Chapter 12“ three hero”
In just a few minutes of class, Nox already tried to escape.
But Scarlet’s sharp eyes pinned him from the left.
Liora’s timid eyes watched him from the right.
‘Great. One pair of eyes wasn’t enough—now I’ve got two guardians. Perfect.
He sank deeper into his seat.’
Footsteps echoed at the entrance.
Professor Eldric Thornveil appeared.
He looked about twenty-eight, but with elves… true age was a mystery.
His long, pointed ears alone told the whole story.
Hair: salt-and-pepper, loosely tied back.
Eyes: golden amber—calm, yet piercing enough to slice through a person’s thoughts.
‘Elves can’t leave the World Tree normally.
If he’s here… he must be an outcast who chose freedom.
Last time I saw an elf was… when Mother left,’ Nox thought quietly.
Around the room, students whispered.
“That’s the elf professor…”
“He’s scary…”
“He looks so cool…”
“I heard he can read minds—don’t look into his eyes!”
Scarlet whispered without turning her head,
“Sir Nox, sit properly. He’s already looking in our direction.”
Nox stiffened.
Beside him, Liora sat up straight like a soldier—but her trembling hand clung to his sleeve.
Even students far away looked uncomfortable.
The heavy wave of the professor’s mana pressed down on everyone.
Nox let out a breath.
‘Elf mana… strong as always it's happened if they didn't stay in world tree shadows.’
Professor Eldric finally spoke, voice soothing and calm.
“Students, I know you are worried. Don’t fret—the mana will fade soon.”
Within seconds, the suffocating pressure vanished.
“Now,” he continued, “I am teaching you History and Monsterology.
Most of my lectures are joint lectures, so we often have third-year students joining.”
His gaze swept across the hall.
“Let’s begin. Past, present, and future—they work together, inseparable.”
Silence filled the room as everyone relaxed.
Professor Eldric clasped his hands behind his back.
“But before we start today’s lesson, let me test how much you know about the present time.
Can anyone tell me what is happening in the capital?”
Students stiffened immediately.
Whispers spread.
Scarlet and Sisbell straightened.
Everyone avoided eye contact—except one.
A girl with brown hair raised her hand.
The students whispered, “Second Princess Ophelia…”
Ophelia stood gracefully.
“Currently, there are three factions in the capital,” she began.
“Royal Faction, Noble Faction, and Outcast Faction.
His Majesty the Emperor and the First Prince are not in the capital—they have gone to the northern border.
So the Empress is currently handling most affairs.”
Her voice sharpened.
“And recently, there was a drug incident linked to the Noble Faction.”
Scarlet flinched.
The last line was clearly aimed to provoke her.
Nox glanced at Ophelia. Her gaze swept over him… then Scarlet… before she sat down.
Ophelia Arden vin Nosterio, second princess.
Every rumor says she hates Scarlet… or maybe she’s jealous.
But the real reason? No idea, he thought.
Professor Eldric nodded.
“Good. Now, can anyone explain the three factions?”
Before Ophelia could raise her hand again—
Scarlet’s hand shot up.
“Yes, Lady Scarlet?” Eldric said.
Scarlet stood gracefully.
“As Her Highness said, there are three major factions.
First, the Outcast Faction, supported by the Church of the God of Time.
Most of their followers are commoners and those from the slums seeking influence in the capital.”
“Second, the Noble Faction—formed by merchant families and newer nobles who support the capital with business and management.
They try to stay neutral.”
“And lastly, the Royal Faction, created by the First Prince and backed by old nobles pursuing the throne.
There are rumors that he seeks support from nobles of neighboring kingdoms as well.”
Ophelia’s expression twisted in irritation.
Professor Eldric’s smile widened slightly.
“Very good. It seems some of you know the basics.”
He clapped once.
“Now, let us begin with something simple. Old folk stories.
Everyone has heard at least one.”
Students immediately erupted—
“Dragon tales!”
“The First Mage!”
“The Three Goddesses!”
Professor Eldric lifted a hand.
“Calm down, calm down.
Let’s start with the story of the Three Heroes.
It will help you understand the origins of our current world.”
Prof. Eldric Thornveil lifted his hand gently, and the classroom—which had been buzzing with whispers—fell into calm silence.
With a soft snap, shimmering lines of mana formed behind him, creating moving drawings across the board. The students gasped.
He tilted his head. “Ah, this is just my magic. And for the record—” his golden eyes swept across the room, “—I do not read minds.”
The room burst into small laughter. Even Nox smirked.
Prof. Eldric Thornveil cleared his throat.
“Six hundred years ago, before our kingdoms took the shape you recognize today… the Three Gods created this world—Nosterio, and the nations around it.”
The drawings shifted—humans, elves, dwarves, dragons, beastmen, demons, sirens, vampires—each figure moving as if alive.
“They created countless races. For one hundred and twenty years, all lived in peace.
Until… they arrived.”
His finger pointed at nine descending pillars of light.
“The 9 Hell.”
The temperature in the room seemed to drop.
“No one knows where they came from. Their clothing, their magic, their language—nothing matched our world. They searched for something… and in their way, they brought devastation.”
Nox leaned back in his seat, eyes half-open. ‘Strange… their clothes and magic sound like something from another world…, like? Moon family also doesn't have any idea ’
He shook the thought off.
Prof. Eldric continued.
“When the world had no magic, they wielded it. When races barely understood mana, they turned it into destruction.”
The drawings shifted again.
“At the height of despair, the Three Gods created three Heroes.”
A dragon-shaped figure, a hooded mage, and a silhouette with no features appeared.
“Dragon King,
First Mage,
and the Unknown Hero.”
The classroom fell silent.
“They fought for two hundred years, sealing all Nine Hell at the cost of unimaginable sacrifice.”
The Unknown Hero’s silhouette dimmed until nothing remained.
“After the war ended… the world began anew.
The Dragon King created Nosterio and passed his blood to the royal family.
The First Mage built the six magic towers.
But the Unknown Hero…”
He paused.
“No one knows their name, race, gender—nothing. Only that the greatest sacrifice belonged to the one who disappeared after the sealing.”
The magic vanished, leaving the chalkboard clean.
“That is the tale. Any questions?”
---
A hand shot up.
“Professor… I heard the Dragon King was female. Why do they call him king?”
Prof. Eldric chuckled.
“Dragons change their gender at will. During the war, he fought as male. Later, when creating heirs, he turned female. Royal family history is… complicated.”
Another hand rose—Scarlet
“Sir… is there really no bloodline of the Unknown Hero?”
Nox froze.
Prof. Eldric’s eyes narrowed thoughtfully.
“In my 300 years of life, I have heard no such thing. Perhaps some races know more, but officially… no bloodline exists.”
Scarlet lowered her head, thinking deeply.
Then Ophelia Arden vin Nosterio, the second princess, raised her hand with a faint, elegant smile.
“I heard the First Mage was an elf.”
Prof. Eldric nodded.
“Yes, Princess. The First Mage was indeed an elf. He introduced magic to this world.but still he is dead only his belongings stay in magic tower”
More students began raising their hands. Questions flew from every corner as the professor answered calmly.
Meanwhile…
Nox and Alber were asleep.
Scarlet and Sisbell each raised a fist—bonk!—hitting both boys on the head.
“Wake up, you idiots!” Sisbell hissed.
Scarle
t scolded, “Sir Nox, it’s not bedtime!”
“Ugh… just let me sleep…” Nox groaned, rubbing his skull.
“Same here… boring…” Alber mumbled.
Liora, however, sat with shining eyes, listening to every detail as if the world depended on it.
