Author POV.
Mangala village, The small village near Karnataka. It’s located near Bandipur. The small village with a total population of five thousand plus. Mangala village is also a gram panchayat.
The small village with a small number of people, minding their own business other than using others.
The village as a spectacular view. Though it is not much popular, the countable tourist does visit it occasionally. Most of the places are owned by the rich people who convert it into a beautiful estate and appoint a watchman to look after it. This may be the reason for less population or a small village.
The village has it’s own beauty. Every season is like new ornaments the village keen to wear. Autumn and winter seasons are one of the best ornament to be mentioned. Even the tourists do visit at this time rather than any other seasons.
Yadavi birthplace is this village. The soul has gained it’s independent after her parents left her. She is an orphan, who doesn’t know anything or rather experienced any parenthood. She was adopted by a family when she was five years. From that time her life as been throwing a new challenge at her. Her adopted parents are Rajeshri and Malhar. She somehow had a small hope of happiness of earning a parents love, but everything turned upside down. As there is saying “the more you expect, the more you repent” became true in her life. She is living expectation less life. Her adoptive parents are voracious people who wanted a maid for a lifetime with no expense. So they adopted her to be a maid. The whole village knows this couple and called them voracious for their greediness. They don’t make any relationship even though they make any conversation with them try to escape soon. Thankfully her adopted parents had a kind heart to let get study till her adult age. It was only possible because of some humble villagers and free government school and college.
At a small age, she learnt big lessons in life. She built her own, with her morality and humanity. She is living her life on her. She grew in an independent but yet as a caged bird. In life, some of them helped her unexpectedly like her class teacher who enrolled her name in scholarship and opened a bank account for her, her neighbour aunty who gave her a part-time work to stitch clothes and paid her.
After fifteen years of struggles and hardship. Her life turned into a big hurricane. When her Rajeshri decided to marry her to some locals. Rajeshri was blind in the dowry she was getting in the transfer of Yadavi. Both husband and wife agreed to this alliance without thinking much about Yadavi. As she was growing they can’t her responsibility. They had their own children’s to look after.
Yadavi was not willing to marry anyone at this age. She had dreams to concur. She explained to them multiple types of her situation. She is even ready to be a maid of them for a long time. But nothing distracted the greedy couple in front of huge money. She was not knowing what to do. Where to seek help. She tried to run away, but she was locked in her room.
All she knows few days left with her. All the arrangements were made for marriage. Everything was selected according to the preference of Rajeshri.
Finally, the day has arrived for a greedy couple to earn a huge amount and for Yadavi to take a huge step.
Rajeshri forcefully made Yadavi as a bride. She chose a simple plain red saree with small jewellery.
Yadavi looked opposite to bride. Though she did not have fair skin, the red saree complimented her limestone colour skin. Her hair aspires with jasmine flowers. Her hands shimmered with red bangles.
She had never made any progress in her beauty or appearance. She accepted what she was and is. She never bothered about her skin nor hair.
The girl who had much in her plate did not have time to look after her beauty.
Rajeshri dragged the unwilling Yadavi to the mandap (marriage place) covering her face with pallu (last and backside petals of saree). Only a few members were present as one wanted any relationship with the greedy couple.
The marriage is taking place in a small temple, which is also a tourist site. It was winter season and everyone was covered in thick sweaters other than the bride, who was shivering in cold.
Yadavi was made to seat near a groom, whom she not even seen. The rituals and holy chants started. Rajeshri forcefully made Yadavi perform. Everyone present can see the disappearance of the bride, but no one initiated to stop the marriage.
At last when the time came to tie the wedding chain. The groom stood up unstable and dangling around. He was drunk to rotten. He was unstable to tie a thread around her. Due to heavy dose, he fell on Rajeshri putting wedding chain on her.
As soon as this happens murmur sounds started. Some started giggling seeing Rajeshri. Her husband helped her get away from a drunkard. Some started to talk bad mouth about the bride. The groom side was trying to wake the drunker groom to perform the last rituals. In all this drama one soul was happy that is Yadavi, who was praying to God without taking a breath.
Some people started to accuse her. Even her adoptive parents bad-mouthed her and called her witch, bad omen etc…
Rajeshri didn’t stop there she taunted her parents. She cursed her.
In all this chaos a loud and shrill voice echoed the temple….
The stranger said only one sentence that made everyone to stop in there place. His only sentence made Yadavi life turn three sixty degrees.
“I will marry her” thus sentence still was echoing in her ear and mind. She didn’t even have time to digest the words he had already tied the holy wedding tread around her neck.
Chapter 2.
After few months……..
Yadavi POV.
After the tragic incident in my life. My adopted family disowned me. As they didn’t got their money. I left the place with my husband, Amandeep. When I first saw him. I really got scared seeing his hard personality. He has good looking with good physique. He has a dark skin tone and sharp facial features. He was welcoming seeing my hesitation towards him. I stayed with him for one month. He was similar as me. He is also a orphan.
Being lonely he work hard to feed himself. He works in army. We both spent a month together knowing each other. He was very attentive and listen to me.
We both shared our stories with each other. He gave me a space to accept the changes and never forced me on anything. In initial stage I felt peculiar to be around him. After spending some time we became some what like housemates. But I am still not comfortable with him.
After a month he got a letter from army calling him back to work. He himself doesn’t know when he will return.
He suggested me to accomplish my dreams. He was supportive and didn’t restricted me much. He always tried to be over friendly with me which I didn’t like much.
So I decided to complete my dreams. My dream is to stand on my own and to learn as much as possible, to gain knowledge, to be what I am without any hurdles.
I day when he wanted leave for army. I went with him to drop him. I stayed till the train arrive. He look my hands in it and creased it. He kissed my cheeks. I pulled myself away from him. As I felt uncomfortable by feeling his on my cheeks. He told to take care of me. He gave me a address to write a letter for him whenever I am free.
After he left to army. I started to make a plan to move on to city. It took me a month to get all things which I left in my adopted parents place. They created a huge drama even in giving my things back. From the support of neighbours and known people I was successful in getting my things.
After packing all my things and getting the list of college I want to join from near by cyber centre. I even measured my savings in bank. I left the village with god’s blessings.
It has been a day that I came to the city. (I don’t want to mention any places so you guys just imagine some city name). I am staying in a local hotel room, which I am not liking much. Today I am going to search for a job and the colleges I have made a list. First I bought a news paper. I searched for a jobs in that. I created my resume and went for interview. Most of them rejected as I was from village, less education and without experience.
In the evening I started to visit the college’s only to get familiar with roads. I visited some Colleges to which the watchman didn’t allow me inside as the college was closed. After visiting few I came to my room.
I neither had any phone or number to contact Amandeep. Now I miss him. At least he would have helped me. I thought selfish to think like that because he would be facing more than me in army.
Next day was also a same routine. But I changed it. I thought to visit some Colleges first and get to know the admission structure. This may help me to get a job according to my expenses. So I revisited the college’s which I visited them yesterday. I had made a list of all government colleges, because that is what I am accountable.
I went a government college and showed my documents and the course I am opting to do. They agreed for my admission but asked me to pay the fees immediately as I am already too late admission.
The fees was affordable. I have that much money. But if I pay everything for my admission what shall I pay for my personal expenses and room rent.
I was thinking about my problems and didn’t know when I reached a main road and got it my a speed moving car……

Chapter – 4
Author POV
Aarna: what seriously are you married??
Yadavi: I married a month ago.
Eshanth: then why are you here roaming alone. Where is your husband?? He should be the one to look after you.
Yadavi: actually he works in army. So I am here to search for college.
Aarna: what is your husband name??
Yadavi: Amandeep.
Eshanth: which college are you joining??
Yadavi: any government college.
Aarna: ohh. You can get a nice college. Why government college only??
Yadavi: it will be better. And I don’t have so much money to pay there.
Aarna: it’s okay. In which stream you are??
Yadavi: I didn’t decide anything. Whichever streams admission will be less I will join that.
Soon they reached the destination, the hotel in which Yadavi was staying. Eshanth looked at the surroundings and didn’t like it much. It didn’t felt secure to leave a single and especially a new women in unknown city to wonder around. He saw a sister figure in Yadavi and his brotherly insists to take her away from here.
Aarna also took the look of surroundings. She and Eshanth shared a knowing look with each other.
Aarna helped Yadavi to reach her room. After making her settled down they left. Eshanth made a call and kept a eye on Yadavi for her safety.
Both Eshanth and Aarna left the place.
Aarna: I think we should help her.
Eshanth: we will discuss it with father.
Aarna: Yes. Hukum will surely help only for me.
Eshanth: let’s see.
They both reached Aras mansion.
First they fresh up and had some rest later at night when whole Aras family was on dinning room expect the elder brother Avyukt Yashvir Aras, who is out of country for some business.
Umang Yashvir Aras – elder person in Aras family. His wife name is Spandana Umang Yashvir Aras. Avyukt, Eshanth and Adweta are his blood. He is proud father of three. He is dominating and possessive man. His behaviour and attitude is transferred to Avyukt. His elder son is same as him no more than him.
Umang saw the signs made by Aarna and Eshanth. He laughed mentally at them. He is well aware of his youngest son’s possessive on Aarna. But didn’t interfere as they are still young. He was happy with his son’s choice. He loves Aarna as his own child. He never differentiated between her and his children.
When everyone finished their food. Umang stood up from his seat and his rough and cold voice hit everyone’s ear.
Umang: Aarna and Eshanth meet me in my study.
Everyone stared at the duo who stood there. Spandana asked Eshanth what’s the matter.
Eshanth: Maa dad will tell you later. Now let us meet him.
Eshanth reached the study first. Aarna took time as she needed to clean the table and bring the regular coffee for her ‘bade pa’.
Aarna reached to study and enter by knocking the door. She gave the coffee to Umang and stood near the table.
Umang: take your seat Aarna.
Aarna sat next to Eshanth on sofa.
Umang: so what was that on dinning table??
Though Umang looked as a tough man but he is smooth and nice from inside. Spandana is the one who bought that soft from him. Aarna is more free to talk about anything with Umang. But Eshanth is worried about his father’s other face.
Aarna: bade pa today while coming back from college we met in accident.
Aarna waited to see his reaction but didn’t got anything other than a tough face with blank face
Eshanth: it was my mistake. I hit a girl who was crossing the road. We took her took hospital and took care of her. Later we dropped her to her hotel.
Umang: so what I must do for that now??
Eshanth pocked his fingers to Aarna as if sending a message to talk further.
Aarna: so bade pa. Her name is Yadavi. She is from Mangala village. She is here for studying and to work.
Aarna took a few seconds of break to see the reaction of opposite man and calculate her words.
Aarna: so I wanted to ask can you help her.
Umang: in what??
Aarna : in getting her settled.
Eshanth: Yes dad. I don’t like her staying in that cheap hotel. I am worried about her security in unknown city with unfamiliar faces. Anybody can use her she is really innocent.
Umang laughed at his son’s words. He got confused by seeing his protectiveness on unknown girl.
Umang: is it your care for her or something else.
Eshanth: dad. For god sake she is married. I think her as my sister nothing else.
Umang: what??
Eshanth: Yes dad she is married and her husband works in army. And she is here in search of college and part time job.
Aarna: Yes bade pa. Please do help her.
Umang: bring her documents let’s see.
Aarna: okay tomorrow we will contact her.
Said looking at Eshanth. Aarna was happy that Yadavi will get any help from bade pa.
Eshanth: yes.
He looked at her eyes which was shining with this small thing. That is what pulled him towards her. He smiled at her.
Both of them bid good night to Umang. Poor souls don’t know what they are bring for another lost soul.
Chapter – 5
Yadavi POV.
I prayed to God for saving me from accident and taking care of me. I don’t know what happened to me. I was just lost in my thoughts that I didn’t have any sense and blindly went to cross the road. Eshanth and Aarna were both good people. They helped me if someone was there they would have left me alone to die.
I took rest for whole day after they left me in my hotel room. Tomorrow I will go to college and try to contact some staff who can help me by understanding my situation.
I just hope there is any ray of help for me in this unknown city with unfamiliar people.
I wrote a letter to Amandeep. I wrote all I did when I came to city. I asked enquired about him. I told him that I will mention my permanent address in next letter. I wrote the address which he gave me at last time of his departure. This is the only that we both can be in contact. He can’t use any device there so he gave me the address of post office. He will get my letter and read it.
Before closing my eyes to long sleep. I remember to post the letter first and did a small prayer.
Next day.
I woke up late as I felt light fever. My body was warm . I fresh up and changed I into something warm. I took my documents and some food with water bottle for my safety. We can’t say or predict anything for ourselves. So being caution important. I went to bus stop so that I will be reached soon and can save money as much as possible. On the way I dropped the letter to post office.I went to the same government college to talk with any staff and seek some help.
But no one helped me. I waited for long either they will be busy nor it will there lunch time. I was tired of waiting for them. I don’t think I can get any help.
It was four when I left the college without seeking any help. I think only option left is to search for the job and later join college.
On the way I saw Aarna and Eshanth. It looks like Both are waiting for someone.
Aarna was the first one to notice me. She smiled and waved her hand at me. I only smiled at her. She came to me and pulled me towards Eshanth.
Aarna: Hi Yadavi. Where were you?? We went to your hotel. But you were not there. The receptionist informed that you went out. After thinking lot we thought you may be here for admission. Did you got seat is everything cleared now. Tell me……
Eshanth: if you let her speak then only she can.
Yadavi: Nothing happened tomorrow I must come again to try my luck.
Eshanth: what about your work??
Yadavi: I must go now to search. I hope I get any one at least.
I made a small prayer to God closing my eyes and joining my hands.
Yadavi: okay. I must go now.
Aarna: wait…wait…. Where are you going so early. We want to discuss something come let us go to café nearby.
Yadavi: but…..
I was hesitating to go with them. I don’t know anything about them though they know more than me. I think Eshanth sensed my discomfort.
Eshanth: we won’t do anything to you come on. You think it as my treat for our friendship.
He assured me. But Aarna pulled me no dragged me towards there car. Today I saw a different car. It was different from previous one. Eshanth started driving and Aarna was blabbering something I forgot to listen because I was dazed with car.
Aarna bought me to earth by clicking her hands in front of my face.
Aarna: what are you thinking??
Yadavi: nothing. Just looking.
Aarna: well you see. The great Eshanth Aras as a vast collection of cars so he choose a car according to dress colour every.
I sucked a huge breath thinking about his richness.
Eshanth: well it’s not mine. But my brother’s. I just take anyone randomly.
Soon we made up to the café. We took a seat. I was looking at them in puzzles. Why they bought me here?? What they want to talk to me?? These questions were eating my brain literally. But my thoughts broke down when a waitress came for our order.
They both gave there order and looked at me.
Aarna: what do you want??
Yadavi: I don’t drink coffee or tea.
They looked at me like alien. How can I say them that getting food was only huge for me forget about this coffee and tea. I never tasted one.
Eshanth: okay. You try this one with us.
Yadavi: I don’t know which to select. You only order for me.
Aarna: I will teach you to make coffee.
Yadavi: no. I know how to make it. But didn’t tasted it.
They both looked at me and shook their heads.
Our order came soon.
I took the first sip. My taste buds filled with delight taste of coffee and light taste of coffee added with sugar and cream. Aarna raised her eyebrows asking me how is coffee. I smiled at her saying nice.
Eshanth: Yadavi I can help with tis college and work for you.
Yadavi: but…how?? I mean how can you help me? Why will you help a stranger??
Aarna: He can help you because he is son of Umang Yashvir Aras. So literally Bade pa can help you with this.
Yadavi: but why?? I can’t understand I don’t know who are you. And you guys don’t know me. So why are you helping me. In this country nobody wants to help anyone, even if they want there will be something hidden motive behind it. And I don’t want to fall for any trap like a fool.
Eshanth: I can understand you. I know you can’t trust us. Not even you but whoever is in your place will feel the same. But you need to believe me. It will be better decision in your life.
