Chapter 17 (will start writing normally next chapter): Imprisoned(6)
Every morning was the same for Helenos.
A servant would come into Helenoss room and bring Helenos sweet tea.
Helenos would drink the tea without saying a word to the servant and move slowly and smoothly around his room.
It felt like Helenos was walking around in a dream that just went on and on, for Helenos.
The Queen told Helenos that Helenos was getting better now.
Helenos did not want to think about things that could happen to him.
Menelaia's words were nice to hear which is why he liked her words.
Helenos just wanted to feel okay. It was all Helenos wanted.
It truly did make Helenos feel fine just like Menelaia said it would.
***
One afternoon it was really quiet.
The big bronze doors made a loud noise as they slowly swung open. It smelled like grapes.
His love, Menelaia walked into the room with another person.
"This is Helenos, " Menelaia said with irritation. She had her fingers pressed hard into the skin on the back of Helenos' neck. "Are you saticfied?"
The woman did not stay by the door. She walked over to Heleno and leaned down really close to him.
She smelled like cedar wood and leather. She touched Helenoss face with her finger tracing the line of his jaw.
Helenos got a feeling. He looked at the woman. Her eyes were really bright and full of life unlike him. He was jealous or that look on her face.
"Hi, I'm Helenos." His voice was really strange. It sounded like something that had not been used in a long time.
The woman took his hand. The palm of hers felt rough. It was like the palm of... a palm of whom?
"I'm Thalestris" The woman told him. "I heard that you were a prince in the islands."
"Uh..." Helenos didn't know what to reply back to her. Mycenae was an... was it in-land? He didn't remmember.
"Have you seen the mountains?" Thalestris continued, without waiting for Helenos', "The first time you see one, it will captivate your eyes."
"Yes... I saw one..."
"Well, those are fake." She leaned closer to him. Helenos saw Menelaia's face grow red in anger. "Do you want to go?" Thalestris said loudly. She learned right next to him.
"Do you want to go back" Thalestris whispered, "Your mother asked me if I could take you."
Helenos felt his heart skip a beat. His mother had send him someone to take him out.
The fog, in his mind was gone for a second. Helenos waited for a few seconds until something clicked in his head.
Helenos looked at Menelaia "Can I go, Menelaia? Just for a while..."
Menelaia's clunched her fist. "That is enough!".
She tried to push Thalestris away. But Thalestris stood still.
Thalestris gave a little bit of dried mountain lavender in Helenoss hand.
"This is a gift for the Prince " she said. The world is full of smells that do not come from a palace kitchen."
Menelaia screamed at Thalestris to get out. Menelaia grabbed the Queen Thalestris by the arm and shoved Queen Thalestris toward the door.
Queen Thalestris just laughed as the guards took Queen Thalestris away.
"It was good seeing your prince!" Queen Thalestris laughed, "Oh yeah, and the peace treaty is now active!"
The doors slammed shut and that was it they made a loud noise when they closed it was a heavy thud that meant they were closed for good.
"Haaa... Ha..." Menelaia tried to calm down.
"Menelaia, please..." Helenos said, standing up. "I really want to see the world he told Menelaia. I want to go out and explore the world to see all the things it has to offer."
SLAP.
The blow hit Helenos hard that everything went white. Helenos fell back, against his chair his head was ringing.
Menelaia did not stop. She lunged at Helenos she grabbed the front of his silk robe. She hauled Helenos to his feet just to throw him down onto the hard marble floor.
"What did you say?" Helenos' eardrums hurt.
"... I don't know"
SLAP
"I asked, what do you say."
She kicked Helenos hard in the ribs. It made a cracking sound that was loud in the quiet room. Helenos gasped, his lungs hurt and he could not breathe well so he curled up into a ball, on the stone floor.
Helenos screamed loud his voice started to crack.
"I'm sorry"
"Please..."
"Please..."
...
It stopped.
He slowly looked up at Menelaia. "I'm sorry Menelaia. I'm sorry for what I did."
"Ha..."
"Okay."
"I'll let you go."
Helenos sighed in relief.
"But tell me what you did wrong."
Helenos froze.
"Did you think you'd get away with just that?"
"Now tell me."
Helenos racked his brain. What did he do wrong? He looked at Menelaia's beautiful face again. What, what was it. Ah, he remmembered.
"Was it because I tried to leave the tower?"
"That's one reason..." Menelaia said in a low tone, which made Helenos flinch.
Helenos could remember anything. What was it. What did he do wrong.
"I'll give you five more seconds."
"Five"
Think
"Four"
But Helenos couldn't remember anything.
"Three"
Think
"Two"
I don't know... I don't know
"One."
He was, his face was, against the marble. Menelaia slamed his body on the floor, without letting his head touch the ground.
It hurts Menelaia it really hurts. I am sorry Menelaia I am really sorry. Menelaia, please help me it hurts much.
Menelaia knelt over him her hands were like claws as she grabbed Menelaia grabbed his throat. She slammed his head back against the floor hard. "The second reason was you were close to Thalestris." Menelaia said, her voice was full of anger.
"I kept you safe, from harm " Menelaia told him. ". You want to leave Menelaia for some mountains and a person you do not even know?"
Helenos had the taste of blood in his mouth.
He was crying hard that he could hardly see anything. His hands were shaking really badly as he reached out to touch her dress hoping that she would forgive him and be kind, to him. He really wanted her to show him some mercy so he tried to touch her dress hoping that would help.
"The third reason is that you forgot your promise." Menelaia continued. "You said you will never lie to me again."
"I won't do it again, please"
His voice sounded funny because there was blood in it and he was crying. He kept saying "I promise I won't do it again". He said "I will be good I will be your Prince". Then he said "please stop hurting me".
"How can I trust you?" Then she got up. Looked at him with a lot of disgust. He was lying on the floor all broken. She said "When you try to leave me that is when you feel pain. Pain is what reminds you that you belong to me that you are my person."
She took the lavender from his fingers that were shaking really badly. She crushed it into the floor with her boot. She kept grinding it into the floor until the lavender was nothing but a pile of dust. Then she picked up the cup of tea that was sitting there. She reached out. Grabbed his hair pulling his head back really hard so hard that he let out a loud cry.
She told me to drink it. I had to drink the thing. If I did not drink it all she would hurt my hands badly. She would break every bone in my hands.
Helenos did not fight Helenos. He opened his mouth. He sobbed. The hot liquid that was rotting was poured down Helenos throat. He choked on it. He was swallowing the drug through his tears and the bad taste of his blood, from Helenos.
The cold feeling spread fast it started in his chest and then it went to his brain. This cold feeling made him forget about the mountains completely. It also made him forget about Thalestris. His body just went limp. Fell to the floor.
Menelaia kept watching him until his eyes got all cloudy. She reached out. Gently touched the big bruise on his jaw and she had this really sweet smile on her face that made her seem kind of creepy. " Boy " she said really quietly. "The mountains are not really there. Only Menelaia is real " she told him saying her name like it was the most important thing.
Menelaia threw him on the bed.
It was time to get the taste of him.
..
I need more angst.
But I know that the readers want fluff.
The thing I like about third person is that you can make it sound... Third person.
Okay, back to the normal writing.
Thalestris was an amazon queen... if you read the Percy Jackson series, you wouldn't know.
TMI: The Amazon was a kingdom made up of woman (which was strange in ancient greek, but now that the gender is reversed, well, IDK what to change them into... so Yeah!) Strongest in the world! I guess.
