“Like what? Fucking that prostitute. I’m so disappointed in you Elijah, I would have believed you had a little more class seeing how it ended with t—“he hung up and hauled the phone at the bed not wanting to hear any more of the rubbish his father had to say.
He let out an exasperated breath and brushed his hand over his face. His father has successfully ruined his night and he didn’t think anything would arouse him after hearing the man’s voice. He walked to his closet and pulled out a pair of sweats and a black shirt before throwing it on and walking back out.
She was still on the bed, laying now with the covers over her, she sat up when she heard him walk him holding the sheets against her boobs. He didn’t know what that was for when he’d seen her and had that part of her biology in his mouth minutes ago, he didn’t voice it though instead focused on stopping the stirring in his body at the thought of her.
Speaking to his father had ruined his mood, she couldn’t fix it with her body, that was for sure.
Elena swallowed watching the man she knew and saw almost every day with the expression she was used to, blank and closed off and she knew whatever had been about to happen was over and done with. She felt both relieved and disappointed but she tried her best to look normal.
“You can stay here for the night,” the heavy and husky voice she’d heard most of the night was gone and his voice resembled the look in his eyes, cold, dark and empty.
She nodded slowly looking around the room for a clock to see what time it was, it was a few minutes past one and she wouldn’t want to leave by that time.
“Okay,” she managed to whisper, biting her lip. He stared at her for a few seconds and he almost looked like he wanted to say something but on second thought he turned and walked out leaving her, naked and alone in the unfamiliar room.
Though she worked for him, she has never been to his apartment for more than obvious reasons, sure she picked up his dry cleaning and all that but there was always a maid there to take them from her. Thinking about it just then she doesn’t know anyone from his family, she knows he has a family and she bet she could look them up but they never went to the office to meet him and she has never organized a family event for him.
It was like he took extra effort to keep his personal and business life separate, there must be a reason for that. She stopped herself before she could get any ideas in her head on getting to know him, that would just be plain stupid and unprofessional whichever way she looks at it.
Elena threw her hand over her face and groaned realizing just how fucked up the situation was, now that she was not drunk or high on lust that she couldn’t think clearly. She had to be extra careful with everything she does and best of all try to make sure it doesn’t happen.
There is no way she would forget the night they had, even if she wanted to.
Elijah laid on his bed though his mind was on the woman in the other room, if he wasn’t so pissed at his father for obviously stalking him he would have been worried about where his thoughts were heading.
It wasn’t his bedroom yes but it still felt weird, he couldn’t remember the last a woman had slept over at his place. Even his casual hook-ups were at one of his hotels or their place. Bringing them to his apartment was a bit too personal for him and staying the night usually gave them ideas that it would happen again, the fact that they know where he lives makes them think they can visit at any time and he would be down for it.
He had reached a point where sex didn’t even interest him and so the causal hook-ups stopped too. Camille had said she damaged him and he wouldn’t normally admit it but she did, badly.
His mother’s scars weren’t as bad as the one she had left behind, he had loved her with everything in him. How she had made him leave his shell, taught him how to love, the value of love and the beauty of it then she went ahead and ripped his heart out leaving him with a hollow chest. His mother might have broken his heart but she was the one that ruined him, the one woman he loved with all of him and now the reason he would never trust another.
They were all lying, conniving creatures to him and it would stay like that for years to come. It was a good thing she took his heart too, it was a lot easier to be heartless when you don’t have one to begin with.
It may be a coping mechanism of some sort for his detachment issues, he didn’t care though. So long it works then it isn’t stupid.
She had been paid to toy with him and she did, she did a very good job being a great actress. He couldn’t help thinking every smile, every ‘I love you’ out of her lips were just lies.
What she’d told him before she left was that all of it was just lies. Acting.
“I didn’t think you would fall that hard, that fast.” She’d laughed mockingly.
He shook his head getting rid of the thoughts, it always comes with a deep sense of self loathe at how he’d still wanted to beg her to stay and keep on acting, he loved her that much. He would have given up everything for her, his self-respect had gone before everything else when he pleaded with her to love him.
He knew it was never going to happen again.
