Some Twist
On a road.
"It's feels good now. Don't you think?"
Tahni said looking at the path up ahead of them. Ayla made a sound in her throttle and nodded her head without saying a thing.
The both of them were walking back to their former house. Yes! Former. The return of Athena had changed everything. And now they wouldn't have to live in hide anymore.
Therefore, they had been sent by the King and Queen to go fetch their sister, Prium. None of them could really explain why Athena was so eager to want to see her. Prium of all people.
Tahni felt like when Athena discovers who Prium really was, probably, her interest would change. Or come to think of it, who knows? She might had change due to the magic rain which had made the forest greener and richer.
Even on their way, they had seen some new creatures on the trees. Creatures they had never seen before.
Tahni looked at Ayla. The latter hadn't seemed herself since they left the palace. She meant to figure out what the problem was, and she wouldn't possibly come to the answer if she kept quiet. She cleared her throat,
"You do not seem yourself. What's the problem?"
Ayla looked at her and smiled.
"What are you talking about?"
Tahni scoffed and hesitated for a while. Then she moved closer to her (they were walking side by side). She held Ayla's hand,
"I do not know you with pretense, Ayla. Please don't give me that."
Ayla shot her a quick glance and sighed. She didn't say a thing yet. They were coming closer to the cut which would lead them to the lake.
Twas noon as the calling of the birds were getting louder. Though some were in sequence, but there were rather disturbing rattles and movements in the woods. But what was there to fear? Ayla was there with her.
"I know you love my father."
Ayla stopped walking at once. She turned to Tahni staring at her with no expression. Tahni for few seconds feared that she had said what she shouldn't had but then owned up to the stance,
"That was why you held back the return of Athena from him. I know twill be hard on you that she has returned and your time with him will be truncated."
Ayla looked away from her and caught the sight of an orangutan: One of the new creatures. She ignored the distraction and looked back at Tahni. She put one of her palms to Tahni's cheek and stroke it gently,
"First of all, I'm not leaving. Athena sees it fit that I stay with your father and her. And about what you said, I have no idea what you're talking about. Maybe you've mistaking my loyalty and neutrality to your father as love. So, catch up."
She contoured her face somehow at the end of the last sentence and let her palm slid off Tahni's cheek, softly and somewhat romantically.
Tahni watched her go but wasn't ready to give in easily. She called at her,
"I saw you kiss him."
Ayla stopped again. Her back to Tahni who was closely expectant of what the next action would be. Ayla turned to face her and sighed.
Then she began to walk towards Tahni as the latter argued,
"You probably have an explanation for that."
Ayla didn't respond. She got to Tahni and stood before her, very closely, like she wanted to walk into her. She ran her arm around Tahni's waist, but the hold was too strong for Tahni to fight.
She kissed her. Suddenly the both of them were thrown into the apt atmosphere. And soon, they found themselves on the extended wooden base of the house. Directly opposite the door.
Unfortunately, Prium was at the door, leaning on the doorpost. As soon as she saw them appear. She didn't let the magic of disappearing get to her.
All she could see was Ayla holding unto Tahni closely and their lips hovering over each other's. She built on it,
"You want to marry all of the members of my family right, witch?"
Tahni let go of Ayla as they both looked in the direction of Prium, who was shooting the rude and ruthless gaze. Her flat chin and stiffened single dimple on her right cheek, canvassing her Indifference,
"Mother would probably have to join us soon. Since now you've taken down father and Tahni. Or do you think I don't know that you love my father?!"
Prium was walking towards them. Tahni stepped forward and stood in her way as she shot,
"Get out of my way, little sister and let me drown this witch!"
Tahni scoffed, shaking her head,
"Don't be ridiculous, Prium. Someone is a great fan of you. She wants to see you. You should come with us. Father is with her."
Prium's eyes widened, her jaw stiffened,
"Father is with her? Who is she to father?"
"Athena."
Prium grabbed Tahni's arm with such force of jealousy,
"That demon? Did she arrive? Where is she? So, she's real?!"
"You're hurting me."
Tahni groaned reaching her hand to Prium's which was squeezing her muscles. Ayla came to her aid and knocked Prium's hand off. Prium went mad,
"That witch!"
She threw her arm to hit Ayla but Tahni held it. Tahni said hurriedly,
"Let this go, sister. Come with us. You will be very surprised at what you'll see today. Father is no longer the old man you used to know. Damn! He's now --"
"Tell me."
She grabbed Tahni's two arms roughly. Tahni was fragile to her hold but she persevered.
"Come with us first. You'll see for yourself."
"One moment."
She let go of Tahni and hurried into the house.
"What are you going to take?"
Tahni asked and sighed. Ayla kept her cool but indifferent face. Prium hurried out again, in her hand was a scroll. The scroll she had always read.
"What will you do with that?"
Tahni bruised her curiosity. Prium shot,
"Does it matter? Let's go."
At that, Ayla grabbed Tahni quickly and held closely like before. Her face was on Tahni's, Tahni could feel the Nymph's breath washing her face. Ayla said to Prium hurriedly,
"Find your own way."
She kissed Tahni and the air accommodated them. Prium has hurried in vain to separate them.
She grunted and gritted her teeth in frustration. She cussed,
"That witch!!"
She walked to the edge of the water and muttered,
"How do I swim across this without getting this scroll wet?"
She itched her hair in frustration,
"What if a hammerhead is in this lake?"
Then she heard a noise from the shore of the lake up ahead of her. She saw Tahni and Ayla at the shore. Tahni calling at her.
She watched Ayla hold unto Tahni's hand as they began to run into the forest.
"I'll kill her."
She promised and plunged herself into the lake. Her fear seemed to had been gobbled by her rage.
