She waited for them at the living room. After half an hour, she received a call from him. She almost squealed, she rise up to get her hijab in her room before heading out to welcome them in.
Safwana squealed, engulfing Ameenah in a tight hug. "You're so so pretty," she said still hugging her. "Safwana, behave!" He warned. She let go of her. "I'm sorry, I got really excited. She's so pretty, Masha Allah." She grabbed both Ameenah's hand, squealing like a thirteen years old. Ameenah chuckled softly, "Thank you dear, please come in." She offered. She knew they were going to got along just well with his family.
"You have no idea how happy Ya bashir is this past few months. He always talks about you to mama. Mama loves you already. She can't wait to meet you. I'm so so eager for you to join our family. I've been pestering Baba to fix the date soon..."
"Okay!! Saf enough!" He stopped her. She apologized and kept mute. "Allow her please," Ameenah chuckled. "You see Yaya she's the best," she gave Ameenah a side hug.
They sauntered into the living room. She excused herself to call Aunty and get some refreshments for them. She came back with some hibiscus drink and some snacks. And the food she cooked for them. Aunty excused herself and went back to her room.
"So, safwana how's school?" Ameenah started a conversation. "Stressful I'm telling you. I can't wait to finish my Waec and get my phone back from mama," she sighed. Ameenah chuckled. "When will you finish with the exams?"
"In two weeks. In sha Allah."
They talked about random things while Bashir sat there. He sometimes listens, sometimes uses his phone and sometimes talk. After Asr prayers, they set the road Back to Abuja.

Rigid with fury, clasped hands, clenched fists, flushed and mottled neck/face, red in the face, crimson face, lost temper, shouting, yelling, violent, hitting, kicking, grief, self-disgust, self-loathing, remorse, insecure, clumsy aggression, disturbing. Malika furious threw the glass cup making it to shatter on the wall. She let out a very loud and painful scream, gaining attention from her maids.
They stared at her in horror. “What are you looking at? Get out! All of you!” She yelled at them. They disappeared in less than a minute.
“Bashir! Bashir!! You chose that poor brat over me? You chose her over me? I’m going to kill her too. You must become mine.”
“I’m not crazy,” she laughed hysterically. “I’m not crazy,” she repeated clutching on her messy hair.
Deep down inside her she was scared of touching Ameenah. She knew she’d get herself into a big mess if something happens to that girl even if she wasn’t the one that did it. He’ll blame her for whatever happens to Ameenah.
“Ameenah I must find a way to make you stop breathing. You’ll leave him for me. I must end your worthless life.” She mused to herself. “I’m not crazy. I’m not crazy,” she repeated again. “He will become mine!”
But how?
