Chapter 89 Confession
"Ms. Ventura, may I inquire as to the nature of your visit to this establishment? I told you that you are not permitted to come here at schools while the investigation about the cheating issues is still ongoing and has not yet been completed.
Before beginning her statement, Vera took a moment to pause, bow her head, and gather her thoughts. After mustering up the bravery to admit what she had done, she walked over to the dean's office and stood before his desk. The dean is glancing at her, perplexed as to what she was doing and why she is acting in such a manner at this moment.
“Are you okay, Ms. Ventura?”
“Dean… "I am going to come clean about something..." Vera uttered those words in a hushed tone.
“What did you just say? Do you think you could raise your voice a little bit, please, Ms. Ventura? What it is that you are trying to say is completely incomprehensible to me. The question was posed by the dean.
Vera looked down at the area of her shirt where the microphone was being attached. The next thing that came out of her mouth was a long sigh. "I wanted to come clean about the cheating that's been going on... "
The dean cast her gaze downward and narrowed her eyes. Her brows drew together and she looked at Vera with an intense expression on her face. "What do you mean? Confess? Does that imply that you are making the claim that you were actually involved in those rumors about cheating?
"Yes, dean… In point of fact, the entire thing was due to my carelessness. It had been my intention throughout this entire process. I just— I just made up stories to make Ms. Saavedra at fault. I want to place all of the responsibility for what I've done on her shoulders...
"What?! Wait… Permit me to get it firmly established in my mind first. The clarity of everything is extremely lacking. Why are you doing that at this very moment? I don't get it.
"That is exactly why I decided to come here today, dean. I've come to this place to make everything crystal clear for everyone..."
The dean stared at her as though he could not believe what he was seeing. After that, she did something unusual by crossing her arm and taking a deep breath. "Alright. Ms. Ventura, please provide me with any and all relevant information. But this time, I demand that you tell me the whole truth and not some made-up story that you made up yourself. First, I'd like you to take a seat, and then I want you to tell me the honest truth about the situation.
Vera stayed upright throughout the entire conversation. "No, dean… Due to the actions that I have taken, I have earned the right to remain standing here for the entirety of today. Because I was envious of Kianna, I did that thing to her. I apologize if I caused any inconvenience. I lied to her and accused her of cheating on the test that we were taking together."
"You find Ms. Saavedra to be an object of your envy?"
Vera nodded, "Yes dean… Within the engineering division, there is one particular individual whom I find particularly attractive. Since the first time I laid eyes on him, I could not help but feel a strong attraction to him. I tried everything I could to get his attention, but he still didn't pay me any attention at all..."
"Who exactly is that individual to whom you are referring?" This question was posed by the dean in an inquisitive tone.
"It is… It is I, the Dean, Nathan Zac Ramirez..."
"Alright. I take it you just told me that you have a thing for Nathan Zac Ramirez, who works in the civil engineering department, right?
"Ye–yes, dean…" Vera said shyly.
"There's no need to be so reserved. There is nothing inappropriate about developing feelings for another person, but do you know what is improper? Is when you did something bad simply because you were obsessed with that person who doesn't even give you any attention, Ms. Ventura."
Vera is at a loss for words and unable to respond appropriately. She dipped her chin and fiddled with her fingernails in a distracted manner.
"Alright. Continue, Ms. Ventura…" The Dean of Students instructed her to proceed with her studies.
"Do you still remember the issue with Ms. Saavedra and Mr. Ramirez, dean?" Vera asked.
The problem is that they were seeing each other, right? Absolutely, and what do you think about that?
"Right at that moment is when everything got underway. At that precise moment, I experienced a wave of extremely strong resentment and envy. It makes me angry to see them together and to hear rumors about how they are getting along. I tried a lot of different things in the hopes that he would finally take notice of me, but he never even bothered to read my letters to him or acknowledge that he had received them. I witnessed him throwing it away in the garbage can, and that infuriated me very much toward Kianna."
What exactly did she do to make you so angry, Ms. Saavedra? On the other hand, she did not harm you in any way.
"No. It was her decision that led to this. Because of her presence, Nathan was unable to notice me, and she bears some responsibility for this oversight. She was successful in attracting his attention on multiple occasions. And because of that, Nathan's feelings for her went completely insane... When Nathan was trying to defend her in front of everyone else, I took notice of it. He even defends her to his own fans… It is impossible for me to believe that she will also develop romantic feelings for Kianna. At that point, I began to recognize Kianna as a rival in every aspect of our relationship. Even when we were in school together, she was the one who was picked to be the muse, despite the fact that I was much more attractive than she was. In addition to that, I have competed in a number of pageants throughout my life. Why did they continue to go with her instead of me?
"Ms. Ventura… You are aware that Kianna does not play any role in the way that your life revolves around you, right? She is not connected to any of the issues that you are having in any way. She was nothing more than a regular student going about her business while also making an effort to improve her academic performance.
"However, as a direct result of her actions, I am now left with nothing..."
"It is because you are too focused on competing with her even though there was no competition between the two of you, whereas Ms. Saavedra is focused on her own thing and doesn't mind anyone else around her. In addition to that, Ms. Ventura, you are responsible for completing this task. The dean of the university gave her some advice. Vera is at a loss for words because all of the information that the dean presented caught her by surprise. "At this point, are you able to provide me with every relevant detail regarding the cheating issue?"
Vera gave a slight nod as she made an effort to conceal her discomfort before continuing, "I didn't hire a hacker... Everything was an elaborate fabrication. In point of fact, I do not even have a copy of the test in my possession. I just made it up. And accused Kianna of engaging in unethical behavior by cheating. I noticed that she has been getting a lot of praise for her outstanding performance, and I interpreted that as a chance to bring her reputation into disrepute. I made up a story together with my friends that Kianna cheated on the midterm exam and we spread it everywhere on the internet…"
"Why did you do that?"
"I want her to get kicked out or expelled from this university. I will do everything just to make her leave this university because I thought if she will be gone from this university then I would have a chance with Nathan Zac Ramirez. Maybe he will be able to see me if she is gone but then after thinking about it for so long, I realized that it was wrong. Dean… Kianna Myst Saavedra is innocent and she didn't cheat on the midterm exam. She deserves all the recognition that she received. I am sorry for what I did… I am ready for every consequence of my actions…"
"Very well said, Ms. Ventura… Let me think about it first…"
