Chapter 21 (Becky's POV)
It's been a pretty peaceful week.
Well apart from my drinking stunt on Monday.
Which is still a bit of a blur in my memories.
I can't remember most of the night.
I know I went out for a drink with Margaret, I ordered some whisky like always but that's it.
After my first glass my memory is blank.
Which is weird because I am no light weight.
There were days when I didn't eat at all and was drinking alcohol, but not once did my memory go blank.
And that kept bugging me throughout the week.
I also tried calling Margaret, but she didn't pick up or return any of my calls.
Something just didn't feel right about that Monday night.
But I had no time to dwell on it.
Aron will be home soon and then we are going out.
I still have no idea where he is taking me.
Me and Aron… We are great, you could say.
There is this side of him that he hides from the world.
A vulnerable side. But in the past few days I managed to get a few glimpses of that side as well.
Especially when he talks about his aunt or cousin.
They both sound like amazing ladies.
And underneath all that business look, Aron also hides a mischievous strike.
I couldn't help the chuckle that escaped me at remembering how he told me about Ana and her idea of becoming a lesbian.
I could practically see my mom's face if I told her something like this and it just made me laugh harder.
I can just imagine what kind of trouble those two got into back in school.
He also told me his uncle died when Ana was only a few weeks old.
One night his aunt came home with Ana and found him stabbed in the back 6 times, lying in his own blood on the bathroom floor.
They never found his killer. So up until today, more than 20 years later, his murder is still unsolved.
His aunt never got married again or even dated anyone.
She says her husband was the love of her life and she would never disrespect him like that.
It really was a beautiful thing to hear.
Even an ice queen like me melted at that.
Right. Enough daydreaming.
I need to find clothes!
I started digging around my wardrobe.
Ok. He said something casual and not too fancy.
I decided on a neon green T-shirt that fit me like a glove and my favorite pair of jeans.
Of course they made my ass look perfect duuh.
I paired it with my green all stars, grabbed my jeans jacket and I was ready.
I was just coming down stairs when there was a knock at my door.
I went to open it and started laughing when I saw Aron standing there with a bouquet of roses in his hand.
"You know you live here at the moment and you could come in right?"
His lips stretched into a soft smile, which in the past week I realized was reserved only for me, his aunt and cousin.
Everyone else got the fake smirk he always wore.
"Now what kind of date would that be if I just barged inside the house? I might be young, but I like to do things the old fashioned way."
It took everything in me not to swoon at his words.
God help me, this man was perfect in every way possible.
And if I wasn't careful I might fall for him.
I took a second to give him a once over.
He was wearing those jeans that fit him perfectly, a green button down shirt, with a few buttons undone at the top.
His sleeves were rolled up and shoving me those muscular forearms.
Wait. What?
Since when did I develop a fetish for forearms?
Well guess it's more an Aron fetisch than anything else.
I realized he asked me something and shook my head to get back to reality.
"I'm sorry. What?"
A chuckle escaped him before he repeated himself.
"I asked if you are ready?"
"Oh yeah. Sure. Let's go."
He offered me his elbow and locked the door behind us.
He led me to his car and we were on our way.
I couldn't help but feel nervous.
I have hated surprises since I was little, and that affection never changed.
"Can I know where we are going already?"
He just chuckled and shook his head no.
I was pouting and decided to put my attention on the outside world.
Suddenly he took my hand in his and brought it up to his lips to give it a kiss.
"Did I tell you, you look beautiful? And we actually managed to match our outfits."
Qt his words I chuckled.
Damn him. I couldn't even be mad at him for long.
The car suddenly came to a stop and I looked outside.
Our destination wasn't anything special to be honest.
We were in the near neighborhood that was known as the peaceful one.
There were houses with huge lawns in front, but it wasn't the pretentious type.
It was just enough to make you feel calm and at ease here.
I looked at Aron and I couldn't ignore the mischievous smile on his lips.
"Aron. What did you do?"
"Me? Nothing. I just brought you here for a nice dinner."
Something was fishy here.
"Ok. And who lives here?"
There was a spark in his eyes that told me whatever his plan was I wouldn't like it.
"Oh that. Just my aunt. And I guess Ana is already here as well since her car is in the driveway."
Yup. Not gonna like it. I knew it.
Do you think I am allowed to have a panic attack right now? Or maybe a breakdown?
