Chapter 2784 Body search
When the car stopped, Qin Feng realized that the people on duty at the gate were actually armed soldiers, and he then realized that this place was not ordinary.
The soldiers on duty were conducting a very strict inspection. One of them was standing in the passenger seat negotiating with Director Luo, while the other, holding a gun, came to the rear window to inspect Qin Feng, looking him up and down.
Director Luo showed the other party his identification, while the person behind him circled the car, focusing on monitoring Qin Feng.
After checking everything and confirming that there were no problems, they opened the door to let Qin Feng and the others' car in.
"Is the inspection that strict?" Qin Feng asked jokingly, but he actually wanted to get some specific information from Director Luo.
Seeing this scene, Qin Feng felt nervous, a feeling he hadn't experienced in a long time.
"That's only because they've already called and registered them inside; otherwise, we wouldn't have been able to get in at all," Director Luo replied with a smile, but still didn't reveal any information about what was going on inside.
As the car drove further in, the winding paths created a sense of mystery and seclusion.
The car stopped in front of one of the buildings, where several other cars were parked and four or five people were standing at the entrance.
These four or five people were all quite young and very energetic. Although they were all wearing suits, Qin Feng could tell their true identities at a glance because they stood ramrod straight and had sharp eyes.
The car stopped, and Qin Feng followed Director Luo out of the car. However, Director Luo did not go up the steps into the house, but stood by the car and waited.
Qin Feng found it strange, but he could only wait.
At that moment, a man in his forties wearing glasses came out from inside.
"Director Zhang, this is Mayor Qin Feng," Director Luo said respectfully to the person who came.
Qin Feng didn't know who this Director Zhang was, but from Director Luo's attitude, he knew that the other party was no ordinary person.
"Hello, Comrade Qin Feng." Director Zhang took the initiative to extend his hand to Qin Feng.
"Hello, Director Zhang." Qin Feng quickly shook hands with the other party.
"Please come in," Director Zhang said politely.
Qin Feng followed Director Zhang up the steps into the house, while Director Luo stood by the car and did not follow.
Qin Feng was puzzled, but he didn't think too much about it because he knew he didn't have time to overthink it.
Upon reaching the top of the steps, Qin Feng saw the same men in suits he had been observing from inside the car. Two of them walked up to Qin Feng and stopped him, staring at him with the same interrogation gaze one would give a criminal, making Qin Feng feel extremely uncomfortable.
"Excuse me, Comrade Qin Feng, this is the rule, please cooperate." Director Zhang said with a smile.
Qin Feng then realized that the other party wanted to search him.
Qin Feng was very surprised by the other party's request to search him, and he was even more puzzled as to who was inside.
Qin Feng finally understood why Director Luo had told him not to bring a bag unless absolutely necessary. The reason was that if Qin Feng had brought a bag, it would definitely have been thoroughly inspected.
Qin Feng cooperated by opening his arms and allowing the other party to examine him.
The other party was very professional and conducted a thorough examination, leaving no stone unturned in checking Qin Feng's body for any suspicious detail. Two minutes later, the two nodded to each other and then said to Qin Feng, "Please come in."
"Please come in." Director Zhang led Qin Feng into the room.
The house was large, but Qin Feng didn't see any important figures after entering. Instead, he was led directly to one of the rooms next door by Director Zhang.
"Comrade Qin Feng, please wait here first," Director Zhang said with a smile, without explaining the reason or saying another word.
Qin Feng was full of questions, but he still nodded politely and sat down in the chair.
Director Zhang turned and walked out, closing the door behind him, leaving Qin Feng alone in the room.
Just as Qin Feng was feeling somewhat apprehensive, there was a knock on the door. The door opened, and a staff member came in carrying a cup of tea and placed it in front of Qin Feng.
"Thank you," Qin Feng said politely.
The staff member smiled at Qin Feng: "Just let me know if you need anything."
The staff then left and closed the door again.
Qin Feng sat alone in the small room once again, waiting.
Qin Feng is now certain that the owner of this house must be a big shot, at least a leader higher than Vice Minister Hong. Moreover, Qin Feng guesses that this big shot should be of a much higher rank than Vice Minister Hong, because Vice Minister Hong's secretary, Director Luo, is not even qualified to enter this house and can only wait outside.
As Vice Minister Hong's secretary, Director Luo could practically do whatever he wanted even in the notoriously powerful capital city. Yet today, he entered this place behaving like a well-behaved schoolchild, which speaks volumes about the status of the person in charge.
Qin Feng could guess roughly how powerful this important figure was, but he dared not guess who the person was, because it was the first time he had ever felt fear about someone's identity.
Having roughly guessed what level of being the other party was, Qin Feng began to feel nervous. He didn't know why the other party had asked him to come tonight, nor did he know what he would face next.
In this area, Mayor Qin Feng is not much different from a town mayor.
Qin Feng sat alone in the room for more than ten minutes. Ten minutes is not a long time, but to Qin Feng today, those ten minutes felt like several hours.
He kept reminding himself not to overthink, but he couldn't stop himself from overthinking. He also kept trying to control himself from being nervous, but his body and mind were out of control.
Ten minutes later, there was another knock on the door, then the door opened and Director Zhang walked in.
"Comrade Qin Feng, please come with me," Director Zhang said.
Qin Feng nodded quickly, stood up, and followed Director Zhang out.
The house was very large. The place where Qin Feng had just been was a side room near the entrance. Director Zhang led Qin Feng through the hall and then to a room where he knocked on the door before opening it.
"Comrade Qin Feng, please come in." Director Zhang pushed open the door but did not go in. Instead, he stood at the doorway and turned to Qin Feng.
With a mix of trepidation and excitement, Qin Feng nodded to Director Zhang and went inside.
Qin Feng entered the room and realized it was a reception room.
The reception room is laid out like a traditional Chinese reception room, and its furnishings are also entirely in the Chinese style.
At the head of the table are two Chinese-style chairs, with chairs placed to the left and right below them.
In the first two chairs sat only an elderly man with a kind face and slightly white hair.
When Qin Feng saw the elder, his eyes widened, and he couldn't suppress his surprise.
Because he knew this elder very well.
The familiarity wasn't because Qin Feng had actually met or known the other person, but because he had seen them in the news and newspapers far too many times.
It's not just Qin Feng; any ordinary person in the country who pays even a little attention to national affairs and watches the news would recognize him, let alone someone like Qin Feng who works within the system.
This elder was one of those at the center of power.
