"What do you know of pain?"
Amelia's POV
I groaned softly as I ran into a table corner. I bit back curses and rubbed my aching hip.
"Fuck you too table." I growled then mentally scolded myself for snapping at an inanimate object.
I sighed and ran a hand through my hair. My heart was constantly aching, but I didn't know if was my own pain or Kaden's because of Emma. Goddess I hated this.
My breath blew out in another rush as I slunk toward the workout room. My boxing gloves swung from my right hand and I picked up my pace trying to hurry and get there.
My left hand clasped over the cold knob and I entered and shut the door. I didn't hesitate in slipping on my gloves and walking over to the sandbag.
"Hey Luna." I looked over to see a young boy, probably sixteen, running on a treadmill. His dark reddish brown hair was sopped a little with sweat and part of me wondered how long he'd been running.
"Hey..." I trailed off not knowing his name.
"Eligha." The boy finished and I nodded.
"So Luna... not meaning to pry or anything, but how old are you?" The boy said and I frowned a bit before answering.
"Twenty." I said and the boy nodded and continued his run.
"Just wondering, someone said nineteen another said twenty so..." he said and I nodded softly and began punching at the bag.
"So you've known Alpha for...?" He said and I looked over at him.
"Over two years." I growled and punched the bag.
"And you're not fully mated yet?" The boy said in astonishment nearly tripping in his run and I swallowed another growl.
"Yeah." I managed to get out and punched the bag again.
"Does it hurt? Not being with him?" The boy asked softly and I felt my throat tightening a bit.
My hands started shaking and I did my best to push down my emotions.
After a moment the sound of Eligha running stopped and soon he was standing beside me.
"I'm sorry Luna... I didn't mean to make you cry." He said with guilt lacing his voice and I reached up to find tears sliding down my cheeks.
"Do you need Alpha? I could go get him." Eligha said and started to walk towards the door, but my growl stopped him.
"No, I don't want him here. It won't matter to him." I growled.
"But you're his ma-"
"It doesn't matter." I spat and the boy flinched. I sighed and wiped my eyes.
"I'm sorry for snapping. And yes, it does hurt." I said softly and laid a hand on his shoulder before turning back to the punch bag.
"I... I'm sorry about all this Luna. Uh, an Alpha should protect and care for his mate." Eligha said sounding kind of nervous. I looked up and saw him looking to the side of me with slightly fearful and challenging eyes. A chill ran down my spine at a familiar growl and I tensed.
"Are you trying to be smart pup?" Kaden's deep voice said and I felt my stomach churning.
"N-no Alpha." Eligha blurted and his eyes fled to the ground.
"Leave him be Kaden." I said and the air grew tense.
"What are you doing in here?" My mate's voice asked in a condescending tone. My nose wrinkled in distaste.
"Just letting off steam, why?" I hissed still with my back to him.
"We'll discuss this in private, move along pup." Kaden growled and my stomach churned. Eligha shot me a look before hurrying out and the shutting of the door made my heart drum.
"So you're just going to sulk in here?" Kaden's voice had Rain growling angrily.
"I'm not sulking. Now leave." I growled and was met with rough hands on my waist. Kaden whirled me around and before I could break free of his hold I was pressed against a wall.
His eyes stared into mine and they glowed with a sense of anger and offense.
"Leave? Who are you to tell me to do anything?" Kaden growled before chuckling darkly. His thumb traced my jaw and a glint flickered in his eyes. Abruptly he stopped laughing and gave me a look that made my body tense up with nerves.
"Have you forgotten, I'm Alpha?" Kaden growled in a voice that scent coldness rushing through my veins.
Normally I may've not said anything. But I was so annoyed and hurt and confused.
"Have you forgotten, I'm Luna?" I hissed back and met his gaze challengingly. His eyes studied me before settling on my lips and after a moment he blinked. His eyes were switching between his gold and the wolf's; it was obvious he was fighting with Knight inside.
Suddenly his eyes darkened and with a inhuman grunt he leaned forward. My body instantly relaxed as his lips slammed on mine and his hands gripped my hips as he pressed himself against me.
"Mine." Kaden growled lazily and kissed me harder.
I didn't know what to think. So I just stood there like an idiot.
His hands slid along my sides before he grabbed my face and deepened this kiss. I frowned softly, not wanting to kiss him back and very much confused by his sudden affection.
I gasped as he pulled away and took in a breath of air as he kissed my mark and pleasure took hold of me.
"Kaden--?" I breathed and was met with a deep growl.
"I'm not Kaden." the growling voice said and it suddenly made sense.
Knight had taken over.
I couldn't help the feeling of disappointment seeping through me and ruining my mood. I sighed and Kaden-Knight whimpered before kissing my neck and mark again.
"I'm sorry Amelia. I wish he'd see it. You're ours. Kaden's just..." Knight trailed off and kissed my lips.
"A dumbass?" I finished as he pulled away. He smirked softly and nodded before kissing me again and this time I kissed him back with a fierce passion.
Soon he picked me up and I smiled as he kissed beside my ear, "He's gonna get back in control soon... I wish I could stay here with you, but I can't. Goddess I love you." He put me down and gave me one last kiss before backing away.
I tried to stay calm and collected but as he took control of himself once more and I saw the disbelief and annoyance in his eyes, I couldn't force away the mound of overwhelming sorrow looming above me, and boy did it come crashing down.
"What the hell--?" Kaden growled and ran a hand through his hair.
I looked at the ground and shook my head softly while biting my bottom lip. Tears burned in my eyes and I felt my lips quiver as I tried not to cry. I swallowed back my tears and cleared my throat. I wasn't going to cry this time.
"I'll be outside." I croaked and with my head still down I left the room and blindly stumbled down the hallways as Rain howled in longing and anger for me, she wanted revenge for my pain.
She wanted to kill Kaden.
I made it outside before hobbling to the tree line and once out of sight I collapsed by a great oak and a wave of turmoil crashed over me. With a huff I tore off my boxing gloves and shoved them aside.
A flurry of curses slipped from my mouth as I picked at the bark of the oak tree.
Vzzzzz Vzzzzz. I pulled my phone from my pocket and glanced at the caller. With a shaking sigh I answered the phone and brought it up to my ear.
"Amelia?" Noah's voice was a little rugged and I could hear the sounds of the bar in the background. He was obviously at work.
"What is it Noah?" I said softly and for a moment he was quiet.
"Where are you?" He asked finally and I glanced up at the sky peeking through the cover of leaves.
"Why?" I sighed. I could hear the background noises fading until they stopped.
"You're crying. Just tell me where you are and I'm on my way. I'm already on my bike." Noah said and I felt a stutter in my heart.
"Okay..." I told him the address.
"That's good. We'll talk about it more when I get there okay? Where exactly are you?" Noah's voice flowed through the phone and I huffed.
"I'm by this big oak tree. You can't miss it." I said softly.
"I'll be there in a few minutes." Noah said and with that the conversation had ended.
