Slapped
Chapter 67
The party was going well as Ashley and Mikhail walked into the beautiful and spacious hall.
The decorations were that of the showroom while the women present were dressed to kill.
Well, Ashley was not exceptional as her dress clung to her skin making her look more radiating.
"Do you love the drink?" Mikhail asked and she nodded, seeing that her glass was empty.
They had been invited by Mikhail's friend Mason Scott who was throwing a party for the newest product he had launched.
She smiled seeing her sister climb up the stage to give a speech.
After she was done, a round of applause echoed in the huge hall and Ashley could not be more proud of her sister.
She was the partner of the host and although Sandra would never admit it...she felt something brewing up between the two.
"Do you feel comfortable baby?" Mikhail asked and she nodded, leaning closer to him and kissing him on the kiss for him to smile and pat her head.
"We're going to go see your mother once we're done here, okay?" He mumbled and she nodded happily.
Their mother was awake now and after this she would get to see her mother and kiss the woman, thanking her for not dying and leaving her alone in this cruel world.
"Hi, sister." Sandra walked to their seat and Ashley smiled.
"Aren't you the prettiest In the house?" Ashley said to have the latter turnaround to display her beauty.
"How are you doing? Ha! I've got to go." Sandra mumbled as Mason had begun to look around.
"Wait a minute.."
"He's looking for me. He can't just stay without me for a little while. Ha! Mama's boy!" Sandra cussed as she pushed the other thoughts away and ran to meet the man that heaved a deep breath, seeing her walk towards him.
Mikhail's phone rang and he stood up.
"Make yourself comfortable and if anyone says a word, don't forget to put them in their place... You're the Queen here. I'll be right back, okay?" He asked, pressing a kiss on her temples and she nodded with a smile.
Just as Mikhail had left her, she sighed as she settled down on the chair and made herself comfortable.
"Isn't she like a leech?" She heard someone whisper behind her and decided not to eavesdrop.
Maybe they weren't talking to her...after all, she was no leech.
"Raising her shoulders high like she owns the world. Stupid her. Doesn't know that the husband she's keeping is a demon in sheep's clothing...might as well kill her to prove a point."
"I don't know what Mikhail saw in her to take her as his bride but she is no different from a damaged being. Look at her skin." The other said more loudly as if wanting her to hear it.
"Not even a bride but a wife. Heard they got married without a wedding."
"Why would he marry her and still hold a wedding? Poor girl would think he loves her."
The table was just behind hers and yet they were still running their foul mouth.
Ashley tried controlling herself as she sipped her wine not hearing what the other ladies were talking about her.
"Why would he love someone like her? A leech with no background. Heard she's tying him down with a baby. Wonder if the baby is even his, to begin with."
It was too much for Ashley to take in anymore as she turned to them and with a sly smile..spoke.
"I would like to join this conversation. I know the woman too much than anyone of you. She's my best friend." Ashley said with a smile other's eyes widened.
"You're not the wife?"
"I'm I? Do I look like her? Asou said.. she's a leech and there's no way I look like a leech." Ashley said and the others nodded.
"The girls are too proud, she was supposed to attend a meeting last week seeing that she was now the wife of the Leader of.. something peculiar and yet she didn't show up. Made us look like fools while she danced around at home." The fair lady said, rolling her eyes as she stared at her nails.
"Hmm..she must be a bitch to not show up. What a weak human." Ashley nodded.
"Isn't she your friend? Did she annoy you to make you join us in belittling her?" The fair one asked again to see Ashley snort.
"She's such a nice person, acts as if she's the nicest human on earth, that's why I hate her," Ashley said to have others nod.
"Ha! Thank God you came in place of her. The man seemed attracted to you, seeing how he was patting your head and kissing you publicly. You would look good with him, take him by force from that pompous idiot."
Ashley couldn't take it anymore.
She was going to pretend to the end but not anymore...they were trying to irk her innermost monster.
"You called her a leech and now you're asking me to take another person's husband by force?"
"Isn't that what you're already doing? I bet she thinks her best friend is doing all the good work while you're here flirting and kissing her husband. Too bad for her." The older woman sneered.
"Well well, a while ago you were slandering her for using charms on the man and praising me for getting him for myself and now we're enemies?" Ashley asked to see the women huffed and rolled their eyes.
"Well, I expected nothing from low lives like yours she shed and stood up.
Going to the blonde woman who had that sharp eyes and a face that looked like a mannequin, she bent down and whispered in her ear.
"I am the wife. I am Ashley Mazza and don't you worry...I won't hurt anyone of you for what I heard today. But let it be the last time you'd ever gossip about me. I can be a very dangerous person if I choose to be." She said and was about to walk away and stopped only to bend down again.
"And Ha! I forgot to tell you this. Your name is Malia Carlos and your husband runs a grocery shop downtown... how will it feel if your husband's shop got on fire? Tsk tsk! It would be so horrible. Wouldn't it?" She hissed and smiled at the woman before walking away.
The woman had her eyes widened as she tried to get her breath.
"What did she say?" The others asked as she turned to see Ashley that was already out of the hall.
"What did she say, Malia? Stop acting as if you saw a demon. She's nothing but talk no bite." The older woman said to have Malia Carlos shake her head.
"She isn't talking and no bite... excuses me, I have to call my husband." She said, walking out of the hall as well.
"Hello, honey." She panicked as she answered the call.
"How are you doing? Where are you?"
" Are you okay honey? Did anything happen today at the shop?" She asked.
"No, nothing happens. Although the shop nearly caught fire then some men helped me extinguish it and I'm alright." The man said, making her eyes go wide as she looked around to see if she could see the woman.
"Men? What was the color of their clothes?'
"They wore black suits and it was God's divine way of helping. I would have been burnt to death...Hahaha."
"No, close the shop and go home, honey. It isn't safe to be there today. I crossed paths with someone dangerous and she's trying to harm...Ah!" The call got disconnected as her phone fell to the ground and she looked up to see Ashley standing on the pavement.
"What are you doing?" The woman shrieked, moving backward.
"Well, since you and your friends decided to spoil my evening, I thought of coming to get fresh air and you also came to disturb me," Ashley mumbled, arranging her dress as she picked up the hanky she had used to sit on the pavement.
"Please spare my husband, I was just joking earlier. You're not a weak and a leech. We women just love talking about anything that comes to mind." The woman begged.
"Really?" Ashley asked.
"If that's so..then don't you worry about me as well. I don't think anything will happen as long as you just keep quiet when you get to that chair." Ashley said and smiled before walking away from the woman.
This wasn't how she planned it though. She had wanted to end it with a slap because of f the the all other women, she had said the most irritating thing.
Anyway...she knew that was enough and the woman would never dare gossip again.
"Where to Ma'am?" Rob asked and she smiled, getting into the car.
"Where Mikhail is." She answered and he nodded.
Looking out to see the woman still standing there like a statue..she chuckled and shook her head.
Was that even better than the slap?!
