ODD
Derek's POV:
I found it strange for Damon not to have called to ask about his wife. He wasn't even banging on my door asking me to give him Elena. It was strange because I didn't know what to believe. Was he being real right now? Abandoning his wife without investigating the issue? Did he believe all the rumours? Was that it? I sighed as I walked into the room again. I had no problems with that though, as long as I could have her all to myself, I didn't mind. Fortunately, she was slowly recovering and was a lot better than when they had brought her to me. It's been two weeks now and honestly, I've loved her enthusiasm and smile. She didn't seem broken like she used to. Or was it because her father was dead? Did she remember that?
She seemed to be having fun with her bedspread, just making circles with her fingers around it. She raised her gaze and her eyes met mine. It was about time I went to the store and got her clothes. As much as I loved her wearing my outfit, she still needed to have her dresses.
"You look dressed. Where are you going?"
"You need to get some clothes."
"Can I go with you? I don't want to be stuck inside all day."
"Augusta will keep you company."
"Trust me, she's mean as fuck. If she had the chance to kill me I'm sure she would without any hesitation." She said and I didn't blame her for thinking that way, because that was exactly who Augusta was.
"Fine. But you're going to have to keep a low profile. You can go clean up and wear this hoodie. I flung a hoodie on the bed." She gently got down from the bed and walked into the bathroom before turning on the shower. I exited the room and waited outside. She was suffering from amnesia
Even though I could be a pervert sometimes, I respected her privacy until she allowed me in. Soon, she was out and I looked down at her, she looked up at me. Her cuteness was overloaded. I couldn't believe this was the girl that combatted with me the first time she came here. One would have thought she was innocent. I put on the hoodie for her. It was dangerous for her if people saw her face. She didn't even have any idea that she wasn't safe. I prefer to leave it that way than to remind her of the life she lived to get to where she is today.
I never wanted her to remember Damon. That jerk. He hurt her, beyond what she could even imagine, he made her cry and caused her to lose her memory. He was good enough to defend her on video, but everyone still knew that his wife was dead. Or so they thought. They believed he killed her indeed. And maybe that's the reason he was not so bent on calling her. His call could be traced. I sighed because Damon was being a confusing sort of guy. He accused me so many times of killing our parents but he had no idea what the real story was. He hated me ever since then and tried to kill me for it. I noticed she wasn't walking with me anymore and I turned to see her staring at nothing in particular. I furrowed my brows and stopped so I could understand what was going on. She shook her head and yeah that was a sign for me to get closer to her. She stumbled a little and almost fell but I caught her with ease. I couldn't believe I was asking this question. This girl made me so vulnerable.
"Are you all right?" It sounded foreign to my tongue. I've never asked anyone that question. But she? She nodded. She needed a check and I needed a doctor who would keep his mouth shut and examine her when we got home. She got into my car and leaned on the back seat. She needed to rest as much as she possibly could. I sighed, me being this caring for anyone, even women was all so foreign to me. I started the car and drove to a mall far away from here. The people close by are the most dangerous. I couldn't trust the close malls. Elena and I walked into it and she looked around at the beautiful things that caught her eyes. She tried to look up but I put her head down so the hoodie would cover her face quite well. She couldn't give herself away. I got a lot of clothes and shoes for her and of course, she was a lady. I had to get all her lady stuff as well. I cleared my throat at the thought of that. I took out my credit card and placed it on the table. The cashier took it and took the amount. I was glad the cashier didn't say the amount out. It probably would have shocked many of the people walking by. And honestly, I didn't want that kind of attention. I've experienced that shit before. I held her hand and walked her out of the mall when we caught two family people heading towards the entrance.
Leo and his girlfriend Jessie. They'd come out of a car...well there were two and I could guess Damon was in the first. What a coincidence. Elena raised her head a little a little bit and I looked at her to see if she was going to recognize them, but her face seemed neutral like she was seeing these people for the first time. Then she glanced up at me.
"Why did we stop?"
"Elena." That was Jessie's voice. She ran towards Elena and checked her body seeing if she was okay. My driver man hurried and took the bags from my hand before heading back to the car. Jessie hugged Elena who looked as confused as a girl receiving sweets instead of flowers. Jessie glanced at me and I stylishly shrugged. She still couldn't remember anything.
"You still can't remember me can you?" Jessie asked, even Leo stood beside her looking concerned. "I'm so sorry I wasn't able to protect you, Elena." Elena's brows furrowed and my head tilted. Was she trying to remember where she saw this face?
"You look familiar. But I can't remember where we met. How did you know my name?" Jessie's eyes were teary now, and she was about to continue when Leo stopped her.
"It's okay, let's just go." Jessie's eyes lingered on Elena as she walked past. And I raised my gaze to see, Damon was staring out his window, directly at us. But he didn't move from where he was. It was so unlike him. For power, he abandoned his wife. It was a pity. But a blessing for me.
