“Whatever you want to say, I will accept it.” Odino said.
“Let me give you an answer by evening.” Nancy told Odino.
“It is ok, take your time.” Odino said.

Nancy had no idea how to handle Odino’s request. She even thought the best thing was to consult with her friend and close confidant, Daisy about the whole thing.
At Nancy’s proposal, Daisy went to have supper at Nancy’s place. Nancy prepared the meals.
“MY friend, I have this proposal from a man, he wants me to be accompanying him wherever he goes and he will be paying me. I have no idea what it entails and how to go about it.” Nancy began by telling Daisy.
“Hmm, tell me more…” Daisy said while looking at Nancy.
“He just told me so, he wants me to be going with him all over where he goes and he will be paying me.” Nancy said.
“Terms?” Daisy asked.
“I have no idea.” Nancy replied.
“What I will tell you might not be what you want to hear.” Daisy said.
“Go on, it is why I asked you.” Nancy said.
“The man only wants you to be like a flower girl. He will go with you around, brag with you, do shit with you and fuck you at evening. It pays since some of the socialites I know do that with high flying personalities but…” Daisy paused.
“But what?” Nancy asked.
“Some girls try that and disappear without a trace.” Daisy said.
“Oh! my God! You are scaring me now.” Nancy said.
“That is the truth of this job with escorts. You never know who you are going with and it has its own risks. More so with private escorts like you are about to be.” Daisy told Nancy.
“Are you for real?” Nancy asked.
“Do you remember a girl we used to call Kary, that Kikuyu girl from Kiambu? She came to Mtwapa, got a man who wanted an escort to go with her to Wasini Island among other places for a tour. From that day, she has never been seen and the man disappeared too. I hear later the man was seen in Diani but I don’t know but the girl has never been traced. All efforts to trace her hit a dead end.” Daisy said.
“Where was the man from?” Nancy asked.
“From Germany. But that does not mean our African men are so good either. Any man can do that, beware of men.
If you want to get men, do it within where you are safe. Going with a total stranger overnight to me is a big no. I will never attempt that, more so visiting places I have never been.” Daisy said.
“You are scaring me now.” Nancy said, “I cannot imagine dying and leaving my young daughter here with no one to take care of.”
“Then you better be careful, look at you now, you lack nothing. Don’t get so tempted to having so much. Be content with the little you have.” Daisy said.
Nancy remained silent thinking of everything that could go wrong.
“Ok, I will not go.” Nancy said.
“Don’t say I discouraged you, I only told you as a friend.” Daisy said.
“Ok, I get you.” Nancy said, “Thank you, what are friends for?”

The following morning, when Nancy got a call from Odino, she hesitated taking it. She however received it when he persisted.
“You did not give me some feedback yesterday.” Odino said.
“I sent a text.” Nancy lied.
“I never got it.” Odino said.
“I will be unable to accompany you. Something has come up from my side.” Nancy said.
“Oh! what now?” Odino asked.
“My young girl got malaria and I took her to hospital. She is sick and I cannot leave her alone.” Nancy said.
“Oh! I am so sorry. Is she admitted?” Odino asked.
“No, just at home and I am staying with her for a few days to see how she improves.” Nancy said.
“Ok, I am so sorry about it. She will be ok. Then if unable to make it, it is ok, I understand.” Odino said.
“Sorry too, I did not wish to let you down but I am in some fix.” Nancy said.
“Too bad I won’t have someone to go around with me.” Odino said.
“Good day, I would have wished to but won’t be able to.” Nancy said.
“Good day too.” Odino replied and terminated the call.
Nancy spent the rest of the day in the house doing some cleaning. She was not willing to call someone to clean the house for her. She was feeling energetic and took it as exercises to also do her own work. She however wasnot sure if she made the right decision to let go Odino’s offer. She kept thinking of all the places they would probably have gone, the money she would have gotten. She asked herself questions like: what if he was genuine? What if he was a killer and go to do me harm?
Nancy knew no girl in particular who had disappeared after going out with a man. She however had no reasons to doubt Daisy.
Nancy even kept thinking: Odino seemed like a completely honest man.

Fast forward one week later, reports reached Nancy that a girl who was working as a call girl in Mtwapa had been found murdered in a hotel in Malindi. Upon inquiring from close friends, Nancy got the most shocking discovery.
The girl was last seen with a man whose description fitted that of Odino. They were last seen around Mtwapa at a supermarket doing some shopping before they boarded a car and headed away from Mtwapa towards Kilifi.
Her gruesome murder according to eye witnesses were she had a broken bottle of beer pushed into her vagina. Her breasts had been pierced with broken glasses and her tongue had been cut out. At the hotel was a note written:
YOU SOLD YOURSELF TO ME, I HAD TO DO WHAT I COULD FOR THE VALUE OF MY MONEY.
The police were said to be pursuing the killer who was still at large.
As Nancy listened to the whole tale, and read some of it at a newspaper, she began thinking: this could have been me if I did not listen to Daisy!
