Chapter 2
The house was just as I remembered it, nothing had changed. I pulled up the driveway, parked and got off, I opened the back and pulled out my bag and my carry-on, grabbed by handbag, and walked up to the front door. More like struggled up to the front door, but who cares?
Just as I rang the doorbell, something clicked in my head, and I turned back. That’s when I noticed the two strange cars parked beside mine. How did I miss that? Oh well, I shrugged.
The door opened and my sister screamed “Kathy!” as she pulled me in for a bear hug. I just stood there awkwardly still clutching my bags while she hugged me. She is a hugger, and I am not. I definitely am not a hugger. Actually, I hate physical contact, I am repelled by physical contact. Bottom line, I do not like being touched. But, Katlyn never got that. She never understood it.
When she finally let go of me, I smiled and said “Hey Katy, it is been so long since I’ve seen you.”
“Yeah, what’s it been? Three years? God, it is been ages since I last saw you! I have missed you so much!” she exclaimed.
“Yeah, me too.” I mumbled awkwardly.
Okay, let me explain a little what’s going on. It is not that I haven’t missed my sister, it is just that I am not the type who talks about feelings and such. I am not the touchy-feely type, and I am even less touchy feely when it comes to girls. I don’t like to talk about my feelings, I hardly ever express how I feel. I guess you could call me emotionally detached.
Anyways, back to the present.
Katlyn grabs my suitcase, and starts walking towards the stairs, and I follow with my carry-on and handbag. She is chatting away about how she has missed me, and how her graduation ceremony went.
Did I forget to mention my sister graduated from college last year, and that I missed her graduation? Oh no, no, it is not what you think, I actually had a paper to write on the very same day of the ceremony. I called to explain to her, she was disappointed, but she understood.
She goes on and on, about this and that, until we got to the door of my room, then she stopped and put the suitcase down, and said “Okay, I know you probably just want to take a bath, fall on the bed and go straight to dreamland. But, I would really love for us to sit and talk. You know, catch up”.
“But, since you are going to be here for almost a month, I guess we would have plenty of time for that”. She said smiling.
“Sure sis” I replied.
“Oh, and one more thing, two of my friends are staying with you in your room” she said as she opened the door.
‘What!” I exclaimed, shocked to see two girls staring right at me, one sitting on MY bed, and the other just stepping out of MY bathroom.
“Hey” they both chorus.
