In the land.
"Woah."
Tahni gasped looking around at where they found themselves. Twas a path which leads to the market square.
"Let's hurry up, else we would miss the motive of being here."
Ayla urged and pulled Tahni with her through the path. Her hold on her was soft but pulls strongly. Twas one of those wonders of a Nymph that she probably wouldn't understand.
Ayla slackened her place suddenly as they caught up with some group of women walking towards the market too. The group seemed to had been plunged into a wave of gossip.
"Keep your ears sideways, but your eyes forward."
Ayla urged. Tahni looked at her and nodded her head. They kept their pace at a regular but filtered sequence as they listened to the women converse,
"I heard that some men just arrived our land from a place called Aiowa."
"I heard that that land has a lot of gold but the sacrifice to get it is too overwhelming."
"I sure would love to go there."
"I have spoken to my husband about migrating but he wouldn't allow me. He would keep dismissing my opinions. I don't know why men think our opinions aren't worth their attention. And when they have been fooled by their mates they come back to cry on our necks."
"See, I believe that we don't really have what to say. You know, we women are moved by emotions easily. So we might end up acting based on our emotions. And we might foolishly lead them to their doom. I'll say that it's better that we remain in our position and wait for them to come cry on our neck."
The comment of that woman pissed Tahni off so greatly that she was going to say a thing when Ayla squeezed her hand and shook her head in a don't-even-dare kinda expression.
They kept their heads low as the women continued,
"Keep your opinion to yourselves. Isn't that why your husband keeps hopping from one concubine to the other? You're just a puppet in the house who does chores, a sex slave, baby factory."
"Well, I'm glad. How about your own? Aren't you in your fifth house. Probably you had a deal with your ancestors to have 12 husbands before you return to them."
"Yes! I'd rather be a widow or keep hopping from one man to another till I find the right one, than accept trash and keep living as a shadow of myself. I don't have the luxury."
"Cat and rat, meet us. We'll be at the market."
The rest of the group hastened their paces as the two arguing women walked on, arguing indistinctly.
"What a dummy."
Tahni cussed bitterly as soon as the fellows walked off.
"Women are the problems of each other."
She added and Ayla smiled,
"That's a natural order for all gender."
"That's no true."
Tahni argued and kept on,
"At least men agree on many things. Like agree on maltreating their wives, subjecting them to fear, making them think that they don't have the right to speak up and the likes. Sometimes I feel like the fear of that made my mother rogue."
She paused as Ayla looked at her. Ayla's gentle but cute face tuning. Her well shaped eyelids flapping rhythmically.
"Women also have things they agree on. Clothes, parties and all. I guess all that need to be done for both gender is that, either should change what they agree on. It's as simple as that."
Tahni sighed and said,
"You must be lucky to be a Nymph. You sure don't have problems. You get whatever you want."
She looked at Tahni and smiled.
"Let's not talk about that."
"Please tell me."
Tahni urged but then she shunned Tahni. They had just gotten to the entrance of the market. There was a pair of men walking by too.
Tahni understood what they were to do. They caught up with the pace of the men walking through the market and maintained the same pace.
"It's a wonder that majority of us still stay here. I was going to move out soon but then I caught a sight of this beautiful lady. Damn! She was a beaut."
"Do you think at all other than ladies?"
"What else should I think about? You? You don't have boobs that I'll suck. Neither do you have p--"
"Just shut up. We're in the market."
"Market indeed."
There was silence for a while and Tahni was already going to give up when one of two men resumed,
"Speaking of which, some group of men walked in. I'm not certain what their business is but if feels fishy. Like they are not here for anything good."
"I was going to bring that up. I felt them odd too. I think they are here for war. Actually I heard one of the chiefs saying that war is about to break out if half of the land is not given to them."
"Half of the land? Are they stupid? How crazy is that? Isn't that insane. Is it because we don't have a king anymore or because the princess had been sent away?"
"What does it matter. Most times I feel from the princess, I wish I could help her."
"You wish you could help her or lay with her! Fucker!"
They both laughed and suddenly, one of them looked in the direction of Tahni and Ayla.
"Ah. Speaking of ladies. What do we have here?"
"Turn."
Ayla ordered Tahni and immediately they both turned their backs on the two men. But they faced a women who was dealing with snakes. Snakes climbing up and off her body. Tahni was flustered but Ayla held unto her. She couldn't explain what happened then, she felt a sudden peace.
"Hello beauties."
The men had gotten to their back. Ayla gave her a signal to keep still but then one of the men grabbed the ass of Tahni and she spun around immediately. She landed a slap on his face.
"Da."
Ayla muttered and turned to defend Tahni. But suddenly, two hefty men began to hurry towards the direction of the two men. The one who wasn't slapped held unto the other and said,
"Come. Strange officers. Let's go."
The both men turned and began to hurry away, but the slapped one called,
"Let's not meet again."
Tahni looked away from them to the so called Strange Officers, who kept running to catch up with the two men.
"Quite a show. We should return home."
Ayla said finally as Tahni followed her. She didn't feel like saying a thing anymore. She felt used. Abused.
