Just being near her makes me combust like a ticking time bomb. This is annoying, and the fact that she doesn’t want me after the wedding hurts like hell. But I have to give it to her. She needs it, or maybe she needs time away from me, and I need it too. Fuck! Why does everything have to be complicated when I want it the most?

“Seb, what happened to the deal with Mr. Wigner?” Pat’s bossy tone hits my eardrum.

“I don’t like that asshole. I’ll get another deal.”

“What do you mean you’ll get another deal? I’ve been working on that Seb. His product is going to be huge in the market. Can you give me at least a good reason?”

“I don’t like that douche. That’s all.”

“You don’t have to like him. I’ll deal with his douchèness.”

“Christ, Pat. I said no. I don’t want to waste the company’s money on him.”

“Tell me at least why don’t you like him? Is it personal?”

“Nope. He went to Rexwell first. When he didn’t get the deal, that’s the time he approached us. We’re not just a second rate, Pat. There’s something off about him that made my skin prick.”

“Whatever it is. It’s a lost Seb.”

“Not our lost. It’s his.”

“What I mean—” I cut him off.

“I’ll give you bigger than that. Just not that douche.” I have already in mind.

“Whatever.”

“Pat, trust me on this, okay? Did I ever let you down? I told you, just trust me.”

“Fine. I’ll hold on to that. Where is your meeting? I check your calendar with Elle?” Shit, I’m not ready to answer that.

“I’m meeting Abby. She’s leaving tomorrow.” I have to tell the truth minus the wedding part.

“We! You’re dating her. Wait, date? Man—”

“Christ, Pat. It’s early morning. Who would go out for a date early in the morning?”

“You. For a breakfast date. Coffee and beignets or donuts or muffin—”

“Jesus, you’re sick.”

He laughs at me. “Lately, you’re defensive, cuz. She’s got you in your balls, right?”

“I’m not defensive. Whenever I mention Abby, you have this irritating grin on your face, and I can feel you’re doing it right now. And it’s annoying.”

“See? You’re so affected. You’re in love. man. Admit it already. You’ve never been like this before. You never invited someone over a coffee.” That’s right. I’m freaking out here, but this is just one last meeting.

“She’s leaving tomorrow. Shut up, and I’m not gonna see her again. I’m not in love. Jesus.”

“Deny until you can, Seb. You know I’m always here when you need a shoulder to cry on when you realize you’re madly in love with her. And trust me on this one, she feels the same way too.”

“Good lord. Give me a break. I have to go.”

“Okay. Good luck with your date. I’ll see you soon. please, tell Abby that I say hi.”

I groan. “Fine.”

I arrive at the venue earlier than our appointment. I wait inside with my lawyers. After five minutes, she arrives, and she always knows how to make an entrance.

I totally gawk, and she’s the most magnificent woman I’ve ever laid my eyes on. She’s wearing a simple yet elegant off-white dress, a little makeup, and a four inches fuck-me-high-heels. Her hair looks soft, and it bounces when she walks.

“Good morning, beautiful,” I say merrily.

“Good morning, handsome,” she replies with her delightful smile.

“I thought you’re going to ditch me.” I kiss her cheek.

“Why would I do that? You should be the one ditching me, and I won’t be surprised,” she says while playfully rubbing my arm.

I tuck her hair behind her ear. “Not happening, beautiful.”

“Are you sure about that? You still have time, and I promise I won’t get mad.” She looks at me in the eye.

“Baby, I made up my mind. We’re getting married today.”

Her smile grows even wider. “Thanks for doing this. For mom’s.”

“I’m not just doing this for your mom, Abby. I’m also doing this for you, and thank me later when you’re already my beautiful wife.”

She beams, so lovely. God made me in heaven, I want to kiss her like crazy. I’m totally in love with her. Jesus. Never in my fucking life, I thought of this day would come.

“What?” she asks.

“What?”

“You just look at me, and I thought you wanna say something.”

“Sorry. Ready?”

“Yup. Whenever you are.”

She gives me her wide smile that shows off her dimples. Her dad and her best friend will be her witnesses, while mine—my lawyers.

The ceremony is short. After exchanging I do’s and vows and exchanging wedding bands, the official pronounced that we are now husband and wife.
