I snarled in rage and suddenly as if the reason had been thrown into the light, the fighting stopped.
"Amelia, what are you doing out here?" A bloody Kaden came stalking over to me. His golden eyes held fury, but as he came to stand beside me he gripped my arms lightly and whispered, "You're not hurt are you?" I shook my head and he sighed.
He let me go and I took in everything.
I looked around me and growled in confused frustration. My pack still fought against the rogues, but the strangers only eyed me. Then another woman caught my eye. She smiled at me and I grimaced.
"Surround the pack!" My mother ordered and the rogues advanced. Pack members were shoved back and blocked as the other rogues turned to Kaden and I. Soon they had the whole pack barricaded off from both of us. There were too many of them... it was over.
My mother stepped forward and looked me over from head to toe. Blood marred her body, but she stood tall and confident with a sinister smirk playing on her lips.
"Amelia." She said in a happy-to-see-you way and I wrinkled my nose in disgust.
"What do you want? Why are you doing this?" I asked harshly and she smiled still.
"I can't visit my own daughter?" My mother quipped and I glared at her.
"You attacked my pack again. Don't act like this is just some family reunion." I snapped and she chuckled softly her eyes sparkling.
"I know, I know, sorry dear, but I said things would come about if you disobeyed me. I just wanted you to come with me, we could be a family." My mother said and I growled loudly.
"We will never be a family." I dismissed the claim quickly. The Commander bared her fangs and stepped toward me.
"Stay away from my mate." Kaden growled stepping in front of me. My mother instantly snarled at him and the two stared each other down.
"I told you to stay inside." Kaden growled softly and I frowned.
"I'm not going to sit in a room while my pack needs help." I replied and my mate huffed.
"You don't have a choice in this boy, either stay out of it and let us take her, or face the consequences." My mother spat and I frowned.
"I'm not going with you." I shot back and she looked at me with cool, level eyes.
"How about we change my daughter's mind boys?" My mother said in a sly voice and abruptly she snapped her finger and rogues, big male rogues, were lunging at Kaden. I growled as they knocked him off his feet and he fell. I began to go to his aid when a hand clamped down on my arm and wrenched me back.
I glared at my mother and turned my head back in time to see Kaden beginning to shift, but as he did so a rogue plunged a syringe into his arm. Suddenly he wasn't shifting anymore and confusion and pain came to his eyes.
"What did you do?" I gasped at my mother and she smirked.
"Something we made, it hinders the shifting process, hurts like hell too. Thought it would come in handy, an Alpha is enough work as a human, can't have him going wolf on us, now can we?" My mother said and smiled wider. I looked back to Kaden and the rogues had him pinned down. His eyes were locked on me and I growled at the men literally stomping on him.
I gasped as they kicked him and with a snarl Kaden stood, but was soon was hit with a bat, a metal bat, on the back of the head and he fell forward. The pack burst into outcry, struggling at the blockade of strangers that had formed, but no one could break past the horde of rogues. The Alpha caught himself as he fell, but it was obvious he was dazed and I could feel his pain through the bond. Tears streamed from my eyes. They began to lift the bat again and Rain howled inside of me.
"I'll go." I cried and Kaden growled and was hit again, this time in the back, he fell to the ground with a thud and the rogues quickly stopped him from getting back up.
"Amelia no. Don't leave." Kaden croaked as the wolves held him down. He began to miraculously stand up again.
I looked at him, my heart breaking into a million pieces.
The rouges suddenly kicked his leg and a sickening crack was heard as he toppled to the ground. He let out a yell of pain, but still tried to stand.
"Don't. Please." I cried and one reared back his foot and kicked my mate's head. Kaden groaned and my heart wrenched. My breath hitched and I scrambled toward him, but hands held me back and tears flooded from my eyes. My mate growled painfully as he positioned his hands and knees to stand.
"Stay down Kaden." I pleaded, but he attempted to stand anyway. I could feel his determination seeping through the bond. He was instantly shoved down and his injured leg stepped on.
"Stop it!" I cried as he groaned and yelped in pain. The rouges paused in their assault. I turned to my mother tears streaming down my face.
"Please stop this." I whimpered and she gave an evil smirk.
"Come with us and we will." She said and I looked at my tortured mate.
"Amelia no..." he growled softly and a rogue kicked his stomach making him wheeze and fold in on himself. My breath caught as he spit up some blood. I gasped as he was kicked again, this time in the chest. More blood made an appearance.
Oh Goddess.
"Stop! I'll go, I already said I'd go! Just don't hurt him." I said fighting past the sobs and Kaden groaned and tried to stand again. He failed and sunk back to the ground with a hiss of pain.
"Amelia--" he growled and I cut him off.
"They'll kill you, if I don't. I'm sorry Kaden." I said as someone new grabbed my arm and began leading me away. I growled and whimpered.
My wolf snapped and snarled at the action of someone touching me and I held her at bay, in fear they may take my defiance out on Kaden. I glanced back at my struggling to stand mate before a cloth was thrown over my head and I was swallowed by darkness.
"This won't hurt a bit." My mother's voice said softly and I felt a prick in my arm before everything truly faded away.
"I'd hate to be the one to come between two destined lovers, especially if one is thirsty for a fight."
Kaden's POV
"I'm fine." I snapped as another doctor came in and my jaw ticked in frustration. I should be out looking for Amelia not cooped up in some damn hospital room. I'd been out for a week; a whole damned week and no news of my mate.
I growled as the woman came closer to me with another pill.
"Pelelope, I said I'm fine." I huffed and the doctor gave me a raised eyebrow. She pursed her lips before saying firmly, "You have to take this Alpha."
"Bullsh-" I started and she shoved the pill in my mouth. I nearly choked and swallowed the damn thing to keep from doing so.
"There, now here." Doctor Pelelope said giving me a glass of water and I growled before drinking it.
"Don't pout, you needed it, you want to heal faster don't you?" She catechized and I scowled.
"I need to be looking for my mate." I huffed and the doctor looked at me with sympathy.
"I'm so sorry Alpha. We'll get Luna Amelia back." she said softly and I looked away from her. She laid her hand against my shoulder and I glared at it.
"Don't touch me." I said roughly and the woman quickly took away her hand.
"You're free to go in about an hour." She said tapping at a clock on the wall before leaving the room.
I sat in the room bored out of my mind for some time before I swear I heard my name. I looked towards the door in wonderment, but I knew I was hearing it.
"What the hell is wrong with you?!" I frowned as Noah came barging into the hospital room. So I wasn't losing it, good to know. His eyes were bright with fury and they pinned themselves on me.
Honestly I was shocked to see him.
"Where's Amelia?!" He snarled and the door slammed shut behind him.
"Calm down." I growled.
"Is it true? Rogues took her? What kind of an Alpha are you?! I knew I should've just kept her with me where she was safe! If something happens to her I swear I'll-" Noah yelled and I watched as the door swung open again. Ryan stood there eyeing Noah.
"You all right in here?" my Beta asked and I nodded. Noah growled and bared his fangs at me.
"We're fine." The lone wolf growled, but his eyes still glowed with fury.
"Okay then." Ryan said and after giving me a look left the room.
Is it wrong I kind of wanted to stick around and see him freak out more? Ryan mild-linked me and I chuckled inwardly before cutting off the link.
Noah stood there looking mad as ever and finally he growled, "You're together again, right?" I gave a nod and tilted my head as he scowled and looked away. For a long while the wolf was quiet and he did nothing, but look at the ground. I frowned slightly and glanced at my hand which had suddenly started hurting, but the cramp was fading fast.
"She just took you back... after everything you've done?" Noah growled.
"She's my mate." I said and the loner sighed.
"Ah yes, mates." He huffed.
"Poor, poor Kaden." He said suddenly in a smiling voice and I glanced to see the man smirking at me.
