Chapter 53 He Came Back
KIA
…He promised to pick me up after school…
There is only one subject left, the Theory of Personality, which takes two hours. I am currently in the library trying to be alone. It’s actually lunchtime right now, but I don’t have the appetite to eat, so I decided not to eat and just spend my time in the library. But after Ares called me, I just felt like something in my stomach was growling like a lion. I immediately grabbed my bag and went to the cafeteria. I still had twenty minutes before lunch ended.
I need to hurry!
Time passed, and all the students just left, leaving the canteen a mess. I went straight to my department and found a seat. My eyes catch Miaree, so I walk toward her and sit beside her. She was looking at me suspiciously the whole time.
…I don’t know what is wrong with her…
“Hey, what happened?” she whispered, curiously.
I covered her mouth, “Shhh! What do you mean?”
“You are acting different today. Did something happen?”
“No…”
“Oh, you are such a liar, Kianna!”
“I’m serious! I will tell you later—”
“Girls at the back! Ms. Ishii and Ms. Saavedra, do you mind sharing with your classmates what you are whispering there?” Mrs. Ramos asked, looking at us. Her looks give me a shiver.
“Nothing, Ma’am,” Miaree answered.
“Nothing? You were both busy whispering there while I was talking here in front. Do you lose your manners?”
“We are very sorry, Mrs. Ramos. We will never do it again.” I stood up and bowed my head.
“Very well, Kianna. Yes, you will never do it again because I want the both of you to go outside! I don’t want you in my class!” she shouted, furiously. She even points to the door with her finger.
Miaree and I look at each other. She grabbed her bag and stood up. Since I didn’t want to cause more drama inside this room, I followed Miaree outside, but before I left, I saw Vera smirking. It seems like the devil is happy about what happened to us. Oh, well! I don’t care, Mrs. Ramos just read the book anyway. I know how to read too. We went outside the department and sat on the bench. When our eyes met, we started laughing so hard.
“Did you see her face while screaming to make us go outside?” Miaree asked while tears of joy formed in her eyes.
“You are such a brat! But did you see Vera’s reaction? She looks so happy that Mrs. Ramos kicked us out. She thought she won, but the truth is she will suffer from the recitation later. It’s a good thing that she kicked us out. I didn’t read the textbook today!”
“Oh my God! Me too! That is why I stood up right away. I didn’t want her to change her mind! — Hey! You didn't answer my question earlier. Did something happen? You look so happy and glowing today." Miaree suddenly asked.
I gave her a bright smile and grabbed her hand and shook it repeatedly. "He called me earlier!"
"What?! How dare that asshole contact you again?! I will break his leg!"
"Miaree, he said sorry to me and I guess there must be a reason that is why he did that—"
"It's useless to say sorry! You cannot forgive him that easily! Make him kneel and beg for it! Kianna, don't be so easy! Make it hard for him! You are so precious, you shouldn't be taken for granted!" Miaree interjected.
"Alright, I will make it hard for him, but I will listen to him first."
"Fine! It's a deal! Just don't make it so easy, okay? Your husband is a jerk. He shouldn't be treated like a VIP!" Miaree said she seemed so pissed off.
I pulled her and gave her a hug, "Thank you so much, Miaree! Thank you for caring about me…"
Buzz— Buzz— Buzz—
"Speaking of the devil," Miaree rolled her eyes as she looked at my phone.
I was about to answer it when Miaree suddenly held my hand and said, "Mark your words!"
"Yes, ma’am!” I said before standing up to answer the call.
“Hello—”
[Hi, hon. Is your class over?]
“Uhm… Kind of—”
[Great, I’m here in front of your school gate.]
“What? You are here? Alright! Wait for me there. I will go there right away!”
I unexpectedly clicked the end button when Miaree suddenly grabbed my hair. “Oh, come on. Why did you make it so easy for him? What about our deal?!”
“Hee– hee– hee. I’m sorry, Miaree, but my husband is waiting for me outside. I've got to go. Mwah!” I said, blowing a kiss at her.
“You bitch! Get back here!” Miaree screamed as I ran towards the gate.
“Bye, best friend! I will treat you next time!”
I ran so fast from the department all the way to the gate. I am out of breath. As I arrived outside the gate, I stopped for a second to catch my breath.
Woosh—
…Where is he?...
I looked around, and I spotted him in the corner, leaning in his car. “Ares!” I screamed, and that scream immediately caught his attention. He looked in my direction and said, “Kianna!”
…The moment I see him again, all the problems seem not to be that important anymore. I feel so comfortable with him. Why didn’t I trust him? Why did I believe my instinct rather than his words? His eyes are honest. I am such an idiot…
I immediately threw myself at him and gave him a warm hug. It’s like a pair of wings that just surround me, magically and unexpectedly. I feel the warmth as the pair of hands enfold me like a favorite blanket. Having him hug me feels out of this world. The love I feel coming from his body into mine is a feeling that I would never get from anyone else. He makes me feel so happy to have his arms around me and his body so tight against mine.
“You idiot! I miss you very much!” I said as my tears started forming in my eyes and betraying me as they flowed uncontrollably.
His eyes brought me closer to him. He made a slight inclination toward me and placed his mouth on my mouth, which was like a freshly cut open fig. He kissed me for a while, and I was deeply amazed as I discovered how intelligent he was, how he controlled me, distracted me, and enticed me back. He is still awaiting each one; each one is unique. I continued to stand, taking a long breath in and out. At this point, I felt like a little child who has just discovered the wealth of information and worthwhile things that are available to him.
