#258 - Chapter 258 Students Full of Confidence
On Friday afternoon, students rushed into the hall after their last class, eagerly squeezing around the long tables to devour their dinner.
They were impatient to attend tonight's Duelling Club because Professor Swan would be bringing a Dementor for them to practice against.
Ron stuffed food into his mouth, muttering, "Hurry up, Harry, I can't wait to go and beat up a Dementor!"
"When the Dementors made you faint, they certainly didn't expect that in just two months, we'd have the power to take revenge on them."
"This is what you call karma!"
He spoke animatedly, as if he could already see himself heroically repelling a Dementor.
Hermione, however, was much more cautious. She took a sip of pumpkin juice and frowned, reminding him, "Ron, don't be too careless."
"I read in a book that even if you can usually cast a Patronus, you might still fail out of fear when you actually face a Dementor. You have to be careful."
As soon as she finished speaking, Fred and George appeared behind Ron like ghosts.
Fred slapped Ron on his left shoulder: "Hey, Ronnie, don't get cocky."
George put his arm around Ron's right shoulder: "You might end up crying, and that would be so embarrassing!"
Ron was startled by their double assault.
Cry?
What a joke!
He glared at them, annoyed, shaking off their hands and grumbling.
"How many times have I told you not to call me that name?"
"My Patronus Charm isn't just for show. You just wait and see my Jack Russell Terrier in action."
Saying this, Ron glanced at Fred and George, a smug smile on his face.
"You two be careful. Your Patronuses are just a couple of magpies. Don't get swatted away by a Dementor."
Harry's eyes narrowed with laughter. He was used to the bickering between the three brothers and always found it amusing.
After a quick dinner, the students flocked to the duelling arena in groups.
Those who had already produced corporeal Patronuses walked with their heads held high, noses in the air, as they entered the arena.
As eight o'clock approached, the professors appeared in the duelling arena on time.
Sebastian wasted no time and cleared one corner of the arena.
Then, he cast a Sonorus Charm on himself, and his loud voice instantly filled the entire arena.
"Students who can cast a corporeal Patronus, gather here."
Soon, all the young wizards who could do so quickly assembled in front of Sebastian.
"It's very impressive that you've been able to produce a corporeal Patronus in such a short time, just two months."
Sebastian surveyed the eager students, a hint of praise in his tone.
"The purpose of today is to practice your real combat abilities, ensuring that you can still successfully cast the Patronus Charm when facing a real Dementor."
With that, he took the special alchemical bag, walked to the corner, and released the Dementor.
After Sebastian's training, this Dementor knew how to cooperate with his teaching.
So, after coming out of the bag, it didn't wander around or emit a terrifying sense of oppression, but floated quietly in the corner, without the slightest movement under its black cloak.
It didn't dare to emit a single extra breath, looking every bit like a professional teaching tool.
Before seeing the Dementor, the young wizards had been somewhat apprehensive, after all, the Dementor's terrifying image was deeply ingrained in their minds.
However, the Dementor in front of them looked malnourished, which boosted the young wizards' confidence, and they burst into laughter.
"Is that it? This Dementor looks so weak, completely different from the ones outside the school gates."
"I'm incredibly strong now. I could take on ten of these Dementors!"
"Professor, can you get a stronger one for us to practice with?"
Sebastian put on the translation earpiece and smiled slightly at the students.
"Very good, you're all very spirited!"
"Who wants to be the first to challenge the Dementor?"
Hearing this, the young wizards all raised their hands.
"Pick me!"
"Me, let me go!"
"Professor, look here, look here!"
Sebastian looked around and beckoned to Percy: "Percy, you go first, give everyone a demonstration."
"Ah, letting Percy go, that's too much of a bully for the Dementor."
"He won't kill the Dementor, will he?!"
"I suddenly feel a little sorry for this Dementor, what's going on."
Amidst the students' jeering, Ron said to his friends, "Letting Percy deal with such a weak Dementor is a waste of talent, might as well let me go!"
Malfoy glanced at Ron and said, "Compared to you, your brother is indeed much more outstanding."
"However, you have a point. The professor is indeed underestimating us. He should catch a few stronger Dementors for us to practice with."
Percy walked out of the crowd, stood one meter away from the Dementor, then took out his wand and prepared himself.
Sebastian waved his hand to quiet the students.
"3 — 2 — 1, challenge start!"
Instantly, Percy raised his wand and shouted at the Dementor: "Expecto Patronum!"
Before the words were finished, Percy felt a chill.
So cold!
He felt his happy emotions rapidly draining away. This feeling was extremely strong, making it impossible for him to concentrate.
Damn it!
The Patronus Charm failed. How could the Dementor be so terrifying? His mind was full of negative emotions.
Percy waved his wand again, using all his strength to cast the Patronus Charm.
As a result, there was still no reaction at the tip of the wand, only a flash of silver light, without any sign of a Patronus being released.
Frustration and despair crept into Percy's heart, making him feel like he had lost hope in life.
His face became paler and paler, and the hand holding the wand began to tremble.
Seeing this, Sebastian stepped in to stop the Dementor and announced the challenge a failure.
He took out a chocolate bar and handed it to Percy: "Eat some chocolate and rest, it will help your condition."
The Dementor floated obediently in the corner, thinking happily.
The companions outside are too stupid, actually giving me such a good job.
I thought I would be tortured by a Patronus, but I didn't expect to be so happy.
I don't have to do anything, I can just eat delicious food in the open.
So fresh, so delicious!
But not full.
Hungry!
