Bonus 2
Dorothy’s P.O.V
3 years ago:
“Fucking, Trevor!” I looked at my phone for the thousandth time. He was supposed to pick me up after class at 4PM, but it was past 4.30 and I had been calling and texting him for the last half hour to no avail.
“What’s gonna be his excuse this time? Abducted by aliens or fell into a crater and ended up on the other end of the earth?” I hugged, flipping my dark hair behind my back.
I could’ve asked Flora to pick me up, but she was busy frolicking with the future Alpha, out in the woods somewhere.
Ever since the rogue attack, Flora and Clay have been inseparable and even though I didn’t admit it to Flora…I have been feeling a bit left out. And now, even my boyfriend was ghosting me.
“Looks like I’ll be walking home after all.” I rolled my eyes and switched off my phone. If Trevor wasn’t going to answer my call, then I won’t be answering his either.
“Hey…need a ride?”
“Look dude, whoever you are, I’m no-Riley?”
When I got the offer, I had thought it was one of the creepy kids in college trying to flirt with me, but never in a million years had I thought it would be Flora’s extremely hot older brother. Shit! Way to ruin an impression!
Riley Argentine raised his eyebrows at me, his icy blue eyes sparkling with amusement and I blushed from embarrassment. “Yes,” I almost cursed myself out loud for squeaking. “I-I’ll need that ride.”
“Hop on.” He patted the seat behind him on his bike, offering me a spare helmet.
“Thank you…” I took the helmet from him shyly. Damnit! Why did I always act like such a klutz in front of Riley? The man was damn fine and yes, I’m the shameless bitch who’s ogling her best friend’s older brother. I know it’s against all kinds of girl codes, but can you blame me? Riley was H.O.T. Handsome; Ogle worthy and Totally fuckable.
Yes, I just said that. Sue me.
I put on the helmet and climbed on top of the bike behind Riley. I was nervous placing my hand on his shoulders to get on the bike, so I used the handle at the back. A whiff of his fresh cologne hit me and I found myself moving closer just to get a better scent.
Earthy, masculine and a bit lemony…it was a combination that ticked off all the right kinds of boxes and I didn’t even know I had preferences for male scents until now.
“Hold on tight,” Riley told me over his shoulder, shutting the face shield thing on his helmet. “Flora will skin me alive if any harm shall come to thou.”
I laughed at the unexpected joke. Damn, hot with a sense of humor was a deadly combo, and-damn girl! How could I forget I already had a boyfriend? This always happened when I saw Riley. Too bad I couldn’t date him without it being awkward between me and Flora.
A bit hesitantly, I wrapped my arms around Riley’s waist. I could feel the hard planes of his abs through the shirt he was wearing and there was nothing I would’ve wanted more than to feel them skin to skin. Was it his scent that had me intoxicated? Because I swear I wasn’t always this horny.
Riley started the bike and before I could comprehend, we were speeding out of the school and moving in the direction of the housing areas. The wind blew back my hair and I clutched Riley even tighter, feeling the thrill of the ride in my veins. I’d been on bikes with other men before, but why did riding with Riley feel different? Maybe a taste of the forbidden fruit?
But the ride came to an end far too soon for my liking and within five minutes, he was parking the bike in front of my house.
Unwillingly, I let go of his waist, realizing a bit too late that I had literally been plastered to his back all this time. Embarrassed once again at my behavior, I took off the helmet in haste and went to get off the bike just as quickly…but my heels slipped on the exhaust pipe and I was falling backwards while my other leg was still on the other side of the bike.
“Shit!”
Before I knew it, Riley spun around and grabbed me around the waist so instead of falling backwards, I fell on top of him instead. I wrapped my arms around his shoulders to break my fall…and that’s how we ended up in an awkward position, half on top of him, looking like there was more going on between us than there actually was.
“I’m so sorry!” I said at the same time that Riley asked, “Are you alright?”
“Yes,” I nodded as he held onto me, while I untangled my legs and placed them firmly on the ground. “I’m so, so, sorry. I swear I’m not always this much of a klutz.”
Riley laughed at my words, the sound open and free. “I’m sure.” He said looking up into my face.
For a second, his icy blue eyes were all I could see. They were beautiful, just like the rest of him, and-
“Ruth?”
Startled at the shocked voice, I turned around to find Trevor standing behind me with a bouquet of red roses, looking at me like he had just been cheated on. It was also at that moment that I realized Riley’s arms were still around my waist and mine were around his shoulders.
Removing our arms from around each other almost instantly, I brushed my hair out of my face and gave Riley a nervous smile. “Thanks for the ride.”
“Anytime.” Riley gave me a mock salute and starting his bike once more, whooshed past us like a bullet, leaving me to deal with Trevor all alone.
I turned to face him wearily. “It’s not what it looks like.”
“But…but…” He opened and closed his mouth like a goldfish out of water, unable to form words.
“I tripped on my heels!” I shook my head and narrowed my eyes at him instead. “And what are you doing here? You were supposed to pick me up today.”
“Yeah…umm…” Trevor scratched the back of his head nervously. “I dropped my phone in the bathtub…sorry.”
“Seriously!” I threw up my hands in the air in exasperation. “Never mind!”
I went to sidestep him, but he blocked my path, giving me his best puppy-dog look and holding out the bouquet for me to take.
Now how could I stay mad at that?
Smiling at his adorable antics, I took the bouquet and gave him a kiss on the lips. “Fine. I forgive you…for now.”
“Yay!” Trevor laughed and wrapped an arm around me as we walked inside my house. But all the while, the only thought going through my head was…in the last five minutes, what I felt with Riley…why didn’t I feel the same with Trevor in our entire relationship?
-------The End------
And that, my friends, is the end of The Curse of Selene Duology! Ofh! It's been a hell of a ride, but all good things must come to an end. I hope you liked to read Clay and Flora's story as much as I like to write. But now, off to the next story. One last time, I hope you enjoyed this story! Stay safe and happy reading!
