YOU KNEW
DEREK'S POV:
I cocked a brow at him and smirked. He knew who I was all along. The man in the hoodie, the reason he had his eyes on me during our last meeting, was because he knew who I was. Certainly, there was someone behind him. Someone who was very close to me and knew a good amount of the tactics I always use.
"Did she spread her legs wide open for you to come after me?" I questioned but he didn't say anything. He only gave me a dead stare. I chuckled. The boldness of the man. "Why am I even asking? She did. Or else, how would you know this much about me?" It was a rhetorical question.
"You know if you're trying to get the news out of me, you might well kill me. Because I'm telling you absolutely nothing." What a calm voice he had there.
"My intention is indeed to get the news out of you. But I wouldn't use my usual method. People like you don't need torture. Perhaps your worst fears might do along with torture."
"What are you on about Derek?" He questioned.
"When you believe you're too smart, you allow others to see right through you," I stated. "Your overconfidence was alarming Mendez, it made me wonder why you were so bold in your language. It made you seem interesting, like you know exactly what you're doing. But you forget this is the mafia world, we're not one person. We're diverse in personality." I bent to his level while my men held him down so he wouldn't escape. "You can't trust what you see just because someone told you so. And you can't be so confident because you have backup. It's not enough to save your life." I rose and walked towards the glass before turning again. "I did my research about you and found out you are new to the mafia. I know I'm not mistaken because I was once an amateur. But you made your way to us confidently because you have so many connections. I don't doubt your prowess. I give you many points for achieving the impossible alone." I started a little mockingly. "But you also need to understand something. You can't outdo, the doer. Your mistake was underestimating me, for a second."
"I have nothing to lose Derek. Do your worst." He said and I cocked a brow.
"Bring her in." My men brought in a petite woman. I looked at him. His eyes were glaring at me with so much hatred.
"So you think I'll care about this Derek? What the fuck do you take me for? A lover boy like you?" He asked and one of my men punched him in the mouth. I raised my hand to stop him from continuing. I looked at the woman, all shaken as she looked at her ex-husband.
"Lamas." She called but he wasn't even remorseful.
"Is this the worst you can do Derek?" He questioned and I took out a gun before pointing it at her. His eyes were filled with no remorse at all. He never loved his ex-wife, he just used her as a ladder and left her. Her eyes were filled with fear as she expected her ex-husband to save her. But he didn't make any move. He didn't even struggle. This was the man this woman loved? Like was she being real right now? Did she love a man like this? Who didn't even care at all for her? I just had the image of yesterday when she was explaining how much she loved her ex-husband and yet he slept with so many women even still she loved him to death. Now this was the man that couldn't even protect her when she was in danger. I pulled the trigger and shot her. She fell to the ground and died. The men took her out of the room and I could see him smirk.
"You're no different from me Derek." He said and I chuckled.
"You say that because you know nothing about me. And I'll never be like you. A coward who can't even protect his wife. I'd kill every person that dared laid a finger on mine." My voice lowered forbodingly. "Read my lips. I'll light them up and watch them scream while they burn. And I won't leave until I'm sure they are in ashes." I said while he said nothing more. Then I took my coat and wore it. "Get him out of my sight," I stated while they carried him out of the room. He was going to be released. I would kill him, but I also wanted to test him. If he was dumb enough to fall into my trap, then it was off with his head. I looked out at saw Elena stretching. I cocked my brow. Did she realize my men were everywhere and were probably watching? I swear if I caught any of them staring, they'd be dead. Fuck, that body could kill. I didn't know if she was doing this intentionally. Perhaps she even knew I was here. One could never tell with her. Then she bent, and my eyes widened, because her thick ass was facing me now. And I could see...nearly everything. I needed no expert this time. She knew I was here. Then she stretched again, her ass jiggling a little. Then there came a knock on the door. I looked over my shoulder.
"Come in," I said and there, Mendez's ex-wife came in. She looked at me with teary eyes and I sighed. Now she could see the idiot she had for a husband. I walked up to my table and got an envelope before placing it in her hand. She opened it up. She gasped when she saw the amount I wrote on the cheque.
"I don't think I can accept this."
"It's a compensation for your ex-husband's cowardice. Everything he took from you, money, property, and your family business, that money is more than enough to get them all back." Her eyes watered.
"I don't know how to thank you, Mr Antonio." She said with grateful eyes.
"You don't have to. Just make sure you're happy." This was so unlike me, but she needed help and it was something I could offer. I watched as she left the room, my men escorting her. Well I didn't kill her, I just wanted Mendez to believe she was dead. There was nothing more important to her now than her well-being.
