Chapter 21 Saying Goodbye
Draco POV
She is gone. My sister is dead. She is dead because a piece of shit Alpha had to crawl between her legs and get her pregnant. He knew the risk. He knew what it would do to her, but the thought that maybe she would survive with a tribrid for him to sell was probably his motivation. I will kill him.
He sold her pregnant to be abused and drugged by wolves. Suppose I could have gotten to her sooner. No, I cannot do this to myself. I cannot let the unanswered riddle my brain. I want to know why he sold her. I want to know if he knew she was pregnant. I want him to pay for everything he did to her.
I will go to the wolf work camp. I will pull him out of there, and I will have his head. The wolves there that follow him, I will have their heads too.
I sit in the bedroom, looking into the bathroom where she is lying. I have to prepare her for her funeral. I have to call my parents. Then, I will have my vengeance for her. Your ass is mine, Alpha.
There is a soft knock on the door. I do not say anything. I wait. I do not feel like talking to anyone. The door opens. Angela comes into the room. She walks over to me. She is worried about me; I can see it in her eyes.
"Do not ask me if I am okay. I am not okay. I am pissed off," I say to her as she gets closer to me.
Angela sits down beside me. "She made me promise to look out for you and to stay here and help you," Angela says.
"You can leave. Aspen can leave. I will be fine," I say.
"No, you will not. I can see it all over your face. I already talked to Aspen, and we are staying here with you for a while," Angela says.
Damn, Angela. She always has to get right in the middle of everything. She never takes no for an answer. I have to admit I want her to stay. She is the closest thing I have to a sister, with Deanne gone from my life.
"I have to call my parents," I say to her.
"I can do that for you if you like," Angela says.
"No, I need to be the one to call them, but what you can do is help Tia when her family gets here. I cannot deal with their grief and my grief, too," I say.
"I will do whatever you need from me," Angela says.
Angela kisses me on the forehead. "I am going to kill him. The Alpha. I am going to rip his fucking head off and his damn wolves. I am going to kill them all," I say.
"I already know that. I am going to help you," Angela says.
Angela leaves me with my thoughts. I have to get Deanne out of the tub and dress her before I call my parents. I get off the bed. I do not have time to feel sorry for myself. It is time to find the courage and do what I have to do for my sister.
I go into the bathroom. There she lies—my beautiful sweet, annoying sister. We have always been so close, practically joined at the hip. Angela, damn, I did not think about her feelings in all of this. She is one of us, like a sister. She was raised with us and taken in by my family. Yet, she is concerned for me and how I feel.
I lay a towel on the floor. I carefully pick Deanne up out of the tub and lay her on the towel. I begin drying her body. She is still warm. Death by wolf pregnancy. It happens too often amongst the fairy/ vampire hybrids. The wolves just will not stop trying to breed with the hybrids. They want that unique child with the special abilities.
I hate the wolves, and I want to kill them all. My hatred is burning inside me for vengeance for Deanne. I want to cause that Alpha so much pain he begs for death. I want to torture him and then kill him. I stop drying Deanne and sit down beside her. I cry I sob, and then I scream! WHY!! WHY!! WHY DEANNE!!
I pull myself together and begin drying her body again. I have to dress her before my parents come. I still have to call them. I do not know what to say to them. I hear footsteps in the bedroom. I look up to see Angela. She came back to help.
"I did not want you to do this alone," Angela says.
"What about Tia?" I ask her.
"Aspen is helping her," Angela answers me.
I wrap Deanne in a towel, and I carry her body to the bedroom. I have to dress her. "Angela, can you call my parents for me?" I ask her.
Angela shakes her head. "I love the both of you. You and Deanne have always been my family. I will not let you avenge her alone, Draco. I will go back into the wolf work camp with you, and I will help you kill them all," Angela says.
I grab Angela and hug her. "Little sister, yes, you have always been one of us. I cannot let you go into that camp. If the Alpha gets his hands on you, he will kill you or worse," I say to her.
"I do not remember asking your permission to go with you, Draco. I am going," Angela says.
"You never listen to anyone, do you," I say to her.
"Nope, and I am not going to start today," Angela says.
I go into the closet to find something for Deanne to wear. "I will be back after I call your parents. Put something pink on her. She loved pink," Angela says.
"You are right. I know she loved pink," I say.
Angela leave me alone with Deanne. I can hear the cries of Tia's family coming from down the hall. I wanted to be there for them, but I cannot. I have to take care of my sister. I know Tia understands.
I take a pink dress out of the closet. I smile for a moment. I think about her pink prom dress and her pink shoes. I think Deanne was born loving pink. A pink bicycle, pink purses, pink, pink, pink. She loved pink— that ugly pink steering wheel in her first car.
I take the pink dress over to the bed. I will bury you in pink. You will have a pink coffin and pink flowers, my dear sweet sister. When I am done honoring your memory, I will kill the wolves who harmed you. I promise you that.
As I finish dressing Deanne, Angela returns. It took her a while. Actually longer than I expected. "I am sorry. Your mom was distraught. Of course, she was; I mean, she just lost her daughter, Draco. I was trying to hurry back to you, but she was so upset, and then I talked to your dad. He is bringing your mother. They will be here within the hour," Angela says.
"Good, I have her dressed," I say.
"I will do her hair and makeup if you want to make other arrangements for her," Angela says.
I nod. I cannot do Deanne's hair or makeup. Thankfully, Angela is here to handle this part for me. "Thank you," I say softly.
"Tia did not go with her family. She stayed behind," Angela says.
"Wait, why?" I ask.
"Why do you think? To kill some wolves, of course. To help the vampire that saved her life and got her and her sister out of a breeding box. She stayed to help you, Draco. We are all here for you," Angela says.
Hmmm. How about that? I have a little army to help me avenge Deanne.
