Chapter 16 Blood Stain
Kia
The bus hasn't passed yet after almost an hour. I have no idea how long I have to wait. My feet no longer feel anything. The only sensation I have is pain emanating from my lower abdomen. I have to return home. When frigid air passes by, a shiver goes down my spine. Condensation is thick in the air, and the sky is reverberated by a dull roar that sounds rather like a snare drum. While leaves soar into the air, trees shiver in the chilly wind. Crystal tears fall silently to the ground as a steady mist of rain starts to fall from gloomy clouds. The sky is lit up by incandescent lightning, which is quickly followed by an audible rumble.
“Great! What an unfortunate day it is!” I sighed.
I need to find a way to go home now. I don’t bring an umbrella with me. If I wait here for another hour, I will be soaking wet later because of the coming rain. Maybe I will just take a taxi home.
I get into a taxi and ask the driver to take me home. While on the road, he keeps on checking on me. Maybe he noticed that I didn’t feel good... As night fell across the road, the rain became stronger and began to beat on the roof. Raindrops pounded against the window's glass. I can't help but admit that I kind of enjoy the weather. It's likely that I'm not the only person who appreciates a good downpour.
It had been raining for half an hour now. “Miss, we are here.” The taxi driver said, staring at me from his mirror.
“Oh, thank you!” I said while giving him the money. I got off the car and started running towards the side of the road.
“Hey, miss! You look under the weather. How about I send you to the hospital?” the driver shouted.
“No, thanks. I am fine. I just need a rest at home." I answered.
I am on my period and got caught in the rain. It feels like I am going to collapse anytime here. I need to head home and take some pills—
I started walking when I felt dizzy all of a sudden. I was about to collapse when someone just held my hand and assisted me, “Thank you so much." I am fine. I just slipped. I don’t need to go to the hospital, sir— oh, it’s you…”

After work, I immediately drive home. I was so worried, thinking that she would need to commute. I was about to turn right, but then I saw her walking in the rain. What the hell is she doing here? I thought she had already headed home.
I immediately got off my car and rushed to her when she suddenly seemed about to collapse. I grab her hand and help her stand up.
“Thank you so much." I am fine. I just slipped. I don’t need to go to the hospital, sir— oh, it’s you... "
“Kia… Why didn’t you wait for me so that I could pick you up since you are not feeling well?! You are still okay like this? You look so pale, plus it rained so hard! If I wasn’t here on time, you would have just fallen to the ground!” I glared at her waiting for an answer.
She touched her abdomen and pressed it harder. “I... Hon, I feel so bad.”
My heart suddenly stopped—Did she just call me, hon? This is the first time she called me like this... I shook my head. It is still raining. I have to send her back home first!
“Hon, I am sorry. I was too fierce just now. If you are not feeling well, let us head home first. Come, I will carry you.” I said while offering my hands to carry her.
Her eyes widened and she suddenly started backing quickly, “No, thanks! I can walk!"
Oh, my wife is shy... She looks so cute acting like this...
“Come on, hon. Don’t worry. It’s just me.” I immediately carried her. “I’ll take you home. Back to our home.” I murmured while staring at her shining eyes.
“Alright… Let’s go home.” She hides her face on my chest.
I must be under a spell. Otherwise, why do I feel excited every time I hold her…
We get back to the car and headed home.
“Go take a bath, so you don’t catch a cold!”
“Got it!” She answered while getting in the bathroom.
I grab a towel and started drying my hair when I suddenly noticed something in my hand— Where is this blood stain come from?!
I immediately went to the bathroom and knock on the door, “Kia! Kia, open the door! Why didn’t you tell me that you hurt yourself? We must go to the hospital, now!” I was being hysterical.
“What do you mean? I didn’t hurt myself. What are you talking about?” She answered.
“Then how will you explain the blood stain on my hand? Did someone stab you?!”
“What?! There is a stain on your hand?!” She opens the door and stares at my hand. “Oh my God! I am really sorry… I am on my period right now..”
What? It’s her time of the month?? What am I gonna do?! I have never encountered these things before!!
What am I gonna do!!!
Ah, yes!
“Go take a bath first I need to do something,” I said and immediately went to the sink and wash my hands before drying them and grabbing my phone.
* ringing * ringing * ringing *
[Hello, son. What’s up? You haven’t called for a long time—]
“Mom! How to deal with painful periods??”
[Oh, my god. HAHAHAHA! My eardrum was almost damaged by your voice. Calm down for God's sake! Are you saying that you already have a girlfriend?]
“Mom! Please just answer my question and stop laughing at me, or I will ask someone else!”
[Okay, Hijo. I will stop. There is actually no effective way to treat dysmenorrhea. However, hot tea or hot chocolate can work a little bit. Oh and also if you have ginger, add some to the brown sugar then put hot water. It’s better to drink it while it’s hot.]
“Mhm, I got it. Thank you, mom! I love you!”
I immediately drop the call and grab my coat. I don’t have those at home. I have to go to the supermarket to buy some. I will go and come back quickly while she is still taking a bath…
