Chapter 1248 Old Umbridge
Hogwarts is back on track, and the Ministry of Magic's special education commissioners, now without Umbridge's leadership, are completely useless.
They would still suddenly barge into the classroom to sit in, but this action was non-aggressive and had no impact whatsoever.
Sunday arrived again. Hermione got up early to wash up, did some light exercise, took a shower, and went to the Great Hall to enjoy a traditional English breakfast.
"Ding-dong—" It's a message notification from the magic communicator.
Hermione took the device off and placed it on the long table in front of her.
Rita in the projection screen was as radiant as ever, wearing a bright yellow robe and sporting her signature, self-proclaimed charming smile.
"Good morning, viewers. Welcome back to 'The Wizarding World Is Unprotected Tonight'."
Rita's voice carried a hint of teasing, "After the last episode aired, we received a lot of comments. The most upvoted comment wasn't about which witch introduced herself, but rather why our show, which is clearly called 'No Holds Barred Tonight,' is airing at 10 a.m. on Sundays?"
She gently adjusted her jeweled glasses on the bridge of her nose. "Like everyone else, I was eager to know the answer to the question, so I went to ask our President Gu Fei."
She shook her head somewhat affectedly, "You'll never guess his answer. He said 'tonight' was easier to say, and told me not to worry about the details. As long as the program is good, the name doesn't matter."
Hermione gulped down the hot milk she had just drunk.
Wayne Media's straightforward naming style is very similar to someone else's; no wonder they both have the surname Wayne.
Rita on the projection screen shrugged helplessly. "Let's leave the topic of the program's name here. We should officially begin today's program."
Her tone became unusually serious, "Today we have a distinguished guest, Mr. Alford Umbridge."
The camera focused on the studio door, where an elderly wizard, dressed simply and with gray hair, opened the door and walked in.
He sat awkwardly on the sofa opposite Rita, and as the camera zoomed in, viewers could see the kindness on his face and the lingering sadness in his eyes.
Rita's voice was surprisingly gentle, "Mr. Umbridge, thank you very much for accepting our invitation."
Old Umbridge, it's really Old Umbridge! The guest on the second episode of "The Wizarding World Is Open Tonight" is actually Dolores Umbridge's father.
Hermione and the students around her were stunned.
What surprised them even more was that old Umbridge was very kind and approachable. Despite their similar features, he was completely unlike Umbridge, who was known for his sharp tongue.
Rita asked softly, "Mr. Umbridge, could you tell me about Dolores? What was she like as a child?"
Old Umbridge's eyes were slightly red, and his voice was a little choked up: "Dolly... she was very strong-willed when she was young, and always wanted to do things the best. We have always been proud of her."
A projection screen lit up, showing a much younger version of him, a pregnant woman with a gentle smile, and a little girl with a stubborn look in her eyes, wearing a pink dress.
Old Umbridge looked at the old photograph, a faint ripple appearing in his eyes, a ripple that seemed to carry his endless memories. "Dolly was very close to us when she was little. She always had her mother dress her up beautifully."
The little girl in the pink dress in the old photo is adorable, almost unrecognizable from the Umbridge we know today.
Rita leaned forward slightly. "Mr. Umbridge, you seem to miss her a lot?"
Old Umbridge quickly wiped his eyes. "Yes, Dolly went to the Ministry of Magic right after graduation. At first, she often came home, but later... she became busier and busier, and she didn't want to mention us. Until one day, she sent us a letter."
Rita, who had already read the letter, sighed softly, "Do you remember what she wrote?"
Old Umbridge nodded, trembling. "I remember, I remember every single word."
"To avoid unnecessary misunderstandings and obstacles to my future development, I hereby formally declare that I am severing all ties with my Muggle background and my Squib brother."
Please do not contact me in any form again. I will dedicate myself to upholding the purity of the wizarding bloodline and the honor of the Ministry of Magic.
Rita frowned, her tone becoming heavy. "So, for the sake of so-called 'glory' and 'development,' she abandoned the mother who gave her life, the father who loved her deeply, and the brother she shared blood with?"
Old Umbridge lowered his head, unable to utter a single word.
Rita sighed again. "Mr. Umbridge, would you like to know how Dolores is doing at Hogwarts?"
Old Umbridge looked up, his eyes full of anticipation.
Rita gestured for him to look at the projection screen in front of him. Although his face was blurred, everyone could recognize who this pink-clad person was.
"Considering the height difference between you and the students... well... it's difficult for students in the back rows to see your demonstration clearly, isn't it? This seems like a kind of... well... unfair distribution of teaching resources."
"For example, Professor, have you ever considered that your... um... appearance, as if you were just dug out of the ground, might set a less-than-elegant, even somewhat unkempt, example for your students?"
"In my opinion, Hogwarts' Charms class lacks rigorous theoretical supervision, poses serious safety hazards, and suffers from inconsistent teaching quality due to the limitations of the teachers themselves."
By launching personal attacks on professors with the most arrogant tone and the most sarcastic words, Umbridge's true colors have finally been revealed to the public.
However, the video footage was not yet finished; the projection screen switched to her office.
The room, constructed of lace and butterflies, clearly demonstrates her obsession with pink, while the eerie cat plates and the cats' fawning gestures reveal her deepest desires.
She wanted everyone to be like a cat on a plate, unconditionally and mechanically loving and obeying her.
Rita made no attempt to hide the disdain on her face. "Mr. Umbridge, what do you think of her actions at Hogwarts?"
Old Umbridge closed his eyes in anguish. "I...I saw her interview in the newspaper. Even though she has completely cut off contact with her family, we have always been proud of her."
"now what?"
“I…” Old Umbridge let the tears stream down his face. “I…I’m so disappointed. How could she say such…vicious things?”
Umbridge's coldness at school is a stark contrast to his present self.
Look at her attacks on the short, soil-loving, and stern professors; only by binding others with rules can she gain a fleeting sense of superiority.
