Chapter 104 Wrong Move
KIA
Since I had the best score on the midterm examination, the teacher decided to exempt me from taking the lengthy quiz that the rest of my classmates were required to take. When I arrived in the classroom, she informed me that my classmates were required to take the lengthy quiz. Miaree and Marcy were yelling at me to come inside, but the professor wouldn't let me in. I heard them yelling from outside. She claimed that I was unable to provide assistance to my friends in completing their lengthy test.
But that wasn't the reason why I wanted to go inside, and it also wasn't the reason why my friends were calling me. Both of those things happened for entirely different reasons. The fact that Miaree and Marcy were two of the best students on campus meant that they did not require assistance from me to pass that lengthy quiz.
"However, your Majesty, I will not be assisting them in any way. I simply desired to remain sedentary." I begged her to let me in, but she would not budge. I said that to her several times.
She told them, "You can go to the library to read the next lesson, which we will discuss on Wednesday." "You can go to the library to read the next lesson."
Because I had no other option, I had no choice but to leave and look for another location where I could stay. After milling about for a while, I made up my mind to head in the direction of the library. I was able to locate a place where I could conceal myself and take a nap; however, after I got comfortable, I found that I was unable to fall asleep because a group of students wanted to take a picture with me. As soon as they walked away, I hastily grabbed my bag and dashed to the nearest playground, beating them to it by a few minutes and denying them the opportunity to call their friends or visit the library. My life as a college student is so much more difficult because I am always the best...
I decided to go home. As I was going about my business, I became aware of a collection of students staring at me. At this point, I had fully anticipated that they would approach me, so it came as a shock when they did not. They didn't do anything more than peer at me from a distance and murmur something to each other. I arrived at the gate by walking directly there, and just as I was about to go through it, a car abruptly pulled over next to me.
When the window was rolled down, a person who was already known to the speaker appeared. He called out to her and inquired, "Hey, are you going home?" Nate asked me a question, and I responded to him by nodding and smiling slightly. "Would you like to go for a ride with me?"
When he asked that, for some reason, I just immediately thought of Ares. I have no idea why. It's possible that I'm just becoming anxious because I can't help but think about how he would react if he saw Nate and me together. I really don't want him to misunderstand anything, because that's exactly what happened the last time it happened a very long time ago.
“Mhmm. Not at this time, but thank you very much..." I then continued walking while muttering something to myself and gesturing with my hand. After I had finished saying that to him, thankfully, he got into his car and left.
As soon as I stepped outside, I reached for my phone and attempted to get in touch with Ares. I had to ask him two different times before he finally responded.
I heard him clearing his throat and saying, "Hi, hon! I'm curious to hear about how your day went at school."
"It was very exciting, similar to a ride on a rollercoaster. Since I don't have any classes today, I'm not sure how I should be feeling, but in any case, I'm going to try to get some rest before heading home."
"Something fresh has been added. You've never left the party earlier than everyone else before, have you? There is still 11:55 left in the day... Have you had anything to eat since you got here?" it was asked by him.
"No, I guess I'll just do it at home," the speaker responded.
"No, don't. You can count on me to come and get you. Have you ever considered having lunch with me? Where are you currently located?"
"I had just about reached the point where I needed to leave for the bus stop. Wait! Aren't you at work? What kind of transportation do you have available to pick me up with?" I inquired with a sense of curiosity.
"Oh! My boss left the office early, so we are essentially without leadership at the moment. I'll go now. Please hold on for a moment, all right?"
"Mhmm."
After that, he ended the call, and after some more minutes of waiting, I saw his adorable grey Suzuki Swift car. I got inside, and all of a sudden, while he was driving, he asked me where I wanted to eat if I had any preferences.
Anywhere, but I've been having a craving for Jollibee as of late...
He then said, "Jollibee," and went to the Jollibee that was closest to him. However, due to the fact that it was lunchtime, the eatery was completely full of customers, and there were no empty seats available. After that, we made the decision to simply go through the drive-through window. Following the arrival of the food that we had ordered, the three of us made our way to the beach, where he had parked his vehicle.
Suddenly, he inquired, "Hon, how was your day?" (How was your day, honey?)
Before responding to him, I took a few moments to compose myself and breathe deeply. "I could barely function due to how exhausted I was. Right! I am going to fill you in on everything that took place earlier, but before I do that, could you please open the ketchup?" I asked.
He giggled and opened it for me. I spread some ketchup on my french fries before eating them, and I do this while eating them. "In any case, the dean of the college or university invited me to visit her office shortly after I arrived at the institution. I was under the impression that we were going to take a look at the investigation that took place the previous week, but we didn't! She made a remark that ended up rearranging the course of my life, specifically my life at that particular university."
Ares appears perplexed by the situation. He inquired, "What do you mean?" (meaning, "what do you mean?").
"She referred to me as the Ace going forward after announcing that I had received the highest score on the midterm exam, which served double duty as our qualification exam. But were you aware that there is something else that comes along with having the Ace title? They said that when you were the Ace, everyone would look up to you, they would idolize you, they would see you as their leader, and they would respect you. They also said that when you were the Ace, they would respect you. However, there is more to come on that front... In addition to that, she assigned me my very own office, and I have my very own table in the employee cafeteria. They also instructed me to ensure that I will form an organization whose members will assist me in managing the campus and I am to comply with this instruction. I suppose what I'm trying to say is that I feel completely overwhelmed right now! Please tell me I'm dreaming, because this doesn't seem real..." I said.
He didn't say anything else other than smile at me while his sparkling eyes looked right at me. He didn't say anything. "Hey, do you guys have any tangential comments?" I snapped my fingers in order to shake him out of his daydream and bring him back to reality.
The next thing he did was shake his head and emit a giggling sound. "I'm sorry. Your ability to captivate an audience with just a few words is truly remarkable. But, whatever the case may be, sweetheart, you are not dreaming. Everything that is going on in your life, including the bad things and the good, is real. Congratulations!"
I am positive that my face turned red as I experienced a burning sensation all over my face and a prickling sensation all around my ears. My chest is tightening up and my heart is beating extremely fast. Gosh! Did he mean that he fell in love with me due to the fact that I told him a story?
"Uhmm... thank you very much" When I was in the middle of explaining something, I was abruptly cut off when it began to pour rain, and not just a light drizzle with a few large droplets. It appears as though a storm is going to arrive soon. The city is being encircled by a rumbling thunder that is getting increasingly loud. It would appear that someone is responsible for the angry sky we have today. "What?! What caused the rain to start pouring down all of a sudden? I haven't even heard a single rumor or piece of gossip about it today!"
"Honey, I've noticed that you never watch the morning news..." Ares said, awkwardly.
"Oh, I see..."
Because of the circumstances, there is no other option but for us to immediately return home. Ares' phone began to ring unexpectedly while we were still traveling, so we had to pull over to answer it. When he picked it up, they only talked for about a minute, and then he put it back down again.
"The question is, what took place? Who was that?" I asked.
"It was Kyle who said that. He solicited my assistance in resolving the issue. There was an unexpected situation in their department, and they required assistance, so... I was wondering, honey, if it would be alright if I went back to the company to help them out."
"Yeah, no problem. Given that it is raining today, it is imperative that you drive carefully."
Ares drove me home and then we both took off as soon as we got there. Before he finally left, he cautioned me not to leave the house while he was gone and told me that he would try to get home as early as possible, after which he dropped me off at the house. He also made the promise to me that he would leave as soon as he could. Perhaps he was experiencing some form of anxiety. The explanation for why he said that is as follows: I made my way inside and changed into my pajamas once I was settled in. In addition to that, considering how chilly it is outside, I made some hot chocolate.
I took a sip of my piping hot chocolate before heading into the living room to watch Stitch, which is my all-time favorite animated show. I'm not sure how long I stood there watching, but when I finally turned my attention to the window, the rain had already stopped falling. In addition to that, I finished off my cup of hot chocolate. I had just made my way into the kitchen when I noticed that my phone had started to ring. Before picking up the phone, I hastened over to the sink to set my cup down before answering the call. The call originated from a number that was not recognized.
At first, there was complete silence among all of the participants. However, after a few seconds had passed, she swallowed and cleared her throat. "Kianna? Is this Kianna we're talking about? "She inquired while talking to the person on the other line.
I have the impression that I have heard her voice before. Where have I previously come across this particular voice?
"Hello? Who is this?" I asked.
"Hello, my name is Vera! When you answered the phone, there was complete silence, and I thought at first that I had dialed the wrong number. To keep the conversation going, do you happen to be on campus at this moment? I tried to find you in every single place, but I was unable to do so..."
"Oh, I got off work early and drove straight home."
"That's the case, isn't it? I was just about to ask you whether you wanted to get our project underway when you interrupted me. This afternoon is free for me to do whatever I want, but seeing as how you are already at your house, perhaps we can get together another time. When exactly do you have some spare time?"
When I looked at the clock, it said that it was still two o'clock in the afternoon. There is still a considerable amount of time available. "I don't have anything scheduled for today; however, I was wondering if it would be all right if we worked on the project here at my house instead?"
I didn't think she'd say yes, but since I can't leave the house because my husband told me earlier that I shouldn't, I have no choice but to ask her. I was hoping she'd say no, but I'm not holding my breath.
"Are you sure? So, if that's something you're comfortable with, then by all means!"
"Great! I am going to send the address to you via text message. Oh, and just so I'm clear, are you going to be taking the bus, or do you have your own vehicle with you?"
Oh, I actually decided not to bring my car to school with me today, so I suppose that means I'll have to take the bus instead. She was the one who responded.
That's odd. Always, whenever she goes anywhere, she takes her car with her. And I've never heard anyone say that she was actually able to ride the bus without getting lost. I suppose a significant amount of development occurred after she made the decision to be kind to others...
"Alright! I will be waiting for you at the bus stop. Please don't be late."
Before hanging up, she greeted her friend with a "See you, Kia!" before saying goodbye.
It is very strange to feel like this. I'm not used to her calling me by my nickname in a tone as friendly as the one she used there; it's not something I hear very often. Considering that she was my collaborator on a project, it appears as though I will need to find a way to adjust to it. Before I forgot, I sent her my address right away, and after ten minutes I left the house and went to the bus stop to wait for Vera.
After waiting for another five minutes, the bus came to a stop right in front of Kia, and as Kia had anticipated, Vera was one of the people who got off.
"Hi, Kia!" She offered a friendly smile to Kia as they greeted one another.
"Hi! I was wondering how your experience on the bus was. I never thought you could ride a bus," Kia said, jokingly.
"In point of fact, I didn't do that! But since I don't have a choice, I just asked the driver to let me off at the bus stop that's close to your house, and now I'm here. I have made it this far!"
During their conversation, which was about Vera's first time riding a bus by herself, they both burst out in fits of laughter. A scary but unforgettable experience. They start walking to Kianna's house, but they aren't aware that someone is looking at them. It was the same guy who kept on showing up when Kianna was alone walking at night. It was the same hoodie he kept on wearing whenever Kianna saw him. He was wearing flip-flops while carrying a bag of food in his hand. He suddenly clenched his fist like he was so angry with what he was seeing.
He was on the other side of the road, but then when Kianna and Vera started walking, he immediately rushed in the direction of the two. He was so fast… so fast like he was in a hurry… but when he was about to get near Kianna and Vera, four men wearing a mask grabbed him and threw him inside a white van before driving away.
When Vera and Kianna looked back when they heard something behind them but when they looked back they only saw two men wearing masks entering the white van. They both looked at each other, confused about what they were seeing, but unfortunately, they didn't see the man wearing the hoodie being kidnapped.
"What's with them?" Vera whispered at Kianna, but then the two unidentified men suddenly looked at them. Kianna immediately grabbed Vera's hand and ran for their precious lives.
