Chapter 29
THE NEXT FEW DAYS, things returned to normal between David and Dawn.
Dawn's anxiety over the prospect of carrying her child seemed to have diminished and the same applied to David. Finding out that he had a child may have been a novelty to him but he adapted quickly and got familiar with the newness of his unstable life routine.
During the day, he threw himself into his work and spent time with his son, and at night, he worked just as hard at pleasing Dawn because pleasuring her sexually was always his favorite part of the night.
***
ON FRIDAY MORNING,Dawn stepped into the bathroom and sighed as she pulled her dress over her head and dropped it onto the cold tiles. She'd flicked her hair over her right shoulder in an attempt to weave it but paused when something caught her eye.
She glanced into the mirror, moved closer, and angled her head to get a better glimpse at the dark red mark on the junction of her neck and shoulder.
It was David's mark.
A gentle red hue dusted across her cheeks as she went over it with her fingertips. He'd given it to her when they made love last night. It hurt like hell and it bled a little, but she didn't care. As cheesy as it may sound, It was a loving gesture, claiming her as his mate for eternity.
When she entered the bathtub and turned on the shower, her cheeks grew even redder because as the water cascaded down her body, she couldn't help but reminisce on how he had inexorably touched her.
It was shocking how he managed to salvage feelings she didn't think possible and she wasn't quite sure if it was her pregnancy hormones but last night was definitely one of the greatest nights of her life.
Ah, yes, she was pregnant and yet to realize the fact that day by day, it was going to get harder to conceal especially when the constant morning sickness and periodic fever proved difficult.
Concluding with her morning toilette, she wrapped a towel around her body and walked out, greeted by the sight of David sitting on their bed with his back against the headboard, and book in his hand.
She leaned against the doorframe and watched him closely and it was clear to see that whatever he was reading had all his focus and attention.
With a soft sigh, David flipped the page.

'It's been a few months now since my world scrambled into the gutters and somehow no matter how hard I strive, I can never seem to get back my life.
I'm pregnant and alone...'

'I so much wish I could hurt him the way he hurt me but I know that if I had the chance I wouldn't do it.
He broke me but somehow I still love him with all the little pieces. He ruined me but I still wish for him. When the nights are cold I yearn for his warmth. When I'm left alone I crave for his company, to see him smile, to see him laugh like he always did'

'It's been quite a while since I picked up a pen.
Nothing seems to fit right in my life anymore and I've been so afraid of my own thoughts, afraid that I might betray myself with these feelings.
Why do I still harbor such disgusting emotions? Why does he still cloud my memory and fog my thoughts?
Sometimes I still wonder why he did it, Why he left, but then I realize that in the end...
I was just another promise you couldn't keep.'
"Must be good to have you so focused. What's the name?" Dawn asked and David almost jumped, not realizing when she walked and stood by him.
He locked the journal and pushed it to the side.
"Doesn't have a name, it's just something to help with the nightmares I've been having a lot these days"
"Nightmare you say?" Her head tilted slightly. She looked unconvinced. "Does it perhaps have anything to do with Stacey?"
"Stacey?" He gaped with surprise, staring at her like she had just grown a second head.
She nodded. "Yeah, Stacey, the name you keep calling in your sleep"
He pressed his lips together but spoke soon after. "It must be from a horror movie I watched. There's no Stacey babe"
She folded her arms, pausing for a few seconds to see if he would say more, or say something more believing but when he did nothing but stare at her, she continued. "I doubt a movie can make you call out someone's name during sex"
"I did that?" He sputtered.
"Well one of us did" her lips thinned slightly, a sure sign that she was disgruntled.
He sighed. "I'm sorry honey. It won't happen ever again. I'm just really stressed. You're the only woman I love and nothing will change that"
"Just don't let this happen again" she scolded.
"It won't ever" he smiled and tugged her hand until she tumbled against him.
"David!" She yelped in surprise, holding her towel firm against her chest.
David shrugged and pulled her close. He nuzzled her neck. "You smell nice"
She squirmed slightly, narrowing her eyes to the side. "That's because I just took a shower"
"Not that" he buried his head in the crook of her neck, causing his words to muffle. "It's different" he nibbled on her skin and she bit her bottom lip.
"David stop" she demanded and when she tried squirming away from his grasp, he grabbed her and pulled her close, letting her towel drop in the process.
"Hmm" was all he said as his hands moved to the front of her body and as soon as they came in contact with the tender skin of her bare breast, she released a low but sharp gasp.
"David..." She groaned and moaned. Her resolve was breaking.
"You know, now that I think about it, your boobs do look a little bigger" he ran his hand along the side of her breast, cupping gently and feeling the exquisite weight of her in his fingers. "they feel bigger too"
"Now is not the time David" she prompted but her body language said otherwise. He ignored her protest and moved his hand, her nipples sliding between his fingers as he squeezed gently.
"32E" he squeezed tighter, forcing her to groan "or is it 34DD?"
"I don't know. Let me go" she protested but he showed no sign of leaving her soon.
He trailed kisses from her spine to her neck, holding her firm with one hand and rolling her nipple in between his fingers with the other, and when he noticed her body slowly rocking against his, his mouth curved into a teasing smile.
He moved closer and brushed his tongue through the linings of her ears."Let's go at it real quick"
"David!" She shuddered, astounded by his rather pointed choice of words.
He pinched her nipples hard and she hissed sharply.
"I'm not asking" he gruffed, pulling her up and tossing her on the bed.
"It's too early for this David" she bellowed, ignoring the cry of her already aching parts.
David kissed her, his kisses were like black holes, it pulled her in until all gravity was lost under his touch.
"Well you started it" he whispered, nibbling on her bottom lip, " looking sexy this early morning" he brought his lips to her neck, "Walking into the room wet and naked" he moved down, trailing wet kisses over her shoulders and chest. "And expecting me not to react" when his lips came to touch the tip of her nipple, he paused and Dawn moaned in frustration. "You caused this" he took her nipple into his mouth, running his tongue around before sucking and Dawn nearly shrieked.
"David..." Her words trailed off and she found herself sinking into him, caught between an array of feelings as she tried to regain sense in his arms but it was to no avail.
David suckled on her, switching between nipples and making sure to pleasure each.
It was breathtaking — the sound his sloppy tongue made, her wanton moans and squirming — he was ready, hard, and needy.
Dawn arched forward and dimmed her eyes. Before she could process what was happening, he popped his mouth away from her nipple and slithered down, parting her legs wide so that he settled between them perfectly.
He kissed her again, squeezing her thighs and rocking slowly against her warm sex. If he didn't have his boxer briefs on, it would have been skin-to-skin, his erection against her opening. He wanted that and had already reached to free himself but, Suddenly, his phone rang, shifting his focus for a moment.
Dawn opened her eyes, finally able to regain a decent amount of her sanity back. "You should get that" she urged but he shook his head.
"Ignore it"
"It might be important" her voice sounded vaguely alarmed.
"I don't care"
"David" she brooded.
He rolled his eyes."Fine" he gruffed, annoyance clear in his expression as he pulled himself away from her and rolled to the other end of the bed where he reached for his phone and picked without caring to look at the caller ID tag.
"Hello?" He bit.
"Mr. Argent, we need you at the hospital as soon as you can"
He pulled the phone away from his ear and looked at the ID, it was from the hospital. He groaned.
"What's so important that it couldn't wait till i—"
"Your son is having a seizure and we're afraid he might not make it"
His eyes widened and his breath shook.
"A sei — I'll, I'll be right there" he ended the call immediately and jerked out of bed, his heart suddenly racing and pounding hard against his chest.
"Who was that?" Dawn asked, watching as he scampered around the room in search of his clothes.
"A client, I'm sorry but I have to leave now" he tossed a shirt over his head.
"Not even gonna shower?"
"It's pretty urgent. Toss me my keys please"
"What's so urgent?" she frowned, throwing the keys over to him.
"I'll explain when I get back okay" he hurried over to her side and kissed her head before running towards the door.
"You forgot your pants!"
"Fuck!" He ran back in and picked up his hockey jeans, almost tripping as he forced his legs into it and Dawn chuckled at his clumsiness.
"We will continue with this when I get back okay, so just you wait. I love you!" He dashed out, his footsteps echoing as he ran down the stairs and out of the house.
Dawn shook her head lightly and propped herself to rest on the headboard. She pulled the covers up and in that process, coincidentally drew out the pink-colored journal of which David had hidden under his pillow and for a second, she wondered the contents it held.
Her hand stretched out and she almost reached for it but then, she stopped.
