Chapter 2874 United Front
"Mayor, I heard that Secretary Jiang plans to stop your investigations into several projects and let the Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection take over," Tang Zeyan said proactively.
"Yes, the Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection has taken over the case, and Secretary Jiang has also requested that the relocation of the No. 1 Middle School be brought to the Standing Committee for discussion as soon as possible." Qin Feng nodded.
"What does the mayor think about this?" Tang Zeyan asked.
"Which matter is Secretary Zeyan asking about? Is it the Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection taking over the investigation of these projects, or is it about bringing up the relocation of the No. 1 Middle School to the Standing Committee for discussion?" Qin Feng asked.
"I'd like to hear the mayor's opinion," Tang Zeyan said with a smile.
"It is necessary for the Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection to take over the project investigation, and it should be done according to procedure. The current investigation has uncovered some clues involving job-related crimes committed by public officials, and it should be handed over to the Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection for investigation. Although the takeover was a little early and many issues have not yet been investigated, it is not a big deal and there are no problems in terms of procedure."
"As for the relocation of the No. 1 Middle School... it should have been discussed and decided at the Standing Committee meeting long ago, so that it wouldn't have dragged on for several years. Now that Secretary Jiang wants to bring this matter to the Standing Committee meeting for discussion, it's a good thing, after all, the relocation of the No. 1 Middle School can't be delayed any longer," Qin Feng said with a smile.
Tang Zeyan smiled and nodded after hearing this, saying, "I understand what the mayor means."
Tang Zeyan's question to Qin Feng about these two matters was actually a way of asking Qin Feng if he had any thoughts on them, and whether he planned to use them to his advantage to oppose Jiang Longjun's decision.
Qin Feng's answer was telling Tang Zeyan that he did not intend to make a fuss about these two matters.
Qin Feng didn't know why Tang Zeyan would ask him this question. Did Tang Zeyan want him to support Qin Feng from behind when he was fighting against Jiang Longjun?
Qin Feng didn't know what Tang Zeyan was planning, but at this time, confronting Jiang Longjun head-on would not benefit Qin Feng at all, and he was no match for Jiang Longjun.
"Mayor, what should we do with Ding Wenbo? Secretary Jiang should have mentioned this, right?" Tang Zeyan suddenly asked.
Qin Feng then realized that Tang Zeyan's purpose in getting into the car was to find out about this matter.
"Secretary Jiang hasn't talked to me about Ding Wenbo, but I think her silence precisely reflects her attitude. I suppose she must have talked to you too?" Qin Feng countered.
“This afternoon, Secretary Jiang called me to his office, and we exchanged views on some of the recent work of the Municipal Party Committee. He mainly talked to me about his opinions on these projects, especially the large number of problems found in the investigation of these projects. He mentioned that he hoped the Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection would take over these projects.
"He mentioned that, based on the evidence you've gathered so far and the results of the Discipline Inspection Commission's own covert investigation, Ding Wenbo is very likely involved. He discussed this with me and asked for my opinion," Tang Zeyan said.
Qin Feng was pondering this matter in his heart, but on the surface he remained calm and composed.
"How did Secretary Zeyan answer?"
"What could I possibly say? The Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection's investigation is perfectly reasonable. All he wants is for me to express my opinion, to show that his decision was made after internal discussion rather than by his own unilateral decision. In reality, my opinion is not important to him." Tang Zeyan smiled.
"Mayor, his alliance with the Yang family this time is solely for the purpose of protecting Shao Hongli, hence the pressure he's putting on you. But what I don't understand is, if he wants to protect Shao Hongli, why is he also investigating Ding Wenbo?"
“Yes, given the depth of your investigation so far, he has to find out about Ding Wenbo, otherwise the risk is too great and it can't be hidden at all. But the problem is that if Ding Wenbo is investigated, it will be 100% certain that Shao Hongli will be implicated. Isn't that a contradiction?” Tang Zeyan asked, voicing his doubts.
Qin Feng smiled, thought for a moment, and then said to Tang Zeyan, "Ding Wenbo took his wife to Shanghai early this morning, and then went abroad from Shanghai using a fake identity."
"Fleeing?" Tang Zeyan was very surprised, then said, "I understand. They are planning to make Ding Wenbo take the blame for all the crimes. No wonder Secretary Jiang started investigating Ding Wenbo. Because Ding Wenbo has already fled. Not bad... This move was very clever."
"But I stopped Ding Wenbo before he boarded the plane," Qin Feng said with a smile.
"Really?" Tang Zeyan was pleasantly surprised.
"Secretary Zeyan, I'll handle Ding Wenbo's article privately. You should still keep a close eye on the Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection's investigation into these projects," Qin Feng said to Tang Zeyan.
Tang Zeyan's eyes darted around, and he immediately understood Qin Feng's meaning. He smiled and said, "Mayor, don't worry, I will continue to put pressure on the Discipline Inspection Commission. I won't let them get away with this so easily."
Qin Feng and Tang Zeyan exchanged a smile, both understanding each other's intentions.
Qin Feng and Shao Hongli are mortal enemies, and now Tang Zeyan and Shao Hongli have also become enemies. The enemy of an enemy is naturally a friend, so it is inevitable that Qin Feng and Tang Zeyan will get together.
When Qin Feng got home, he had just taken out his keys to open the door when he vaguely heard voices coming from inside.
Qin Feng was greatly surprised and quickly took out his key to open the door.
As soon as the door opened, Yang Yuxin was sitting on the living room sofa, and at the other end of the sofa sat a man dressed in sportswear, with a down coat and a baseball cap next to him. Yang Yuxin was making tea and chatting with the man.
Upon seeing Qin Feng enter, the man in the tracksuit immediately stood up: "Mayor!"
The man was none other than Ding Wenbo, the deputy mayor of Shazhou City. However, Qin Feng was somewhat doubtful that he had mistaken him for someone else because of his current attire.
"Alright, your mayor is back. You guys chat, I'm going back now." Yang Yuxin stood up and walked out.
Qin Feng frowned, and as Yang Yuxin passed by him, he grabbed her hand and pulled her outside.
"What are you doing? You're hurting my hand." After walking out the door, Yang Yuxin shook off Qin Feng's hand, clearly dissatisfied.
"What's going on?" Qin Feng asked Yang Yuxin coldly.
"What? What happened? When I came back earlier, I saw him wearing a hat and hiding himself all over, acting suspiciously at your door. I thought he was a thief, but after a closer look, I realized he was the deputy mayor."
“I knew he was looking for you, so I opened the door and let him in, made him tea, and entertained him on your behalf. What’s wrong?” Yang Yuxin replied.
"What did he say to you?" Qin Feng asked seriously.
"He didn't say anything, nothing at all. He wouldn't even tell me who he was, so I'll just pretend I don't know him. Don't worry, he didn't tell me anything. Who would be so foolish as to open up to a stranger?" Yang Yuxin said.
"Then what did you say to him?" Qin Feng asked again.
“Me? I told him I’m your lover, the lover I sleep in the same bed with every day. I also told him you have a wife and children, but you still have to sleep with me every day, okay?” Yang Yuxin rolled her eyes at Qin Feng.
