"I'm gonna miss you Katy." Dalton said and I smiled quickly. I punched him lightly in his shoulder and smirked, "Hey you'll come visit. I'll send y'all the address or whatever. This isn't goodbye." I said as I pulled away.
Outside I heard a honk and everyone glanced at each other before going to the door. I opened the door and saw a brown haired model like girl talking to Clayton. As I watched she squealed and threw herself at him wrapping him in a hug and then started jumping up and down while yelling happily.
"Lexi stop fucking screaming!" Clayton ordered placing his hands over his ears. She stopped and he lowered his hands with a glare at her. So that's Lexi.
Clayton sighed and looked at her with a soft smile, "I swear you act like a child." He stated with a shake of his head. The girl beamed at him.
"But you love me anyways." She said with a flip of her hair and Clayton's smile widened a little and he chuckled.
"Yeah, I do." My mate sighed and the girl jumped up and down with a giggle. Clayton chuckled and rolled his eyes. Hurt ran through me and I looked at my hands.
Dalton rested his hand on my shoulder and said something I didn't catch over the pounding of my heartbeat in my ears.
He loves her... Then what the hell does he want me for? I thought and retreated back inside. Someone was calling my name but I ignored it and walked into the kitchen and out through the back door. I started walking faster toward the woods and then I was running. I pelted through the trees and undergrowth until I made it to that stream Alpha and I had stopped at. I grunted and crossed it getting a little wet in the process but when I was over it I ran again.
I ran and ran and finally stopped at a grassy meadow. The grass was tall and I collapsed on the ground and it covered me well. Only then did I realize I was crying. Hot tears ran down my face and I hated it. I shouldn't be crying, not over him... But I was.
"I can't do this." I cried and buried my face in my hands.
"Stupid mate feelings." I groaned wiping my eyes. They had to be responsible for this. Heaven knows I wouldn't be crying any other day. My heart felt like it was breaking and it didn't make any sense. I didn't even really like Clayton... I don't think.
"Katlyn! Kate?!" I heard a voice in the distance and I tensed. No, I don't want him to find me.
I balled myself up and quieted my breathing. I felt my heart ache again and I stifled a cry.
"Kate? Answer me! Where are you?!" Clayton's voice shouted sounding closer. I gulped and sobs escaped me.
"Kate?" His voice said again sounding concerned and alert. I could hear the swishing of the grass and I whimpered. I closed my eyes and jumped as something came up beside me.
"Kate." Clayton's voice said and I closed my eyes tighter. A growl sounded and I groaned as I felt hands grabbing me and lifting me to my feet. I opened my eyes slowly and saw Clayton, who finally had some clothes on-gray t shirt and jeans, looking down at me with fiery eyes. I flinched at the look at stared at the ground.
"Why'd you run off?" He growled and grabbed my wrists. I glared at his hands.
"You said you loved her." I spat out and Clayton groaned.
"That's what this is about? You were eves dropping? Yes I love her but you've got the wrong idea." My mate chuckled and I tried to pull away from him but only managed to get one arm free.
"This isn't funny Clayton!" I yelled and he laughed.
"Yes. It. Is." He said between chuckles.
"How?" I spat.
"Lexi is my little sister. I love her in a brother way. See? You got your feelings hurt for no damn reason." Clayton said and I scoffed. I couldn't help feeling better though.
"Well by the way you act it's not hard to think otherwise." I said gruffly and Clayton pulled me to his chest.
"Is that what you think of me? You're my mate. I wouldn't do that to you... No matter what you think." My mate growled and kissed my head. Butterflies erupted inside of me and I snuggled closer to him. I felt his heartbeat pick up. Clayton cleared his throat and let me go.
"Come on." He growled and walked away. I sighed and followed him.
"There you are." Lexi said as we walked to the car. I looked back at my parents and Dalton and they waved softly. I sighed and got in the back of the car. Clayton objected to that but I ignored him. My mate growled and got in the drivers seat and I was surprised when Lexi got in the back with me. Everyone was quiet until we got on the road.
"Hey Luna Katlyn, I'm Lexi." Clayton's sister said with a smile and I returned one.
"Nice to meet you Lexi." I said softly and she grinned.
"Umm Lexi, why'd you say Luna before my name?" I asked quietly and she smiled.
"That's your title. You're the alpha's mate so you are a Luna. Luna Katlyn." She said then started humming. She chucked and started singing.
"My brother has a mate. My brother has a mate. The Big Bad Alpha has a mate." Lexi sang and I chuckled at Clayton's annoyed sigh.
"Please Lexi, enough." He groaned and Lexi giggled and nudged me.
"He's a cheerful one." Lexi said sarcastically in my ear and shook her head. I smirked and looked out the window.
