I don't think I've ever run so fast in my life. Adrenaline pumped through me as I pelted up the stairs. I'd just reached the top when a hand wrapped around me wrist and pulled me to a violent stop. And by violent I mean I'm pretty sure my wrist nearly broke. I yelped as a hand clamped over my mouth and I was pulled back against a hard chest. I was freaking out and honestly if I wasn't empty I'd probably have peed myself yet at the same time warm sparks were coursing through my veins.
I tried to get out of the stranger's grasp but whoever this guy was he was strong. My struggling wasn't don't much if anything. His hand was still over my mouth and I bit down on his skin. He grunted and let me go and I quickly elbowed him in the stomach, hitting hard muscle, and ran into my room. I attempted to shut the door but the guy caught it with his foot and I whined in fear.
"Who the hell are you. G-get out of my house." I said trying to sound stern but my voice shook. Alpha. I gasped at the thought.
"What did you do with my dog?" I spat at him suddenly growing angry. If he harmed him I swear to God I was going to find a way to make him pay.
"Oh Katlyn... I've done nothing to him." The guy said from where he was still behind my door. Why did his voice sound familiar?
"How do you know my name? And bullshit he wouldn't leave me. He'd be right here beside me. Protecting me." I said and my heart twisted at the thought he might be hurt.
"But I am here. There's nothing to protect you from." The weirdo said in a gruff voice and I froze. Oh great, I've got a lunatic in my house just dandy. I stepped away from the door and grabbed the closest thing to me-a metal bucket I use to put pens in. I was going to grab the lamp but the bucket is easier to throw. I could only imagine myself trying to throw the lamp.
"Just leave. Or I'm calling the police." I said hoping to scare him off but he only laughed.
"I'm not scared of the police-the police are scared of me. I'm not going anywhere to be frank-I live here with you." The man said and I let out a shaky breath. Why did I feel like I've heard his voice? Chills ran up my spine.
"Take whatever you want but just leave." I said tightening my grip on the metal bucket and the guy growled. I felt my blood grow cold.
"If you want me to take whatever I want I can... But you wouldn't like what I do. I only want you. So maybe you can imagine in that beautiful little head of yours what would be going down in that bedroom of yours." The guy grunted with a slight chuckle and I fought the urge to cry. He's thinking about... Hell no.
"Get your sick ass out of my house." I spat but backed away from the door.
"Oh Katlyn I don't have any interest in leaving you here. Now can I come in?" The guy said in a slightly annoyed voice and I scoffed.
"I don't know you." I said as I got on the far side of my room. After a pause the door opened and in walked the stranger. My mouth dropped open at the sight of the gorgeous man in my room. His dark brown hair was ruffled and his body was that of a gods. My eyes ran over his perfectly sculpted muscles and stared briefly at his eight pack. I stared to look at where his body started making a v shape for his waist and they trained on his boxers. I snapped my eyes back up to his face. He looked around the room and his eyes landed on me and I gasped.
"I don't understand." I sighed in disbelief as I stared at his eyes. Alpha's eyes. They were the same striking gold with a slight flicker of red.
"Don't you recognize me?" He said in a gruff voice that sounded like it wasn't used much. I took a step back. This isn't possible. My back presses against the wall as he steps toward me and I move away from it. Not the wall it's the mother of all clichés. Like 'the scary boy(him) presses the terrified girl(me) against the wall,' yeah right. So I moved by my bed and stood there rocking on my heels watching whoever this guy was.
"What is this Twilight?" I sighed shaking my head in disbelief, "Is this some joke?" The guy 'Alpha' tilted his head.
"Isn't that the movie you watched? With the dark haired girl who wouldn't shut her mouth?" The guy-Alpha-asked.
"Yes." I answered with a slight smirk at his comment on Kristen Stewart.
He shook his head and growled, "Don't compare me to that ever. What was the point of the movie? My kind were portrayed horribly. Hell I know damn well our packs wouldn't waste their time worrying about a few bloodsuckers. They don't even exist anymore. They were killed off centuries ago. And the fact that they sparkled in the sun-if that were true your kind would've killed them off long before they all died."
"My kind?" I inquired looking at him confused, "I thought vampires hated werewolves like y'all were at war or something, killing each other." Alpha scoffed and laughed bitterly.
"Of course that's what y'all think. Humans are so quick to point the finger at a different species. We fought some times but who doesn't? There was only one major war between us and it started because a werewolf killed an elder vampire. After that we were neutral with each other. We didn't fight anymore except for the occasional confrontation. But when your kind realized there were other beings... Well you didn't like it. Next thing we know all the vampires are being taken out-why?-because they were easy to identify." He paused and gave me an annoyed look that seemed to yell 'I'm better than you in every possible way! Why are you being stupid? Why am I even talking to you?' He huffed before running a hand through his coarse, dark hair.
"Their mouths held long fangs in which they could not retract. And their nails were always claw like. Plus you couldn't cut their nails without using a great amount of force and their blood was deep crimson almost black. The only way to kill them was to get them through the heart or some vital organ with an object dipped in wolfsbane..." He yawned softly. I couldn't help but wonder what his problem was because he looked really annoyed. I inwardly shrugged and listened to the story.
"Different from the common lore vampires were still living. Their hearts still drummed in their chests, their lungs still breathed air. They still had families they still lived, they still aged. Some didn't but they were rare. Just like werewolves. Luckily my kind could change into humans or stay in the woods as wolves to hide from humans persecution and execution." Alpha ended his little speech with a gruff shake of his head. I was shocked. Humans killed vampires off?
"Woah I can't believe this." I said and the guy-my wolf?- scoffed.
"It's not very hard to get. Katlyn my mate." He growled and sudden realization slapped me in the face. No way!
"C-Clayton?!" I gasped and the guy smirked.
"C-correct." He mocked me and I scowled as he took a deep breath and looked at me. I was starting to feel uncomfortable and it only got worse when I thought of everything I'd done around him as a wolf. My face burned and he chuckled.
"You're such a pervert!" I yelled and he blinked in shock. Then he frowned.
"What are you talking about?" He said taking a step closer but I held my ground and glared at him.
"You sat in the bathroom and watched me shower! You were licking all on me-you tried to lick me in my mouth!" I said disgusted and Clayton smirked.
"Of course, you're my mate. Even though I personally didn't really want a mate. But now that I've got one I have to deal with it." Clayton stated. He made it sound like it was a bad thing.
"Well if you don't want to be my mate I'm fine with that. Frankly you seem like you might have some issues so..." I grabbed my phone and started to call Dalton. I wanted out of this house.
"Who are you calling?" Clayton growled and I looked at him debating on whether or not I should tell.
"Who?!" He suddenly shouted and I jumped and looked away from him as I muttered, "Dalton." He was not happy with my answer.
"Dalton? That damn boy? Don't fucking get him over here or I'll show him what happens when anyone touches what's mine... Better yet let him come! I have a good mind to beat him for kissing you." Clayton snarled pacing around the room. Yep he was Alpha alright.
"Come on there's no need for that." I said softly putting my phone down. Clayton stopped pacing and looked at me with his piercing eyes. His chest heaved slightly from his little and abrupt episode.
"He made you cry Katy. You were fucking crying for hours! You cried in your sleep! You were so broken! And he did that to you!" Clayton growled his voice sharp with anger. I flinched away. Seems like this episode wasn't over.
"But you changed that Clayton you made me feel better. You were my lovable little wolf." I said trying to make him calm down. He shook his head furiously.
"Me and my wolf are two different things. He fondles over you because of the mate bond. His love for you makes him blind. I'm not him. I can see when I need to get in the middle of something and I need to right now." Clayton growled and marched over to me. I gulped and stared up at him he growled and gripped my shoulders and pulled me to him. My body was crushed against his and sparks took over me.
"You're mine." He growled and hugged me tight and laid his chin on my head. You think it wouldn't do much but sparks were erupting inside of me and I was frozen. It felt so strangely addicting.
"He's lucky I didn't tear him apart." Clayton growled about Dalton and I winced at his words.
"Oh... Why'd you bite him?" I asked and a growl rumbled in Clayton's lungs.
"He was kissing you." He huffed and hugged me tighter against his chest. I nodded slowly.
"So is he a werewolf now?"
"No I bit him I didn't turn him." Clayton growled.
"Why'd you bite him though?" I asked.
"Why does it matter? Why the hell are you asking so many damn questions?... He was on you so I got him off. Luckily for him he didn't go any further than that or I'd've killed him." He said in a dark low voice and I shivered.
"Well you're not creepy." I said sarcastically. Clayton looked at me with narrowed eyes and he smirked revealing white teeth.
"Oh Kate if only you knew." He said and suddenly he was sniffing my hair. Awkward.
"Umm Alpha-Clayton." I started but stopped when he leaned in and pressed his face in my neck. I tensed all the way up but felt tingling still going through me and sparks in my stomach. I let out a shuddering breath and gulped. He chuckled darkly and nipped my neck.
"What the hell?" I said and Clayton looked up at me and frowned.
"What?" He said defensively.
"Your biting me. That's weird and really creepy." I said nervously and pushed him away. I took steps away from him creating distance between us.
"So, you're mine. You're my mate." He said curtly and in a matter of fact manner.
"Mate? Yours? Umm wrongo buddy boy. No one owns me- I'm my own person." I scoffed and Clayton growled. I gulped as he snarled, "You are mine! And you're coming with me!"
He took a step toward me and I bolted past him and ran down the stairs. I turned the corner to the living room and ran right into my mother whom was just coming in the door with my father behind her.
"Katlyn what in the world are you doing? Why are you running like someone's going to kill you?" My mother said as she came through the door. I've never been happier to see someone's face. I leapt into her arms and hugged her.
"I just missed y'all." I lied, well it wasn't an entire lie, I had missed them. How could I tell them that Alpha was actually a werewolf? They'd think I was insane. I sighed and I heard my father's voice say, "Sorry Katy. We didn't know we'd be gone that long... Why are you sweating so much? Are you sick?" I pulled away from my mother and my dad pressed his hand to my head.
"You're a little warm." He said and I shrugged. A bark suddenly sounded from upstairs and down came Alpha-the wolf-on the stairs. His tongue lolled out and he yipped like a puppy as he licked my parents hands.
What the hell?
I tried not to shrink away from him. That would only draw attention. I just wanted to go to bed.
"Well goodnight I'm going to sleep." I told my parents and they nodded. I gave them a soft smile and hurried up the stairs. Alpha followed and attempted to come in my room after me but I shut the door before he could. I heard his low growl on the other side and I scoffed.
"Go to sleep Clayton- you don't have to be in here." I said and Alpha growled louder and pawed at the door. I sighed and laid back in bed turning off the light. I didn't know what to think as I drifted to sleep.
