70. Head over heels.
Having being told that she was with child, Winifred was shocked and confused and the fact that her stomach was so protruding already was even more shocking. "What happened to me, Miss?" She asked.
"Do you not remember anything?" The woman asked in return. "I do remember a lot of things, who I am and all of that but what I don't remember is how I went from being on a the ship to being here... in what seems to be an outcast of the human land." She said.
"Well, dear, my son helped you on the ship, we had been traveling back home from my family's meeting when we saw you passed out right beside the sea with men already bidding on you even." The woman explained. "Bidding on me?" Winifred asked, confused.
"Yes dear. You were without man and no one was claiming you, nobody knew you either so they came to the conclusion that you were either a runaway or a stray which meant that they could decide to own you when you wake up, but then I had immediately noticed that you were with child but knowing the men, they wouldn't care less. Until my son took the bold step to help you, he claimed that you were his wife and he had been looking all over the ship for you, even announced that you were pregnant and after all that explanation, the men let you be." The woman explained further and Winifred couldn't help but be grateful for the woman and her son.
"Thank you so much, Miss and your son too for being bold to do that but ma'am, how did I pass out or why? I don't understand and there's still a lot of confusing things that happened to me which I need questions to, last I checked, I had a flat stomach and for my stomach to be. This protruded, it has to be months already?" Winifred said.
"Yes, about that. We discovered poison in your system, I don't know how you got to take it but we discovered that you weren't just passed out but at the verge of death, so you've been in coma state for over four months now, to be honest, it was tiring and scary when you didn't wake up for so long because I myself didn't know what to do sometimes but then the child growing so well and healthy in you made me continue my treatment on you. I didn't expect that you'll wake up but since the child was growing normally, I planned to just continue, so it's very relieving and magical that you came back alive."
Poison? Winifred pondered wondering how she got to take Poison on the ship or wherever? Had she being given before she escaped or was she given when she was kidnapped and passed out. Either ways, she couldn't think of any way that Poison could have gotten into her body and so she decided to let that part go and focus instead of my the fact that she was alive and pregnant, she didn't know how to feel about it first because even though she was excited and happy about having a child for Arthur, she was also sad and pessimistic about the fact that she was yet again very faraway from him.
"And about your dream, dear, that's your mother." The woman suddenly said again catching Winifred offguard as she stared at her in shock wondering how she got to know that she even had a dream and how she knows what it entailed and who was in it.
"What?" She questioned.
"I said the woman in the dream you had is your mother and the child in it is you. She decided to let you know about who you really are and clear some questions you might be having. That's your real life, dear. Wherever it is that you were sent to was just to keep you safe, it was never your place. This is your home, here is your family and you're special." The woman explained further and Winifred was almost terrified at this point, this woman spoke like she knew everything about her life, she sounded like she knew that she was suddenly thrown into this world even when she had lived years in another.
"How... how... do you e... even know this ma'am? How are you telling me all of this?" She asked wanting to of course satisfy her answers and curiosity.
"I'm a Seer there. I see visions of the future, past or whatever it is that I am supposed to see, I'm also a healer which is why I could take good care of you for the past months."
At this revelation, Winifred visibly relaxed a bit and was about to ask more questions when a man suddenly walked into the small tent.
"She's awake?" He asked, looking very shocked about the turnout of events.
"Yes, son. She is and she's a bit confused about so many things too." His mother replied to him.
"Hello, young Miss. I'm Robert and I'm her son, we helped you months ago. How are you feeling?"
Winifred looked up at this man as he took in his appearance and features and when she did, it was like the world truly ceased to exist. It was never what she had expected him to be at all. It was like she had been dumped at the edge of the ocean, where only this male and his masculine beauty remained, blinding her to anyone or anything ever again. The impact of it crashed into her like waves during a storm, ready to swallow the ship whole. The way her current panted served as destiny’s way of warning her about this meeting and experiencing firsthand what those hopeless humans felt. The air hitched in her throat while electricity traveled from the top of her head to the tip of her toes, sending unfamiliar longing into her cells that crave to step closer to this man.
His dark hair, falling just below his ears, accentuated his tan skin and high cheekbones, bringing attention to the perfect symmetry of his face and making all the sculptors in the world jealous that such perfection already exists. Except his nose. It had two small bumps indicating it has been broken a few times, but it only added to the alluring darkness hovering over him and whispering at her to touch it and get burned. His mouth shaped into a smile, his full lips looking beautiful. Although the grin encouraged her to speak to him, the coldness filling his brown orbs warned her about the thousands of weapons this man possessed. Weapons that might be deadly and send her into the abyss if she's not careful enough.
He towered over her; he must be around six foot five. The red shirt he wore with the sleeves rolled to his elbows stretched around his shoulders while the black pants and leather shoes finish, emphasizing his muscled form. Various scars on his neck mar his skin, visible under the harsh light streaming from above, yet he did nothing to cover them up. He wore them as a badge of honor, daring anyone to question him about them. Winifred was mesmerized at this man, he was beautiful but the her mind seemed to chip in that he still wasn't as beautiful as Arthur was.
And she nodded to herself only until she realised that she had been carried away and this man, Robert had been waiting for a response from her as patiently as possible, "are you alright? You seemed to zone out right there?" He said and his voice sounded so deep.
"Uh... I'm fine, thank you. Thank you so much for helping me back then too, she told me all about it and I can't help but feel like I'm in your debt. Thank you very much for your kindness, the world needs more of you." Winifred expressed her gratitude with all sincerity and Robert smiled, "it's fine, Miss. I did what anyone would do."
Robert had taken a liking to the girl before him right from the day he had rescued her and he had found her so attractive since then, even with her pregnancy, she still glowed and he knew that if he was given the chance, he'd snatch her up. She was beautiful and gracious. Her thick, wavy, long golden hair gracefully fell down to her shoulders and encircled her diamond-shaped face. A golden suntan brought out her smooth, clear complexion and high cheek bones. Her slightly arched chestnut brown eyebrows highlighted her emotions by moving up and down as she reacted to her world around her. Her large deep blue eyes, remind him of a lake on a stormy day. Her curved nose gives her a little girl look that makes him want to smile when she talks. And her mouth was a small mouth outlined by puffy lips, when she smiled, her well formed and even, white teeth brightened up her whole face.
It wasn't hard to tell that he was head over heels in love with the girl before him and he couldn't wait to hear her story and help her in any way he can.
And then when she finally spoke again, he got his chance, to help, even though he didn't want to after hearing the last words that ended her request, "uh... is there anyway I can write a letter and send to someone, he needs to know where I am so he can come get me."
