Chapter 944: Fair Selector
In the middle of the dinner, the door of the auditorium was opened again.
Old Barty and Bagman, both in their cloaks, headed straight for the staff table.
Harry patted Ron, who was eating Krum beside him, and said, "Look, it's Percy's boss!"
Ron turned his head and saw that old Batty had just sat down in the empty chair next to Madame Maxime.
Under his cloak was a set of dark wizard robes, and his short gray hair was neatly combed.
In comparison, Bagman, who was sitting next to Karkaroff, looked a little unkempt.
Ron put down the lamb chops in his hand in surprise, "Why are they here?"
Harry thought for a moment and said, "Maybe it's because of the Triwizard Tournament. Professor Dumbledore just said that the competition will start after the banquet."
Ron raised the lamb chop and took a big bite, then said vaguely, "Really? Then they must be the referees who select the warriors."
Harry nodded. "Mr. Crouch is well-known for his fairness and strictness. I believe no one will have any objection to him selecting the warriors."
At the long staff table, Karkaroff seemed particularly uncomfortable, always glancing at old Barty guiltily from time to time.
On the other side of the Gryffindor table, Fred and George were also looking at old Barty.
But their reactions were as if the sky had fallen.
"George, our anti-aging drug plan is ruined. That person is a ruthless person who dares to sacrifice his own family for the sake of justice."
"Calm down, Fred. We still have Bagman. We are so familiar with him, we should be able to convince him to help."
People say Bagman has turned over a new leaf, but a gambler is a gambler after all, so at worst we can just give him half of the winnings.
The dinner was gradually coming to an end and everyone was tasting the creative British desserts.
Although British cuisine is not very good, when it comes to desserts, there is no doubt about it in the world.
Especially in Hogwarts, the headmaster here loves sweets, so the food served to entertain distinguished guests is definitely not ordinary stuff.
Vincent picked up a shortbread cookie and put it in his mouth.
It has a rich milky flavor and melts in your mouth, worthy of being Dumbledore's choice.
The golden plates containing the desserts were quickly cleared out, and the unsatisfying dessert time finally came to an end.
Dumbledore stood up again under everyone's gaze, and an atmosphere of excitement and nervousness began to spread in the hall.
"The moment has finally arrived." He smiled as he looked at the students' upturned faces. "The Triwizard Tournament is about to begin. I want to explain a few things first, and then bring the box in."
The box was, of course, the one that contained the Goblet of Fire, but most students didn't know that.
"I want to explain our program for this school year, but first please allow me to introduce two guests, because some people may not know them yet."
Dumbledore looked at Barty Sr., "This is Mr. Barty Crouch, Director of the Department of International Cooperation at the Ministry of Magic."
There was sparse applause in the auditorium.
Dumbledore looked towards Bagman. "This is Mr. Ludo Bagman, Head of the Department of Sports and Games at the Ministry of Magic."
The applause in the auditorium was obviously much louder than before.
As a former professional Quidditch player, Bagman is quite well-known, and many students who don't pay much attention to current affairs know him.
"Over the past few months, Mr. Bagman and Mr. Crouch have worked tirelessly for the Triwizard Tournament. Some time ago, they even stayed up all night to study for a whole month in order to familiarize themselves with the live broadcast business."
Dumbledore looked at the four people sitting beside him one by one, "They will form a judging panel with me, Professor Karkaroff, and Madame Maxime to judge the efforts of the warriors."
When the students heard the word "warrior", they instantly perked up.
Dumbledore smiled and said, "Mr. Filch, please bring up the box."
Filch walked out of the corner of the Great Hall, holding in his hands a large, worn wooden box inlaid with jewels.
Vincent and Hermione looked at each other in tacit understanding.
The referee panel is usually only responsible for judging the warriors, not selecting them.
But if the format changes, a backup plan will have to be activated.
Filch carefully carried the large wooden box towards the long staff table, his face looking extremely solemn.
"Mr. Crouch and Mr. Bagman have carefully reviewed the specific events of the Warriors' competition this year."
Dumbledore paused and asked Filch to place the large wooden box solemnly on the table.
"They make a lot of necessary arrangements for each of the three events, which will be held at different times throughout the school year and will test the Warriors in many different ways."
Dumbledore glanced at Vincent. "The test consists of magical talent, courage, reasoning ability, and finally, the ability to overcome danger."
All eyes in the auditorium turned to Vincent. These three projects were tailor-made for him.
There is no need to guess about the live broadcast business, it must be related to Wayne Enterprises.
But most students felt very fortunate because Vincent was only a fourth-year student on paper, even though he didn't look like it at all.
Dumbledore slightly suppressed the smile on his face, "As everyone knows, we will select three warriors to participate in the competition."
His expression returned to calm. "Each warrior will represent a participating school. The judges will give scores based on the quality of their performance in each competition item. After the three items are finished, the warrior with the highest score will win the Tri-Strong Cup."
The students turned their eyes back to Dumbledore.
The competition system has been discussed, and now the only thing left is how to select the warriors.

And he immediately responded to everyone's expectations, "The one responsible for selecting the warriors is an impartial selector, and it is the Goblet of Fire."
Vincent secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
As long as the person who selects the Warriors is not someone who is easily biased by emotions, he has countless ways to ensure that he will not be selected.
Dumbledore at the staff table raised the Elder Wand under the gaze of everyone and tapped the lid of the large wooden box three times.
The lid creaked open slowly, and he reached out and picked up a large, crudely carved wooden goblet.
The cup itself is inconspicuous, but there is a blue and white flame dancing on it.
Dumbledore closed the box and placed the Goblet of Fire on the lid, where it could be clearly seen by everyone in the Great Hall.
"Every student who wants to run for the Warriors must write your name and school on a piece of parchment and throw it into this goblet."
Vincent gave him a suggestive smile.
Dumbledore was completely unaware of the meaning behind this smile, "Anyone interested in becoming a warrior can sign up within 24 hours.
Tomorrow night, Halloween night, the Goblet of Fire will select the names of three students it believes best represent the three schools.
The Goblet of Fire will be placed in the Entrance Hall tonight, accessible to all students who wish to participate in the election."
He put away the smile on his face again, "In order to prevent underage students from being unable to resist the temptation--"
His azure eyes swept over the younger students, pausing for a moment on the confident twins.
"Once the Goblet of Fire is placed behind the entrance hall, I will draw an age line around it, and no one under the age of seventeen will be able to cross this line."
The twins remain confident.
Dumbledore's tone became serious, "Finally, I would like to remind every student who wants to participate in the election.
Please note that this competition is not a joke and you should not participate rashly.
Once he cast his name into the Goblet of Fire, he actually signed a magical contract with the cup that he must abide by.
After becoming a Warrior, no one can change his mind, he has to stick to the game to the end. "
Dumbledore relented. "Therefore, I implore you to think twice before you enter the Goblet of Fire until you are sure that you really want to participate in the competition."
After that, he smiled at the students and said, "Well, I think it's time for you to go to bed. Good night everyone."
