Chapter 1223 The Smoky Hogwarts
Then there were the strange noises in the corridor. Every night when it was quiet, there would always be noises in the corridor outside the Defense Against the Dark Arts office.
The voice was so sweet that it was sickening, and it kept repeating words like "pink" and "cute". Umbridge searched many times but couldn't find the person behind it.
Then came the pungent green smoke that came out of the office fireplace.
It was a little chilly that night, so Umbridge lit the fireplace to warm herself.
Everything was fine at first, but suddenly, wisps of green smoke came out of the fireplace.
As soon as the damn smoke came into contact with her skin, the strong nasal irritation made her roll on the ground, and her snot and tears flowed uncontrollably.
When she finally got her wand to dispel the smoke, she found only half a tube of brown-green solid that was almost burned to charcoal ash in the fireplace.
She reached out and touched it, and a strong pungent sensation rushed straight to the top of her head. She was considered to have strong willpower because she didn't faint on the spot.
Finally, yesterday, she went to watch the Slytherin team's training on a whim, but she didn't expect two out-of-control Bludgers to keep chasing her, specifically trying to hit her on the head. After hitting her once, they miraculously bounced back from the air and continued to hit her.
Even now, the big bumps on Umbridge's forehead were still aching, and she was in no mood to think about anything else.
"Little bitch, come on if you can!"
This cry of impotent rage made Peeves, who was hiding in the ceiling, couldn't help but laugh evilly. Professor Toad, with a big forehead, seemed to think that this series of bad luck was all caused by Granger.
"Who! Come out!" Umbridge took out her short wand and pointed it at the brand new crystal chandelier on the ceiling that had been installed only a few days ago.
Peeves' eyes rolled around, and he quickly covered his mouth and quietly came under the chair where she was sitting.
The new chair was as fat and short as she was, and Peeves had to tug at it several times before he could finally move it.
Frightened, Umbridge jumped up, and the big bump on her forehead almost hit the pink crystal under the chandelier.
She pointed her wand at the chair and cast a levitation spell, sending it floating into the air and spinning slowly.
It doesn't seem like there's a problem at all, but for safety reasons, this custom-made new chair can't be kept.
Before throwing the chair into the fireplace, Umbridge checked the fireplace several times to make sure there was no strange solid object inside before she dared to light it.
Peeves, who was hiding in the floor, couldn't help laughing again.
Yes, it was responsible for all the bad luck, but it was not the one who put the mustard paste there.
It gives you a strong nasal rush when you touch it. What a genius idea.
"Where are you! Where are you?"
This time, Peeves did nothing in the face of Umbridge's impotent rage, but simply made an international friendly gesture to show his good manners.
A dark hand inexplicably stretched out from the floor and raised its middle finger to her. The short magic wand immediately lit up red.
Although Peeves is naughty, he is very smart. He just gives the middle finger and then runs away.
The office floor was ablaze, but it couldn't withstand Umbridge's full-strength attack and collapsed with a loud bang.
Umbridge stared coldly at the dark cave entrance, and laughed smugly, making a sharp sound like nails scratching glass.
"Ghost! Woo woo woo—" Myrtle's shrill cries came from the dark cave.
Umbridge's office is on the fourth floor, directly below which is the girls' bathroom on the third floor that is never used all year round, which is also the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets built by Salazar Slytherin.
Myrtle was called "Crying Myrtle" by students, so of course she was very timid.
The bathroom ceiling collapsed inexplicably, and then there was a creepy, sharp laugh. It would be abnormal if she didn't get scared to tears.
After all, even Umbridge was the same. She was laughing triumphantly, but when she heard the shrill cry, she immediately became timid and hid under the newly made pink table trembling.
I can’t stay in this crappy office anymore. No, I can’t stay in this crappy school anymore.
Umbridge wanted to pack up and run away, but she had a mission to accomplish. She had to uncover the dark side of Hogwarts at all costs.
Myrtle's shrill cries gradually faded away, and she gritted her teeth and poked her big head out from under the table.
It was completely dark, and the hole in the floor became as deep and dark as a bottomless pit.
"Whoosh—" The cold wind blowing in from the hole made Umbridge's big head tremble and shrink back.
With a "ding" sound, she was so scared that she crawled out of the office.
"Help! There's something dirty!" Her sharp screams echoed in the castle.
All the professors were alarmed and rushed over as quickly as possible.
Seeing them, Umbridge's mood finally stabilized.
"What happened?" McGonagall pursed her lips and looked worriedly at Umbridge, who was in disheveled clothes and holding her wand tightly in both hands.
"My office..."
Snape walked quickly into the office without saying a word.
Under the light, the objects in the house were in a mess as if they had been ravaged by a tornado, and there was even a big hole in the floor.
This familiar scene reminded him of his office which was vandalized two years ago.
"Huh..." He grinned, his face full of gloating.
Then Mag came in and screamed, "Oh my God! Who did this?"
She turned to look at Umbridge. "Poor Dolores, you must be terribly frightened."
"Pfft—" Sprout and Flitwick quickly covered their mouths.
My dear, there is more to come after this chapter. Please click on the next page to continue reading. There will be more exciting chapters later!
Snape quickly turned his head away to hide his facial muscles from twitching wildly.
They are all experienced professors and can guess what is going on at a glance.
Umbridge was not moved at all by McGonagall's "concern". Instead, she fiercely questioned loudly, "Professor McGonagall, do you really not know who did this?"
Mag was stunned. "Dolores, I don't know what you are talking about."
"You don't know?" Umbridge's invisible anger was instantly ignited, and she became frantic, with her features squeezed into an exaggerated shape. "If it weren't for your connivance and protection, how could she become so aggressive!"
The professors were all puzzled.
This guy was trembling outside just now, why did he suddenly go crazy? Is he taking advantage of the crowd now?
"Dolores, who did I condone and protect?"
"Granger!!!"
Dumbledore, who arrived late, could already hear Umbridge's hysterical screams from two corridors away.
When he walked into the Defense Against the Dark Arts office, McGonagall finally couldn't help but yell at her: "Dolores Umbridge! Are you delusional? Come here, take a closer look!"
McGonagall dragged Umbridge to the front of the hole. Although the light was not very good, she could still see that there was a bathroom underneath.
"You went to Hogwarts, don't you know about Myrtle?"
Mag stretched out her hand and pointed at a broken sewer pipe. "And this, I don't think I need to explain."
Umbridge's mouth opened wide, then suddenly closed tightly, as if she was about to bite something.
"That hand! That hand that came out of the floor! I could see her!"
Just as McGonagall was about to speak, she let out a sharp, piercing cry, "The atmosphere at Hogwarts is terrible! Even Knockturn Alley isn't as filthy as this!"
The professors looked at each other.
After making such a fuss for so long, it turns out that he was just taking advantage of the situation.
