Chapter 55 Unexpected Plan
Kianna had spent the majority of the night walking around outside by herself when she ultimately made the decision to return given the increasing chill of the wind. When she pulled up in front of their house, she discovered that her husband was already waiting for him there. He is slouched in that position, sitting on the ground. Kianna inched her way closer to Ares over time. Ares noticed that she was one foot in front of him as she approached closer. He turned his head slowly upward and saw Kianna standing there, looking concernedly at him.
"Why are you here outside?" As Kianna assisted Ares in standing, she asked the question to him.
"I feared you were going to leave me, but here I am, waiting for you to return..." After Ares answered, he went ahead and gave Kianna a hug. A hug filled with need and the worry that Kianna will eventually leave him.
Kianna snuggled up to him and put her cheek against his chest. "I won't... I just wanted some quiet time to myself, but everything is alright now. Let's have breakfast?" She inquired while flashing a radiant smile.
Ares gave Kianna a kiss on the forehead as he nodded his head in agreement. After entering the house, they helped each other to prepare breakfast for themselves before Ares took Kianna to school. Ares did not waste any time and grabbed her hand. "Call me when you want me to pick you up, okay?"
"Okay," was Kianna's response to the question.
Ares did not want to release his grip on her hand, but he is aware that he can’t cling to her wife that way. Before releasing it, he gave Kianna's hand a gentle kiss on the palm before pulling away. "I love you!"
"I love you too, but I have to now…" Kianna jumped out of the car and dashed toward the campus as quickly as she could. As she raced for their department, she found that, fortunately, their professor had not yet arrived when she got there.
"What's keeping you so late? I was afraid you would be absent from class once more." Miaree spoke in a hushed tone.
"Earlier, we found ourselves caught in traffic. Where is the professor? Why does it look like the class was still not started?” Kianna inquired with a sense of wonder.
“Because of a very important gathering that took place this morning, the majority of the lecturers were absent from their designated classrooms,” Marcy responded as he moved closer to Miaree and Kianna.
"Special meeting for what?" Miaree asked.
They needed to move closer so that Marcy could say something to them, he then told them, “The exam for the first half of the semester will be given this month. I was told by a member of the faculty that the examination will be held the following week—"
"What?! However, they—"
"Shhh!" Almost instantly, Marcy placed her finger over Miaree's mouth. "I said, keep it quiet. What's the matter with you? You sound like a complete idiot.”
After making a hand signal indicating that everything was okay, Miaree was allowed to leave Marcy's presence gradually. "However, they did not provide any announcements on the midterm exam."
"That's the purpose - they are intending to announce it three days before the midterm exam to test whether or not the students are really listening to the class and to determine whether or not we actually learned something from the instructor. The officers have previously discussed this topic, and their assumption is that this unexpected midterm exam will be one of the conditions for determining whether or not the students will be able to continue participating in the program or whether or not they would be required to transfer.” Marcy spoke in a low voice.
"Before we can move on to the following school year, there will be a test to see if we meet the requirements, right?" Kianna asked.
Marcy answered with a nod. “My recommendation to both of you is that you start reading all of our textbooks as soon as possible so that you are completely prepared when they make the announcement.”
"Thank you so much, Marcy!" Kianna planted a peck on Marcy's left cheek before giving him a hug.
"Girl, if you were to leave, we have no idea what would become of the both of us!" Miaree added.
They were taken aback when they heard footsteps approaching their room. As soon as their instructor entered the room, everyone quickly returned to their seats where they had been sitting.
"Sorry for being late, class. The dean submitted a request for an urgent gathering. Anyway, let's begin with today’s attendance… Ventura?"
"Present!"
"Ishii?"
"Here, Miss!"
"Saavedra?"
"Present, Miss!"
…
“Argh! At long last, the first subject is done!" As they made their way towards the canteen, Miaree voiced her exhaustion by saying something.
"What's up, guys? What do you think about studying together later tonight? I mean, if we study together and help each other out, it shouldn't be too difficult, should it?” Kianna added.
Marcy indicated his assent to what Kianna had to say by nodding his head. "I tell you what, girl, you are absolutely correct! Tonight, how about we study together? I've broken free!”
“Does that imply that we are going to have a sleepover tonight? Oh my God! I’m in!” Miaree exclaimed while giggling and bouncing around with happiness.
"Miaree, I was wondering if it would be possible for us to stay at your place?" Marcy asked.
"Of course! Aside from that, my parents are still away on a business trip, which means that the house is entirely in my control!” Miaree responded.
…
The time flew by so fast. Their class has already come to an end. As they approached the gate, they carried on a conversation about what they needed to bring to Miaree's house later for the overnight they had planned.
“Hon,” Ares' voice immediately catches the attention of Kianna. He ran towards her and smiled at her friends.
"Hi, handsome! Are you going to pick up our little sweetheart, Kianna Myst?" Marcy inquired about Ares while imitating his seductive tone of voice.
Ares responded, "Yes," and then looked at his wife before asking, "Are you ready to go home?" Ares was eager to get back home.
"Of course, charming, Kianna is completely prepared. Kianna, please leave immediately, and don't forget to pick up some adorable pajamas for later, okay?" As Marcy drew Miaree away, he murmured something, and then he left Kianna with her husband, Ares.
Ares turned his head to gaze at Kianna, curious about what Marcy had said to them before they left.
"Right, I'm going to spend the night at Miaree's place," she said. “We are having a sleepover and a review for our upcoming midterm exam.”
“Tonight? But I had planned on taking you out to a nice restaurant tonight..." Ares responded, "We can just do it some other time.” Ares added.
