"No problem, Nay."

She disappeared from my sight into the dark door on the right of the kitchen. I'm guessing it's a back door. Crossing my arms on my chest, I averted Maverick's eyes and stared hard at the floor as if it would start speaking to me.

"Are we going to do it tonight?" I asked to break the gnawing silence.

Maverick looked at me and shook his head as if he didn't anticipate what he heard. "Sex is the last thing on my mind right now, Femella. I'm thirsty and hungry. Save your excitement for the next few days. I'm sure you need lots of energy." He winked at me.

I closed my eyes as I struggled to hide my blushing face. "Stop it. I'm not excited. I just want this to be done and over. And I'm warning you, I don't have any idea how to pleasure a man. Don't expect me to go circus-like."

He laughed.

"Can you hear yourself? Of course I'll do the work because as you know, I'm a very hardworking man."

"Mab, come here and eat now! The table is ready!" Nay Paz called us.

"Come on." He pulled my hand together with him as he stood up.

"Can you please let go of me for Pete's sake, Maverick," I hissed. "I know the way and just like you, I'm also hungry and I already accepted your upper hand in this situation so will you stop assuming that I might go sprinting away from here?"

"It's better to be sure. I can't give you any leeway to run away."

"As if I can escape this place which I don't even have an idea of where in the goddamn map of the world. I did agree already, didn't I?"

"Good. Now let's eat," he said dismissively.

He pulled a chair from under the table for the two of us and sat right next to me.

"What a beautiful woman you bring, Mab Mab. Is she finally your girlfriend? She's much more beautiful than the girls I saw you with." The old lady kept telling us as she filled our glasses with water.

"Yes, Nay. She's Femella, my girlfriend."

A sarcastic escaped my lips when I heard him utter it with such pride and mockery. I tried to object but his firm hand was on my hand under the table and squeezed it lightly after shooting me a look that says I will not like it if he didn't want my answer.

"Fem is naturally shy with people around. She's sometimes aloof with people she just met," he added while still giving me a side look.

Me? Shy? Wow! He seriously needs to rethink of another word to describe me.

I glared at Maverick before looking at Nay Paz who's smiling from ear to ear. I can clearly see through her smile like she's amused for witnessing a lover's banter.

"Mab is right, Nay Paz. I get especially cautious when I'm with him because of our gap in everything. I mean he's rich while I'm not. She's surrounded by many other equally wealthy girls in the same circle." I put my eyes down and sighed. "Sometimes I question myself if I'm really enough for him." I toned down my voice a little to make my acting more effective.

"Mab Mab! I didn't raise you to treat a woman like that! I was only away from the mansion for years and now I will know that you are being like this? You don't do that to a woman especially to your girlfriend. I didn't raise you to be a disrespectful man!"

Maverick stiffened in his seat and then erupted into a soft laughter.

"You know how I love women, Nay. I wouldn't hurt them. Maybe Fem is just misinterpreting my possessiveness with her, right babe? Hmmm?"

He wrapped his arm around my shoulder and nudged me while faking a smile. I returned the fake smile and stomped at his foot a little too harshly which earned a soft squeal from him.

"You two are already in your right mind. You know what you are doing. Just a little reminder to you Mab to never hurt a woman. Karma will get back to you badly. Believe me. I have lived long enough to see how men grovel to their feet. Now finish your food. I will just prepare the room for you. Fem, do you have some clothes in you? I could lend you some. My niece left some of her clothes."

I shook my head.

"I got none. Thank you."

She smiled at me and left us. We continued eating while throwing occasional glances at each other. One time I caught him just staring at me at which I just shrugged. I didn't put much thought on how he's looking at me as if he's trying to remember something out of my face.

"You were quite a good actress." He broke the silence.

"You too. You deserve an Oscar award."

I picked up the chicken using my hand, dabbed it in the chili sauce and put the whole meat in my mouth.

"I wonder why you didn't pursue it. You're good at acting. Why did you end up in the club instead of showbiz."

I chewed loudly and downed some water.

"If I do, then I will not be here and you will not be able to bring me into your bed because by that time, I'll be swimming in money so I won't be needing it."

"Nice point there."

Nay Paz appeared from the door on the left.

"Mab, the bed is ready for the two of you. All the mattresses and the pillows are in the closet. Fem, the clothes are in the closet. If you wish to wash up then you can use the bathroom outside. Mab, you tell Fem where it is. I have to retire as early as now. My age is catching up on me. Goodnight, children."

She kissed our heads. I smiled sadly at myself at a memory. My grandmother used to kiss me in my head after saying goodnight.

"Alright. Goodnight." We said in unison. She looked at us and smiled warmly before going off.

I stood up carrying my plate and started washing it on the sink. I saw Maverick in my peripheral vision cleaning the table. I can't help but raise my brows at his sight. I never thought he could be this domesticated. And it looks like he's treating the old lady as a family member, a far cry from his personality, at least the arrogant and so full of himself type of Maverick he's showing me.

"Our room is on the farthest left of the hallway. I always use it every time I'm here. If you want to freshen up, the bathroom is outside that back door. Left side. The switch of the light is beside the door. You go first. I'll smoke outside."

He turned his back on me.

"I could escape. It never crossed your mind?" I stopped him.

"You won't do it. I know you won't." He said and walked out the front door.

After finishing all the dishes, I went to the room Maverick told me about. It is simple just like the rest of the house. There's a small wooden bed in the center and an old closet in a corner. On top of the bed are some mattresses, towels, pillows, clothes, and some basic toiletries. There's also a fan on the other side of the bed. Aside from that, there's no other stuff inside it.

I got the towel, the clothes, and the soap and went out of the house. After cleaning myself, I went into the backyard to find the man but he wasn't there so I just went back to the room and waited for him.

I turned on the fan and made myself comfortable in the bed I made out of the mattresses and some more I got from the closet. Pulling the blanket up to my neck, I stared at the ceiling and started counting the lizards.

I don't want to think anything about everything right now. I'm too exhausted and spent. Maybe I'll just let it be for now. No overthinking. Just maybe after this stint we have, after I pay my dues to him. After all, I'm used to not thinking extensively given how low I've become because of my job.

The door opened and Maverick came in with his travelling bag. He has changed into casual white shorts and a shirt.

He put down the bag on the floor and climbed on the bed. Instinctively, I scampered to the farthest side and stayed there until he gave me enough space. I slowly went back to my original position and waited for his move.

I hope we don't do it tonight. Please, we shouldn't.

My eyes widened when he began removing his shirt.

"Hey, I thought you're tired... D-do you want to do it now?" I asked nervously.

He moved to lay on his stomach and closed his eyes.

"It's hot. I told you there's no aircon here."

I breathed a sigh. That's a relief. It's embarrassing if they hear us doing the deed.

Absentmindedly, my gaze turned to Maverick. He's really got a good body, I have to give him that. His arms were very toned, a product of his daily workout and his exhibition of extreme sports. His pecs and abs are on display. My hunch is right when we were in the helicopter earlier. His pair of arms are really big, strong, and veiny. I wonder how it feels to touch it with my own hands. My eyes went back to his chest. This man is very clean-looking. No marks. No tattoos. There's nothing in there except his hard muscles. My gaze went lower and lower to his lower stomach where that bulge is. I gulped. Is it big? I'm sure it's not the usual average size. I tried to get away from his arms but he just tightened his hold around me.

He slowly loosened his grip on me. I thought he's going to free me completely from his arms but he just adjusted his embrace. He got my hand arm and snaked it on his waist and then he put his thigh on me.

"I don't know what you are doing with me. You don't know what I have done just to get you," he whispered.

He caressed my back gently while sniffing my hair. "Sleep, Fem."

I don't know if it has something to do with his soothing voice or the way he possessively holds me or am I just too tired but I found myself giving in to his words. I succumb to sleep in an instant.
