Chapter 948 Madame Maxime and Karkaroff
After the students of Beauxbatons finished signing up, they followed Madam Maxime to the Gryffindor table.
Furong stood up with a start.
However, her principal did not call her back.
Vincent stood up and greeted Madame Maxime in French: "Bonjour, Madame."
Madame Maxime was a little surprised. She glanced at Fleur, who was standing uncomfortably, and smiled and responded to him in French: "Bonjour, Vincent."
The two of them had a simple handshake, but the height difference seemed a bit awkward.
Vincent pulled the chair next to him, "Ma'am, do you need to sit down?"
Madame Maxime shook her head gently, "No, I still have to take my students back."
"Okay." Vincent looked a little disappointed. "Uncle Osmond always told me that you are the most elegant rose in France. I wanted to have a good chat with you."
The word "Uncle Osmond" instantly brought the two closer together. As for whether the French Minister of Magic had ever said that she was "the most elegant rose in France", only Vincent and Osmond knew.
Even though she knew it was probably fake, Madame Maxime still smiled happily, "So this is how Minister Russell sees me."
Vincent nodded vigorously. "Uncle Osmond is very easy to talk to in private. During the summer vacation, my girlfriend and I went to visit him, and he talked to us about family matters for a long time."
Madame Maxime glanced at Hermione beside Fleur in confusion, "Really? I didn't expect you and Minister Russell were so close."
Nicolas Flamel is the pride of the French wizarding world, and as his student, Vincent will naturally be favored by the French wizard.
But Madame Maxime didn't just come to say hello.
She turned to look at the Goblet of Fire in the hallway, "Vincent, you haven't signed up yet, right?"
It turned out that he came here to confirm.
Vincent's eyes changed slightly as he looked at her. "No, ma'am, I don't think I'll be lucky enough to be elected the champion of Hogwarts."
Madame Maxime's face lit up, then turned sad. "This is so regrettable. Professor Dumbledore certainly wouldn't want—"
"Olim!" A warm and sweet male voice came from the entrance of the auditorium.
Madame Maxime turned around and looked over, with obvious annoyance on her face.
Karkaroff strode over with the Durmstrang students. "Oh - I didn't disturb you, did I?"
She gave him a polite smile. "No, Professor Karkaroff. I just came to say hello to Vincent."
Karkaroff stood in front of the two men with an enthusiastic look on his face, "That's good."
He gave Vincent a quick, slightly scrutinizing look and said, "We meet again."
He raised his hand and patted Vincent's shoulder affectionately, "The last time we met, Vincent, you were just a child."
"Ah..." Karkaroff sighed, "time flies by so fast."
Although he lamented the passage of time and the changes in people and things, Vincent could not feel his sincerity at all.
The last and only time they met was during the summer vacation of their second year, at Nico's "funeral".
Although Karkaroff disguised himself well, Vincent still sensed his hypocrisy, which was even more disgusting than the hypocrisy of politicians.
Vincent lowered his eyes and pretended to be particularly sad, "Yes, time flies."
Karkaroff was a little at a loss, apparently he thought Vincent was remembering his teacher who had been "dead" for many years.
Having accidentally revealed someone's scar, he had no choice but to pat his shoulder and whisper a few words of comfort.
"Everything will be fine. I still have to register my students, so I won't bother you anymore."
"Thank you, Professor Karkaroff."
The students of Durmstrang hurriedly followed him away with disdain, only Krum glanced at Hermione and Vincent a few more times before leaving.
Maybe they all thought Vincent was an emotional person who was overly sentimental, but this was actually just a polite way to ask someone to leave.
They came to the Goblet of Fire in the hallway, and Vincent took off his disguise and winked mischievously at Madame Maxime, "I'm sorry, ma'am, for making you worry."
Madame Maxime understood immediately.
She couldn't hide the smile on her face, "If Professor Karkaroff knew the truth, he would be very sad."
Vincent spread his hands indifferently, "I don't think so, but he will definitely hate me even more."
The elegant Madame Maxime almost couldn't help laughing, "Well, it's time for me to take my students back."
Fleur followed her consciously and left the castle with the students of Beauxbatons.
After Durmstrang and his companions left, the hall returned to its original bustle.
The students of Hogwarts no longer continued to discuss who would be elected as the champion, but instead discussed Vincent's relationship with the two headmasters.
The twins, who were always at the forefront of gossip, sat down next to him, one on each side.
"Dude, are you familiar with Madame Maxime?"
"I heard that she is a half-giant like Hagrid. Are you going to fall in love with someone else?"
The corner of Vincent's mouth twitched violently, and Hermione opposite him glared at the twins fiercely.
Fred seemed completely unaware of the fierce light in her eyes. "Man, I didn't expect you to like pony-drawn carts."
“Hahaha—” Vincent’s laughter was particularly creepy, “If I had known, I wouldn’t have helped you remove your beards. You are simply repaying kindness with enmity.”
George hugged him with a smile and said, "It's just a joke, but to be honest, Madame Maxime is indeed a great beauty."
Vincent rolled his eyes, "You guys come over here to tease me when you have time, have you figured out a way to sign up?"
The twins showed an expression that said, "You know us." "Not only are we signing up, we've even figured out how to get elected as a warrior."
"What is it?"
"It's a secret~ We won't tell you~"
Vincent looked at the two grinning men carefully. "Bribe? Bagman?"
The twins looked horrified and gasped.
"Dude, when did you learn Legilimency?"
"You know, I'm not interested in this magic."
Fred laughed dryly. "Yeah, but how did you guess that?"
Vincent looked at him, then at George. "It's simple. You can't do anything with the Goblet of Fire, which is an inanimate object. You can only look for living people you can influence."
The three principals are too difficult, and old Batty is even more difficult, so Bagman is the only option left.
The twins nodded as if they understood, and looked at Vincent as if he were a monster.
"Let's not talk about it for now. We should go find someone."
"Wish ya'll good luck."
