Chapter 966 Wand Testing Ceremony
Fortunately, the two masters did not end up arguing, and only discussed their different philosophies on wands.
Ollivander values the connection between the wand and the wizard. In his eyes, there are no "weak" wands, only unsuitable wands.
Gregorovitch pursues the practicality of wands. He believes that an excellent wand should have excellent performance and any fancy design is unnecessary.
Vincent quietly retreated behind the two men and came to Dumbledore, "Professor, I have set up the equipment. I should go back to class."
"Wait." Dumbledore hesitated. "Vincent, I think it would be best if you stayed a little longer, so that you wouldn't have to run around if there were any problems with the equipment."
Well, in addition to providing the equipment, we also have to be responsible for after-sales service, so we might as well just edit the promotional video.
Vincent looked reluctant, "Professor Dumbledore, will there be problems with pressing a button?"
"Both Ludo and Batistuta are first-time operators, so there will inevitably be some minor problems."
That’s right. After all, they haven’t even figured out the simplest equipment placement. Who knows what weird problems these two directors might come up with.
"Okay." Vincent spread his hands. "I should have asked the Ministry of Magic for some rental fees. Then they would have memorized the entire instruction manual as quickly as possible."
Dumbledore was speechless.
Bagman said he had memorized it one second, and then he continued to stare at the recording device the next second.
If there was going to be a rental fee, he would at least have been sure to carry the instruction manual with him.
"Huh——" Draco sneered, his face full of disdain.
Perhaps in his eyes, asking the Ministry of Magic for rental fees would be a failure and it would just be bragging.
Vincent gave him a meaningful look in return, then walked to the equipment and waited quietly.
Soon, Merovingian returned and joined the normal academic exchanges between the two masters.
His philosophy focuses more on the appearance and comfort of the wand. A good wand should first make wizards love it, and performance and stability are secondary.
The three greatest wand makers in Europe gathered at Hogwarts, and Vincent suddenly became alert.
The best the British Ministry of Magic could invite was Ollivander from their own country, and as for the remaining two masters, it was unlikely that Fudge would be able to invite them himself.
Then, Merovingian and Gregorovich could only have been invited by Madame Maxime and Karkaroff.
That's right, there had already been an accident when the champions for the Goblet of Fire were being selected, and the British Ministry of Magic could not be relied upon, so Beauxbatons and Durmstrang had no choice but to find ways to avoid future accidents.
When Vincent was thinking about this, Madam Maxime and Karkaroff entered the classroom one after another with warriors from their respective schools.
Now only Bagman and old Batty are left.
Their trip to the toilet took too long, and Karkaroff and Krum, who were sitting on the chairs by the door, were already getting a little impatient.
"Dumbledore, did they fall into the toilet?"
"Professor Karkaroff, please wait a moment. I will go outside and check."
Dumbledore walked out of the classroom and saw Bagman jogging towards him.
"Sorry, Barty and I got lost."
Old Batty walked slowly towards us from behind with an expressionless face. He seemed to be in a bad mood, probably because he felt embarrassed.
Bagman smiled and pulled Dumbledore into the classroom.
"Everyone is here now, so let's not waste any more time and start with the wand detector, and then interview the warriors individually later!"
Don't hit a smiling person. No matter how resentful Karkaroff is, he can only hold it back.
The three wand-making masters ended their conversation and watched quietly as the five judges walked towards the five chairs behind the long table.
When old Batty saw Vincent next to the recording equipment, his face instantly turned extremely ugly.
First the equipment couldn't be fixed, then he went to the bathroom and got lost, and then the maker of the equipment hadn't left yet, making it clear that he didn't trust him and Bagman and was worried that something might go wrong again.
Bagman's face didn't look very good either, but he quickly smiled at Vincent and said, "Mr. Wayne, thank you for your hard work."
Vincent gave a polite smile in return, "Don't worry, this is what I should do."
Bagman nodded awkwardly, then turned and sat in the chair on the far right.
Dumbledore, who was sitting in the middle, cleared his throat and said, "Please allow me to introduce the three gentlemen who are responsible for testing wands."
He raised his hand to each of the three master wandmakers. "They are Mr. Ollivander, Mr. Merovingian, and Mr. Gregorovitch."
Then, he turned to look at the warriors sitting in chairs near the door, "These three will be testing your wands to make sure they are in good condition before the competition."
The three masters came to the open space in the middle of the classroom. After a few words in a low voice, Ollivander looked at the warriors with his silver eyes, "Miss Delacour, you go first, okay?"
Fleur smiled and stood up, walking lightly to the three masters and handing them her wand.
Merovingian watched with considerable satisfaction as Ollivander carefully took her wand.
Gregorovitch on the side seemed a little listless, as if the beautifully shaped wand did not arouse his interest.
Ollivander showed great curiosity. He twirled the wand between his slender fingers as if he was fiddling with a baton, causing the tip of the wand to emit many pink and golden sparks.
Then he held the wand close to his eyes and examined it carefully. "It's a very good wand. The weight of the handle and the tip is well balanced."
He slowly turned the wand to better show the delicate patterns on the wand. "Not bad, nine and a half inches... moderately flexible... made of ebony... contains... oh, God!"
Merovingian straightened his chest unconsciously, "It contains a strand of Veela hair, from Miss Delacour's grandmother."
"What?" Gregorovitch's eyes widened. "Veela hair, a sensitive and capricious material, can actually be used to make wands?"
He snatched the wand back from Ollivander, his eyes shining as if he wanted to see through it completely.
"Unbelievable... This is not a wand that can be easily controlled!"
Gregorovitch grasped the wand lovingly and waved it a few times to test the feel.
"The orchid is in bloom--" He whispered the spell, and a bright orchid blossomed on the tip of the staff.
He turned to look at Merovingian, who looked very proud. "I take back what I said, Master Merovingian. The appearance and comfort of the wand are indeed points that wandmakers need to consider seriously."
Unless there are special circumstances, a wand usually stays with a wizard throughout his or her life.
Although a wand that looks good and feels good cannot bring about an improvement in combat power, it can make the wizard happy, thus bringing about hidden improvements in all aspects.
Merovingian smiled and waved his hands. "Master Gregorovitch, our ideas are not wrong, but there is no such thing as a perfect wand in the world. No matter how hard we try, we can only get close to this goal."
Ollivander nodded in agreement.
Gregorovitch gathered the flowers on the tip of the staff and handed it back to Fleur, "Miss Delacour, you and it are very compatible. I look forward to your wonderful performance."
Fleur smiled brightly, "Thank you, Mr. Gregorovitch."
She took the wand and walked back with light steps.
