So they calmly equipped themselves with mics, before taking their seats on the podium.

That's right. There were just 2 slanted tables on the massive stand.

And each table was slanted in a way that allowed them to see both those in the crowd and the projection on the podium too.

So for them, on one side was the crowd and on the other side was the massive Projection.

They had a 180 view of things.

And at the same time, their positioning on the podium didn't block any of the viewers below.

The auditorium was well designed for massive briefings such as these.
