Chapter 4000 Confidential Documents
The Green-Headed Golden-Eyed Beast barked a few times at Master Qiao, then ran away quickly. Our group followed behind it, galloping all the way.
In one breath, we ran for several miles. As we walked, the blue-headed, golden-eyed beast in front of us paused for a moment, as if it were waiting for us.
When I got here, I realized something was wrong.
There are signs of human activity here. I think I saw some earthen wall foundations and a well that was almost filled with silt next to it.
Old Master Qiao slowed down and followed. After looking around, he said with some puzzlement, "That's strange. Did anyone live here a long time ago? Why are there still house foundations with heated brick beds?"
We walked around for a bit and then found some other trinkets, like iron spoons, broken glass bottles, and broken teapots.
These things have existed for who knows how many years; you can only vaguely see traces of human activity from a long time ago.
Before we could carefully observe our surroundings, the blue-headed, golden-eyed beast let out a few more strange cries and looked in our direction.
Third Master Qiao glanced at the little creature and said, "Everyone, come with me. The Green-Headed Golden-Eyed Beast must have found something good."
Without taking a second look, we followed the blue-headed golden-eyed beast forward once more.
After traveling for a short while, about two or three miles, the Green-Headed Golden-Eyed Beast stopped near a mountain wall and turned back to bark at Master Qiao twice.
The mountainside was covered with wild grass, much of which had already dried up.
Master Qiao instructed two of his men to clear away the weeds in front of the mountain wall.
The two men, armed with machetes, busied themselves for a while, quickly clearing away all the weeds. Then, a dark hole appeared in front of us.
If it weren't for the Green-Headed Golden-Eyed Beast leading us here, we wouldn't have known there was another cave entrance.
Third Master Qiao turned and glanced at us, saying, "There's something inside the cave. Shall we go in and take a look?"
"Could this be the lair of the Weasel God?" Little Fatty became a little nervous and immediately showed off his eight-sided purple-gold hammer.
“Impossible. The cave where Wong Tai Sin lives is too dilapidated. I didn’t sense any demonic energy at all,” I said immediately.
Then, Uncle Qiao and I walked ahead, leaving Little Fatty to cover our retreat, and we went into the cave.
After walking for more than ten meters, a rusty iron gate suddenly appeared in front of us, with the words "Entry Prohibited" written on it.
Little Fatty looked at the words on the iron gate, scratched his head, and said, "Little Jie, what does this mean? 'No Entry' means we can go in, or we can't?"
"This is Japanese writing; it means 'No Entry'," Master Qiao quickly said.
"You're amazing, Uncle Qiao! You can even read the Japanese writing?" I gave Uncle Qiao a thumbs up.
"The Japanese writing system is similar to ours. They learned it from us back then, but they didn't learn it completely. They only learned one radical for many characters. They could still understand most of them. When I was little, I had an uncle who was a translator in the Northeast Anti-Japanese United Army. He was in charge of interrogating the Japanese soldiers. I also learned a little bit of the Japanese writing system from my uncle," said Uncle Qiao with some pride.
"I never expected that Third Master Qiao is a cultured man like me," I said with a smile.
"No comparison, no comparison. Young Master Wu is a proper scholar, while I'm just a half-baked one," Third Master Qiao quickly said modestly.
"Xiao Jie, how dare you call yourself a cultured person when you're not even as good at studying as me?" Little Fatty rolled his eyes at me.
"Shut up, no one will think you're mute if you don't speak." I kicked the chubby boy in the butt.
Looking at the rusty iron gate in front of him, Uncle Qiao said with some puzzlement, "Why are there Japanese characters here? Could this be a secret base of the Japanese?"
"Let's go inside and take a look first. Little Fatty, open the door!" I called out.
Little Fatty responded and immediately swung his eight-sided purple-gold hammer, smashing it fiercely towards the iron gate. With two loud bangs, the iron gate flew far away.
"Fatty, you're really strong." Third Master Qiao gave Little Fatty a thumbs up.
"Don't think that I'm only good at driving; I'm also very strong," the chubby boy said smugly.
"Let's forget about the car. Just mentioning driving makes me feel nauseous." Master Qiao frowned.
As we spoke, our group walked deeper into the cave, and once inside, it felt like we had discovered a new continent.
Goodness, there are quite a few good things behind this iron gate.
We walked a short distance forward and saw many iron boxes, numbering in the hundreds, placed on both sides of the cave entrance. Next to the iron boxes were also many rifles, communication radios, and unopened cans of food.
Little Fatty used the Demon-faced Purple Gold Hammer to smash open an iron box, only to find that the box was full of bullets.
Seeing that it was no use, Little Fatty hurriedly went to knock on another iron box, but I quickly grabbed him.
"Little Fatty, stop knocking! What if there's a bomb in the box?"
Little Fatty stopped what he was doing, and I used the Shengxie Sword to pry open the iron box from before. I was immediately shocked and broke out in a cold sweat.
This metal box contained sweet potato grenades. Luckily, Little Fatty didn't hit it, or we would all have been blown to bits.
We were all dumbfounded when we saw what was inside the cave.
After a moment of stunned silence, Third Master Qiao said, "This should be a secret base that the little devil has deep in Changbai Mountain, a secret space for storing weapons and logistical supplies. We dare not touch these things, or we'll be beheaded."
I turned to look at Meiling: "Meiling, did that ghostly thing run here?"
The spirit nodded: "It's nearby."
"Let's go check ahead a bit more; maybe we'll find something new," I suggested.
Afterwards, our group continued walking forward. After walking about twenty or thirty meters, we discovered another room on one side of the cave. Little Fatty kicked it open, and we went inside.
This room looks like an office. There's a large box on the desk with a "confidential" seal on it, and we don't know what's inside.
I used the Shengxie Sword to pry open the box and found some documents inside. Upon closer inspection, I realized that I didn't recognize most of them.
Then he remembered that Third Master Qiao knew the Japanese language, so he handed it to him and asked him to see what was written on it.
Master Qiao took the document, carefully examined it, and immediately his expression changed drastically, his hands even began to tremble.
"Third Master Qiao, what does it say here? Tell us quickly." Seeing Third Master Qiao's expression as if facing a formidable enemy, I urged him immediately.
