Chapter 54

A total of two days, Velove underwent complete rest at home. During that time, Darwin seemed to take care of it seriously. From preparing breakfast, then going home for a while to accompany lunch. And when evening came, the man came home early so he could eat dinner faster, then accompanied Velove to relax until it was time to rest.

This morning, after believing that his condition was better, Velove decided to return to their activities. Actually, Darwin still wanted his wife to rest one more day at home. But, because Velove already looked so bored, he couldn't help but give permission.

"In fact, there isn't much work at the office either, honey. Why don't you just work tomorrow?"

Currently, the two of them were enjoying their breakfast. Before actually leaving, once again Darwin persuaded Velove to just rest at home.

"I'm feeling better. It's really lazy to stay at home all the time. When I'm working, I can meet you any time and take you to the room," explained the woman, making Darwin smile immediately.

"You bum. Just say the mode is still allowed to work."

"I'm not fashionable," said Velove with a serious face. "Besides, I'm already wearing work clothes, how come I can't work all of a sudden? What else should I do to convince you that I'm fine?"

Darwin devoured the last piece of American Sandwitch on his plate. Throwing probing glances, watching Velove carefully from top to toe. Confirming once again that his wife is really in a man's condition.

"Ok, you can work. But, you don't need to take work home and you can't be a part of the workforce so you forget to eat all kinds of things. If I hear that your ulcer is recurring, I won't allow you to work at all tomorrow. I'll just be a housewife " said the man with a serious face.

Velove laughed and after that deliberately threw a short hug towards Darwin. Don't forget to thank him because the man finally gave permission.

"Don't worry, yesterday won't happen again. I promise."

"Okay, now get ready. We'll be leaving for work in five minutes."

Arriving at the office, Darwin escorted Velove first to the room. Making sure his wife was comfortable, then he went with several division heads to attend a meeting out there with one of the clients.

Meanwhile, Velove was in his room doing what he could do. When he was busy, suddenly Nathan appeared. The man came with a file and a box of cakes for Velove to eat.

"How is he? Are you well?" asked Nathan while handing over the box in his hand.

Velove nodded. Not refusing, the woman just accepted what Nathan gave her.

"I'm already 100% healthy. You can see my condition yourself, right?"

"Thank goodness for that. The important thing is you don't have to overdo the work."

"Don't worry," Velove said with a smile. "I'm not going to push myself so hard that I forget to eat everything. By the way, is this cake for all of me?"

Nathan nodded. The man even helped fetch plastic plates which happened to be available in the storage cupboard in the Velove room.

"Yes. I bought it for you on purpose. Here's the plate as well. So you can eat it while checking your work."

Velove then looked at Nathan's face who was currently busy cutting the cake. There was a sudden feeling of sadness in his heart. He couldn't bear it because previously he had openly emphasized to his ex-girlfriend that they would never be able to be together again.

Everything happened because Velove had convinced himself to choose Darwin as his companion. Even Velove also believes that Nathan will eventually be able to meet a better woman than him.

"Here's the cake," Nathan said, interrupting Velove's reverie. "I've cut and ready for you to enjoy."

Velove nodded. Gladly accepted the plate of cake proffered by Nathan.

"You're so kind after what I've done before," Velove muttered while spooning the cake into his mouth.

Nathan just smiled. There was not the slightest hint of disappointment that had previously appeared on his face.

"Why should I be mean to the people I love? Even though you have made your choice, I want the two of us to maintain a good relationship."

Velove smiled happily. It was also a relief because Nathan was slowly starting to accept what had become his decision.

"Don't you want to try all of them? There's a lot of cheesecake here."

"No," Nathan shook his head, politely declining. "I bought it especially for you. So, you just eat it and finish it. If that's the case, I want to continue working again."

Velove nodded. Keep looking at Nathan who slowly stepped out of his room. As soon as he was about to close the door, he suddenly called back.

"Nathan..."

Hearing his name being called, Nathan turned his head. "What's wrong? You need something else?"

Velove at that moment also shook his head. "No, I forgot to thank you. Anyway, thanks for the cake and the concern."

Nathan then smiled. After closing the door, to then return to his own room. Even though Velove made sure that the two of them would never be together again, Nathan still wanted to have a good relationship with his ex-girlfriend. Even if you can't have it, at least you can see it every day.

While enjoying the cake given by Nathan, Velove was again engrossed in continuing his work. Until 11 o'clock in the afternoon, his cellphone suddenly rang. Seeing his father's name on the screen, Velove hastily picked up the call.

"Yes, what's wrong, Papa?"

"Where are you? Are you well? Papa heard that he was sick yesterday after the meeting with Leighton. So, how are you now?" Darius asked curiously.

"Velove is healthy, Va. That's why we can continue working today. How about you yourself? Are you healthy?"

"Papa is healthy, honey. Can we meet today? Someone wants Papa to chat with you."

"You can, Pa," Velove said without hesitation and the slightest suspicion. He thought, Darius was the same as usual who suddenly called because he wanted to let go of his longing, then asked to be visited.

"Velove and Darwin have a good relationship."

"What is this, son? Are you hiding something from Papa?"

In the end, we also canceled the agreement that was agreed upon and decided to live a normal life as a real husband and wife."
