Chapter 2857 Ding Wenbo's Visit
"Who is it?" Yang Yuxin was also surprised. At this moment, she was still wearing that cool nightgown. She was happy to give the nightgown to Qin Feng, but she would never show it to anyone else.
Qin Feng got up and walked to the door, looking out through the peephole. To his surprise, the person standing outside was Ding Wenbo.
Upon seeing Ding Wenbo standing outside, Qin Feng pondered for a few seconds and immediately guessed why Ding Wenbo was standing outside the door, his brows furrowing.
At this moment, Yang Yuxin also walked over: "Who is it?"
“A deputy mayor,” Qin Feng replied, then glanced at Yang Yuxin, who was dressed lightly, and said, “Go to my bedroom and wait for a while.”
"Do we have to let him in?" Yang Yuxin asked.
“If I don’t let him in, he’ll stand here all night. He definitely won’t leave until he sees me,” Qin Feng said calmly.
"Hurry up and get him out of here, or my food will get cold." Yang Yuxin said before heading straight to Qin Feng's bedroom and closing the door.
Ding Wenbo kept knocking on the door, but Qin Feng ignored him. He looked back into the room, walked to the table and put away Yang Yuxin's bowl and wine glass, making it seem as if he was drinking alone at home, before walking to the door and opening it.
"Mayor, I'm sorry to bother you so late at night," Ding Wenbo said hastily as Qin Feng opened the door, his tone somewhat obsequious.
Ding Wenbo stood alone outside the door, carrying his bag, without his secretary.
"Vice Mayor Ding, is there something you need so late?" Qin Feng asked casually.
Qin Feng and Ding Wenbo had worked together for more than half a year. Logically speaking, one was the mayor and the other was the deputy mayor, so their relationship should be very close. However, although Qin Feng and Ding Wenbo had a lot of interaction, they were not familiar with each other because Ding Wenbo had always been a staunch supporter of Shao Hongli's faction.
Since Qin Feng came to the municipal government, Ding Wenbo has always stood on the opposite side of Qin Feng, following Shao Hongli in every way to be Qin Feng's enemy. Therefore, Qin Feng and Ding Wenbo have hardly any interaction. The work that they need to coordinate is either discussed in meetings or conveyed through the office or Chen Guohua. The two of them do not meet alone very often.
There is another reason for this: Qin Feng does not value Ding Wenbo. It is not because Ding Wenbo's position is unimportant, but because Ding Wenbo is Shao Hongli's follower. A follower is naturally not worth valuing, because once Shao Hongli is dealt with, Ding Wenbo will naturally be dealt with as well.
Qin Feng just stood at the door, showing no intention of letting Ding Wenbo in.
Qin Feng blocked the doorway without inviting Ding Wenbo in, leaving Ding Wenbo feeling awkward and unsure of what to say.
"Mayor, there are some things I'd like to report to you privately in person. Is it convenient for me to go in now?" Ding Wenbo had no choice but to express his desire to go in tactfully.
Qin Feng knew why Ding Wenbo had come tonight, so even if he didn't let Ding Wenbo in, Ding Wenbo wouldn't be sensible enough to leave, and the two of them would just remain in an awkward situation.
With Yang Yuxin still inside, Qin Feng had no choice but to act quickly and let Ding Wenbo in, so he could explain his intentions as soon as possible and then get rid of him.
"Come in!" Qin Feng glanced at Ding Wenbo, then turned and walked into the house, his attitude extremely cold.
"Thank you, Mayor. It's so late, I'm really sorry to bother you." Ding Wenbo apologized as he followed Qin Feng into the house and closed the door behind him.
"Sit down, what's the matter?" Qin Feng walked to the sofa and sat down, asking Ding Wenbo what was wrong before Ding Wenbo could even sit down.
Qin Feng was telling Ding Wenbo to hurry up and leave as soon as possible.
"Mayor, I'm here today about those five projects." Seeing Qin Feng's attitude, Ding Wenbo knew he couldn't waste any more time on pleasantries, so he abandoned the set of pleasantries he had prepared and went straight to the point.
After saying this, Ding Wenbo handed Qin Feng a cigarette and then took out a lighter to light it for him, but Qin Feng waved his hand and said, "There's heating in the room, and the windows aren't open. I don't smoke."
Qin Feng's cold-heartedness made Ding Wenbo feel a little embarrassed, and he quickly put away the cigarettes and lighter.
"Let's get down to business, Vice Mayor Ding. Urban construction isn't your responsibility, and these five projects have nothing to do with you, right?" Qin Feng said calmly.
"Yes, urban construction is indeed no longer under my jurisdiction, but Mayor, I've always been in charge of this area, and these projects were all initiated under my supervision, so..."
“I didn’t really want to get involved in this, but today the contractors and construction companies of these projects all came to me, hoping I could help them find the mayor to make an exception for them.”
“These projects were all launched during my tenure, so I’m quite familiar with these contractors and construction companies. Moreover, I made some promises to them to ensure that they could complete the projects with high quality and quantity. That’s why I have to bother the mayor today,” Ding Wenbo told Qin Feng the words he had prepared beforehand.
Ding Wenbo's explanation was excellent. It clearly conveyed his purpose to Qin Feng without making him seem awkward, since his purpose appeared reasonable on the surface.
"Shouldn't you talk to Mayor Yuanwei about these things? Even if you want to talk to me, you should go to my office. Is it appropriate to talk about these things at home?" Qin Feng asked calmly.
“Mayor, it is precisely because these matters are not suitable to be discussed in the office that I have come to your home to disturb you. I implore you to be lenient and suspend the investigation into these projects,” Ding Wenbo said, his attitude extremely respectful.
"Is this your idea or the idea of those contractors?" Qin Feng looked at Ding Wenbo with amusement.
"This is their intention, and it's also my intention. Mayor, they have promised to fully cooperate with the government's liquidation and clearing work, as well as all the previous disciplinary actions taken against them. They only hope that the government's investigation into them will end here," Ding Wenbo said.
“Vice Mayor Ding, you shouldn’t be saying these things in your capacity. From a political point of view, this matter cannot end here. How much damage has the government suffered due to these people’s previous actions? How can we just let it go? We also need to make an example of them to deter other projects.”
"Moreover, this is not simply a political issue. Strictly speaking, it is a legal issue and a matter of principle. These projects involve a large number of illegal and disciplinary violations. Since we have found clues to illegal activities, we should hand them over to the judicial authorities. If it involves violations of discipline by public officials, it should be transferred to the discipline inspection commission."
"We will continue our investigation. Once the investigation is complete, we will hand over the clues of violations of laws and regulations to the judicial and disciplinary authorities for further in-depth investigation."
“Vice Mayor Ding, if we have already found clues of illegal or disciplinary violations but do not transfer them, this is a serious violation of laws and regulations, a matter of principle, and we cannot make an exception.” Qin Feng directly escalated the matter.
