Chapter 25 Aspen
Draco POV
Angela rushes to Aspen. "Aspen!" she screams. She throws her body over him.
"I am okay; it just stings like a bitch!" Aspen moans.
I walk over with Tia. "Where the fuck were you?" I ask him.
"Really, Draco, I am in pain, and you are going to question me now," Aspen snaps at me.
"Yeah, just in case we need to reshoot you," I say.
"I am so sorry, love," Angela says to him.
"I am fine; just get me out of here," Aspen says.
"First, I want to know where you were," I ask him.
I see more eyes coming from the woods where Aspen came running to us, "I heard screaming. I released them," Aspen says.
Hundreds of women are coming out of the woods. All filthy, skinny, and terrified. I pat Aspen on the shoulder hard. "Good job," I say.
Jeb and his vampires join us at the Alpha's cabin. "Can you get Calamity Jane and her wolf back to the house for me?" I ask Jeb.
"Yes, not a problem. I will take them in your car and leave the van," Jeb says.
Jeb instructs his vampires to carry Aspen. As he walks past me, I grab his upper arm. "Make sure you get that gun back. I do not want her shooting me," I say.
Jeb laughs. "Now, that would be hilarious. Angela certainly knows how to party," Jeb says. That is one odd man. I like him, but damn he is strange.
Tia is talking with the women. She talks with them for a while, and I watch the cabin burn. She finally returns to me. "Hey, I have an idea," she says.
"I am listening," I say.
"Why can't we use this place?" she asks.
I furrow my brow in confusion. "What do you mean?" I ask her.
"I mean, we have all these cabins. This place is far away from town, but close enough to you. Jeb could let some vampires stay for security. We could use this place to help them rebuild their life. Draco, it would give me a purpose," Tia says.
Tia's light is back. She smiles; she shines in the thought of helping others. "What about Craig?" I ask her.
"I saw what hate did to Angela. I do not want that for myself. I want to let go and be free. I want to help the ones like me, and I hope Angela will find her peace too," Tia says.
"I am sure Jeb would agree to help. I can fund anything you need," I say to her.
Tia throws her arms around me. "Draco, if you ever run across Craig, kill him for me, for Fia, but do not hunt him. I am letting all of this go," Tia says.
I kiss her on the forehead. "Good for you, sister. I will be close by," I say to her.
I walk away from Tia and the cabins. I walk back to the van with a few of the vampires. Several stayed to help Tia. I feel peace for her, for myself, and for Deanne.
Good job, brother. I hear Deanne's word in my head. Her voice is a calming moment for me. I drive back to the house to check on Aspen and Angela. I cannot believe she shot him. I shake my head at the thought of it.
I pull into the driveway. I hurry into the house to give Aspen hell. Aspen and Angela are waiting for me in the front room of the house. "Well, you look better," I say to Aspen.
"She gave me vampire blood. Jeb said it would heal me, and it did," Aspen says.
Angela rushes to me. She wraps her arms around me. "It is time, Draco. We are leaving. I cannot do this. I have to let go," Angela says.
"I know, I want you to go, but I want you to call. I want to know you are okay," I say to her.
Angela looks back at Aspen. "I think I will be fine, but where is Tia?" Angela asks.
We sit down on the couch, and I explain to her Tia's plan. Angela and Aspen both love the idea of turning the wolf work camp into a place to rebuild people that escape the auction.
In the morning sun, the two of them take my car and leave to start their life. I am happy for them. I am so glad for Tia. Now to do what makes me happy and fuels my existence.
I take my computer out and log into the auction site. Hybrids are being auctioned tonight, and it is up to me to rescue them. At least now I have Tia to help me. I will stop this one auction at a time.
