Here is the story of the original Trojan War:

Early Life & Divine Origins

Birth: Daughter of Zeus (disguised as a swan) and Leda, or Nemesis, making her divine, beautiful, and fated for greatness and trouble.

Kidnapped by Theseus: Even as a child, her beauty attracted unwanted attention; the Athenian hero Theseus abducted her, but her brothers, Castor and Pollux, rescued her and took Theseus' mother captive. 

Suitors & Marriage to Menelaus

The Suitors' Oath: Numerous Greek princes sought her hand. Her stepfather, Tyndareus, had all suitors swear an oath to defend her chosen husband.

Chosen Husband: Helen chose Menelaus, King of Sparta, becoming his queen and mother of Hermione. 

The Trojan War

Paris's Arrival: Paris, a Trojan prince, visited Sparta, and Aphrodite, promised Helen to him as the fairest, influenced Helen to go with him to Troy (either willingly or abducted).
