Arrival of Timmy
"In two years, I want you to become an A rank adventurer."
[Quest Generated! ]
Become an A rank adventurer!
Reward: Trait Box
Punishment upon Failure: N/A
Time Limit: 2 Years
Current Rank: N/A
Looking briefly at the screen and then back at my master, I made an annoyed expression.
"An A rank adventurer... for a mage, I'd have to be at the fifth layer or so... Certainly, I'm stronger than probably any mage at my level, but to reach the fifth layer in two years, that'd be impossible."
I looked at it from a logical perspective, but the task seemed extremely difficult.
Seeing that the quest gave me a 'trait box', the inner gambler inside of me swelled in excitement.
Right now, my traits were comedically unbalanced.
One was EX, one was SS.
One was E+, one was F, and one was FFF.
It could be described as heaven and earth.
Looking towards my master, I had to ask.
"...Do I get a reward?"
"Tsk, aren't you a little greedy, my teaching is a reward in and of itself."
Well, truthfully I couldn't argue against that.
But before I could agree, he spoke again.
"Still, it wouldn't be too bad to give you a weapon."
So basically, if I completed the task I'd be recieving a trait and my own weapon...
If it was my master, surely the weapon would be good.
Well, to be honest, becoming an adventurer sounded fun.
I was tired of living in such miserable environments such as a desert and a tundra.
A part of me yearned for adventure, my right as a reincarnator in a fantasy world.
"Alright master, A rank adventurer? I'll become one."
I didn't know whether he had a special reason for me to become an adventurer, or if it was an arbitrary goal to inspire growth.
I didn't care either.
"Welp, Skelly, thought I should say goodbye to you as well."
Click Clack.
Skelly did not give much of a response, as he did not have high intelligence like that of Larry.
But, I had some respect for him considering he had managed to train me in swordsmanship to the rank of E+.
My usage of the imperial sword style had mostly faded, largely being replaced by Skelly's own style.
I had no idea of its name, but it was probably renowned somewhere in the continent.
...
Packing my things did not take long thanks to the help of my new spacial bag.
My previous pouch could hold items up to an area of one square meter, whilst my new one given by my master could hold up to three square meters.
It was a ninefold increase, meaning it could easily contain everything I owned.
Leaving my room I bid farewell to Larry.
To be honest, I couldn't tell if the guy liked me or not, but he gave me a polite farewell in response.
...
I met my master in the courtyard where we first landed.
Beside him stood Timmy, his appearance as terrifying as ever.
Interestingly, before I had come I noticed that...
Timmy was acting rather cutely, well, as cute as an undead dragon could act.
But as soon as he saw a glimpse of me, he became serious.
'...Funny.'
"You ready?"
I nodded my head and climbed onto Timmy.
As Timmy ascended, the strain upon my body was far more bareable than the first time.
Larry provided me with a constant supply of low grade elixirs whenver I finished training with Skelly.
Now, I was able to appreciate how much stronger my body had grown.
We rose above the tundra fog, high into the sky.
It would take about a day to get to Babel, but naturally it would be impossible to land there directly.
All sorts of high ranking adventurers would come out if a bone dragon was spotted.
So we'd have to stop by quite a distance away from the city.
Considering I wouldn't see my master again for a long time, I wanted to ask him some questions.
As well as something else.
"Master, have you heard of the Notoria family?"
I spoke with normal volume, but he could hear me clearly even as we moved through the air at high speed.
"So, that's the family you're from? Aren't they supposed to have red hair and eyes?"
He immediately understood the intention of my question.
"Well, I'm a bastard... so I guess I wasn't lucky enough to inherit the red hair... as for the eyes, well, my eyes used to be red."
When I revealed this, I thought my master would be a little confused, but he did not bother asking about my eyes.
"Well, to asnwer your question, yeah, I'm aware of them, guess that explains your talent."
"I think that has to be the first time you've called me talented."
"Honestly, anyone with infinite magic would inevitably be called talented, being able to practice endlessly is huge, but yeah, you're not half bad."
'Well, I'll take what I can get, I suppose.'
"So, do you know anything about the Notary art?"
"...No, even as an archmage, the arts of the great families of the empire are knowledge that is entirely unknown to me."
It was the answer I had expected, but I was glad to confirm it.
Changing the conversation, I asked about what he'd do after we separated.
"Hm.. Well, I'd like to meet some people, and prepare for the future."
The last part sounded quite ominous, but considering how vague he had been, asking about it would only lead to an answer such as 'it's not something you need to worry about'.
"Furio... let me ask you a question, this time. Why do you wish to grow stronger?"
It was a question I had though about before.
Obviously, wanting to learn magic was a simple desire I had as someone who came to this land from Earth.
As well as that, I did not like the idea of anyone looking down upon me, something that had not changed since my time on Earth.
I felt as if they were shallow answers, but truthfully, those were my best reasons. I just wanted to grow strong for the sake of being strong.
I repeated my thoughts to my master, omitting the Earth part, and he remained silent for some time.
I wondered if he found my answers to be poor.
Without me saying anything, as if he sensed my thoughts, my master spoke up.
"Hah, don't worry those reasons... They're fine. I'm sure you'll eventually find something more."
'That wouldn't be too bad.'
"...Oi, you see that?"
A woman carrying a bow stared at the sky, her emerald eyes trembling in fear.
"Eh, wadd'ya mean?"
A muscular middle aged man wielding a warhammer asked her in confusion, turning his head to look at the sky where she was staring.
"Holy shit."
Another member of the party swore, dropping their sword to the ground.
"...Dragon. Undead Dragon. Fuck."
LOG 26 - ADVENTURER'S ASSOCIATION
