"I'm sick of all the insincere,
I'm gonna give all my secrets away..."
~OneRepublic
Kaden's POV
I paced around my room and a growl rumbled from me. Whom was growling I'm not sure.
That's the past focus on Amelia! Knight snarled at me and part of me broke for a moment.
You knew what she meant to me damnit! I can't just forget about her. I groaned inside. Knight snarled at the thought. I had tried to put her in the back of my mind, tried to erase her, but she was still there.
You need to forget about her! Rain is my mate now! We mated with her! She's ours, now deal with it! Knight badgered.
We aren't mated fully. I thought back which was true; we hadn't marked each other again. Knight growled in response. I nodded and ran a hand down my face. My hands shook softly.
I wanted to remember her. I wanted to remember her soft red hair, those striking green eyes, the thrill of her--
Stop it! You do not think of Emma! He howled and for a moment everything stopped. Neither him nor I had mentioned that name since the day of her burial...
My Emma... I felt tears pricking my eyes and I wiped them away.
Emma had been the one to save me. Even if we weren't official mates... she was my first love; and I lost her. She'd been killed by rouges when we were sixteen.
I'd already felt the connection beforehand. I'm not so sure if she could too, but I knew that she'd felt something.
I hated rouges from then on and when Amelia was attacked that day, it brought the memory of that horrible day to surface. The day I'd tried so hard to forget...
My bare feet crunched against the soft grass as I walked outside.
"Kadey! Kadey!" A familiar voice yelled happily and before I knew it I was being tackled to the ground by a red haired angel.
I hit the ground hard and instantly rolled over pinning her underneath me.
"Pinned ya." I said with a smirk and the girl looked up at me with a frown and a playful glint in her electric green eyes.
"Making 'Lion King' references huh?" She said and I smiled as she saw through it. I shrugged and sat up and she did the same.
A chuckle rumbled from me as she stood and yelled, "Hakuna Matata!" She threw up her hands and the wind caught her hair and I stopped laughing and watched her in awe.
She was beautiful.
I smiled softly at knowing this was who would be my mate. She just didn't feel the connection yet...
"Stop." I groaned shaking off the memories.
She'd died that day and it was my fault... I should've stayed by her, but I left to check the border and when I returned... rouges had got her.
'Kaden.' Her pained voice echoed in my head and I shuddered pushing it away.
I ran a hand through my hair and sighed.
Amelia and Rain are ours! Emma and Fawn were weak! They're gone Kaden! Gone! Stop thinking of them! Amelia is our future, they are the past! Knight snarled and paced inside of me. A dull amount of pain was in the wolf's heart, but it didn't compare to the pain he felt at not being with his true mate, his Rain. He wanted Amelia and her wolf, wanted me to forget, but I couldn't.
You used our mate... if you were having doubts you should've said something, yet you told her you wanted her and bedded her... You used the bond for your own gain-- Knight barked and snapped his fangs, rage surging through him.
Emma was my everything! I retorted and Knight let out an angry howl.
Emma was your nothing! He barked. His teeth bared in frustration.
She was nothing compared to Amelia. Emma was weak and a fool compared to her. AMELIA is MY ONLY LOVE. The only one I want, yet you deprive me of my wants! She's coming soon, back home like you wanted; what will you do when she gets here? Ignore her? Fight your wants, my needs? He spat and spittle flew from his jaws. His eyes were crazed with rage.
I remained silent and stared out of the window.
They always say the wolf is the monster, but I see otherwise. Knight growled before blocking me and trotting away into my mind.
"They always watch, but are never seen."
Amelia's POV
I walked out toward my car and paused as I saw a piece of paper against my windshield being held down by the wipers.
I gripped the paper in my fingers and noticed it was a note.
WE'LL BE WATCHING YOU LUNA.
I stared at the note in confusion and looked around, but of course no one was in sight.
Rain growled and paced around baring her teeth in response to the note.
I tried to calm her but she snarled. I frowned and climbed into my car.
Something's not right. Rain growled and sniffed the air.
I held her inside and sighed.
It's okay. I said and she grew silent before padding back into the deep part of my mind and disappearing from my grasp.
I let out a breath and sucked on my teeth before starting the engine.
My eyes landed on my motorcycle sitting patiently beside my car and I backed out before driving off.
"C'mon babe, just because you put in your two week notice doesn't mean you can slack off." Noah's teasing voice said and I shot him a scowl.
The day had gone by fast and we were picking the bar up.
"I haven't been slacking." I retorted and he offered me a smirk as he tended to putting the bottles of beverages in their places.
"I'm only teasing." He said putting his hands up in surrender and I scoffed.
"Ever since you got the dick you've been acting different." Noah grumbled and I whirled around to face him.
"Don't bring that into the conversation." I said and he raised his eyebrows. He could tell I'd mated with Kaden as soon as he saw me again.
"It's true." He said with a shrug and I rolled my eyes.
"But seriously Amelia... if you ever need me just call or whatever. I know you have Kaden, but if you ever need me, I'll be there." Noah said meeting my eyes and I smiled softly.
"Thanks Noah." I said and he smiled and pulled me into a hug.
"Welcome Lia." He said and rubbed my back.
I pulled away from him and nodded before helping him clean up...
"I missed you." Nancy said as she hugged my leg and I smiled.
I'd been home for a few days and everyone seemed happy with my return.
Though I hadn't seen much of Kaden.
I made my way to our room and sat on the bed with a huff. Kaden's scent flooded around me and I sighed as I laid back against the sheets.
Rain sighed in peacefulness and I hummed in content.
I stood after a while and went to the closet to get a change of clothes. My hands brushed against the clothes still up, that I'd left here on accident, as well as the ones I'd added once again. My fingers brushed against the soft fabric of a shirt I'd left and I paused as I pulled it from its rack.
Rain sniffed the shirt and her fur lifted as I growled softly. The dank scent of another female tainted my nostrils and my nose wrinkled up in disgust and anger.
Amy.
My hands gripped the shirt and I glared at the fabric.
Quickly Rain took over and made waste of the clothing item. Cloth ripped with a satisfying tearing sound and the fabric tore easily. The scent of Felen hung in the air like death and Rain aggressively obliterated the shirt.
I finally managed to gain control back and shifted. I sighed and put on some clothes. Inside me Rain gave a triumphant howl, but she was still on edge and annoyed.
I sat on the edge of the bed taking deep calming breaths. My hands ran through my hair and my eyes glared at the scattered pieces that had once been a lovely grey shirt.
I looked at the torn clothing in hatred. That bitch had worn my shirt. Touched my mate. I should've killed her when I had the chance.
A knocking at the door made me get up and the whore's scent lingered faintly in my nostrils. I opened the door with a huff and Rain paced in annoyance.
I looked at Kaden and frowned. He looked at me and gave a warm smile.
"Hey baby." He said and I felt part of me calm down.
