39 NIGHT STALKER

“Baby, where are you? Thought you’re coming?”

I’ve been here at Night Stalker for an hour, yet no signs of my wife. White, Logan and some of my friends are already in the VIP. They chat and have their drinks. I have to force White and Logan to drink because they don’t drink when they’re working.

“Babe, what’s the call every five minutes. On our way. Trix let me change my outfit for like ten times. So blame your cousin for being so fashionably late.”

“Just keep an eye on them. I’m up here.” Before I can say more, I see my girls.

I watch Mason talk to my wife, and she’s now looking up at me. I walk towards the steel bar that serves as a banister. She smiles and waves when she sees me. I can even see her bright smile and dimples from her. Her eyes glitter from the lights, and she’s magnificent.

“Babe, I wanna dance with Trix, please? Can we talk later?” She uses her sweet innocent voice to please me.

“And what’s that you’re wearing, Abbygail?” She looks down at her small dress.

“I love it, baby, but not with all the drunk and horny assholes around you. They’re probably thinking of you right now pressed against the hallway or in the filthy bathroom while they have their hands all over you.”

I see Mason watching them from the stool bar like a hawk. I run my fingers through my hair and ask for a drink instead. I don’t have to tell the bartender. They know what I drink every time I come here.

White walks toward my direction with a confused look. “Is everything alright?”

“Everything is not fucking alright. See over there?” I point at my wife and Trix dancing together. “My wife wears that barely covers her, and she hangs up on me when I said I wanna talk to her. She chose to dance over me.” I consume the drinks in a gulp.

“I’ll ask Logan to watch over them. Where is Mason?” I see the concern in his eyes.

“Mason is on them already.” Then I see red.

Fuck. This is supposed to be an enjoyable night. They got attention. Those assholes are pressing their filthy bodies to my wife and Trixie. I start walking to the small stairs when a hand grabs me.

“Let Mason and Logan handle them.” White stops me.

“Get your fucking hand off of me, Lincoln. I want my wife off of that fucking dance floor.”

He doesn’t let me go. “When was the last time Abby enjoy her life? They’re just dancing. Calm down. Look?” He points his finger to them.

I see my wife still dancing with Trix, and men are nowhere to find. I relax a bit, and he releases his hand on my arm.

“I got the news about the phone call.” He gets my attention.

After a few hours, she found it on her couch where she searched that place many times. She’s from Boston, a high school teacher, and she didn’t have a visitor that day.”

I furrow my eyebrows. “From Boston?”

He nods. “No fingerprints on her phone. I asked for that too. Since we’re not able to record the call, can’t do voice recognition.”

I just hmmm. “What’s her name?” I ask nonchalantly.

“Lucinda Graves. Want me to check on her?”

I shake my head. I notice Logan sit alone in a stool, and my eyes land to Mason dancing with Trixie, and my wife is with someone I don’t know. They’re not close, but still, it makes my blood boil in my veins.

“Stay here,” I tell Lincoln and stride my way down the stairs before he can stop me. In no time, I’m walking past the very crowded dance floor. I could smell the sweat, perfume, and beers everywhere. I want to gag, but I have to get through my wife. I grab the arm of the man dancing with my wife who still doesn’t notice me.

He looks at me, and he may have recognized me. He walks away without a word. I grab my wife’s waist, and she yelps in surprise then she smiles when she knows it’s me.

I knock the bathroom door louder than necessary. “Abbygail? Abby, open the fucking door!” I bang the door when she doesn’t answer.

White comes rushing me. “What happened?”

“Abby, are you in there?” I hear the door unlock then she peeks from the door.

“What happened? The way you knock it’s like something emergency? Are you okay, love?” She looks worried and holds my hand. I still didn’t tell her about her friend, and I still don’t know how to break it to her.

“What took you so long using the bathroom? You made me worry.” Thank God I came up with a good excuse.

She rolls her eyes and pecks my cheek. “I’m done. Shall we go?”

White looks at me like he’s not impressed, and he knows something happened.

I throw him a look to shut up and talk later. We join my friends who look all shocked and all eyes to the woman beside me. I squeeze her hand and roll my eyes to them.

“Everyone, this is Abbygail. My wife.” Nobody says hi or moves, and just fucking look at her, then Paul barks out laughing. He fucking laughs at me.

“Fine. Nice move to keep my dick away from her. Man, she’s hot.”

I glare at him. “Fuck off, or I’ll burn down your bar with you.”

George and her husband Brody exchange look, stand up and offer a hand to Abby.

“Hi, I’m George, and this is my husband, Brody. We’re Seb’s friends, and we work with him too.”

Abby happily shakes their hands. “Abbygail. Just call me Abby, the wife,” she says.

I see Patrick smirk and stand up. “Abby baby, good to see you here. I don’t even know you’re allowed at an establishment like this,” he teases Abby and hugs her.

“Good to see you too, Patty.” She taps Patrick’s back stronger than necessary.

I laugh. “Good for you, Patty.” I let Abby sit beside me. “You won’t drink, baby.”

She arches her brow. “Who said I’m not allowed to drink? I have an ID that proves I’m old enough to drink. .” She smirks, showing her fake ID.

“Fake ID. Yeah, and where did you get that?” I scowl. I don’t remember she has it.

“Mason did it for me.”

I groan. “I’ll have a word with Mason later.”

She bumps her shoulder against me. “Oh, come on. Loosen, Sebastian. Just one drink. Anyway, you’re here with me. What could go possibly wrong?” She smiles that I know I can’t say no. When I lift gaze, everyone just looks at us like we’re from a different planet.

I crease my eyebrows on them. “‘Sup with the look?”

They just shrug without a word.

“You’re serious with the wife thing?” Paul asks me and glances at Abby.

“Of course, I am. Why would I joke about marriage? Abby is my wife. You don’t believe me, who cares?”

“Do your parents know about it? And what’s with the disappearance, man?” He doesn’t seem convinced.

“I sleep in the underground at my house. My wife was in Boston, who only knows that place exists.”

Abby orders her drink from the bartender.

George talks to Abby, and they start giggling together. George even moves and sits beside Abby. I see Trix walking towards us with Mason on her side. I look at Patrick who’s ready to punch Mason on the face.

“Patrick, don’t.” I give him a warning.

Trixie and Mason join us, and I excuse myself from them. I kiss the head of my wife and motion Lincoln to follow me. I walk to Paul’s office. Seconds later, Lincoln, Mason, and Logan join me.

“He called my phone, and he has been watching Abby dancing.” I fish out my phone and show them the call log. It only lasted 6 seconds.

“Logan, anything you can share?” I cross my arms over my chest.

“Nothing much. You’re right about the suspicions. He must have noticed me following his whereabouts. He’s still in Boston when I flew here this morning.” Logan rubs the back of his neck.

“I broke-in to Dr. Peters patient’s file, and Tennings’ file was not there. I doubted if Tennings is his real name. He went to visit the client’s house. A woman in her late twenties.”

Lincoln cuts him off. “What’s her name? The woman?”

Logan looks surprised. “Lucy Meyers. A high school teacher.”

I run my fingers through my hair. This is unbelievable.

I put two and two together. She’s the same woman that Tennings stole the phone from.

“He’s here,” I finally tell them. “Tennings is her stalker. I should tell Abby.”

“What should you tell me about, Sebastian?” Abby’s voice startles me, and standing’s at the door.
